Everything was wonderful! We have seen some bad reviews from some real Karens. First, there are stairs to the bathroom. There are stairs to the restaurant too. You have to be blind and or stupid to miss them. Anyone complaining about falling down those stairs frankly deserved it. Another Karen complained about how the wine was 2023 instead of 2021 ... the menus don't list the date. It's a seaside lobster restaurant, let's not put on airs like you can tell the difference Karen. Finally, a lady complained she didn't get a free dessert on her birthday... the world doesn't owe you a key lime pie lady, but if you order one it is in fact delicious! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BEATS DECENT FOOD I tripped and fell down the stairs while trying to be kind and make conversation with the staff who was sitting at a table at the bar on a slow night. I had no clue there was stairs down to the bathroom, so I stepped down and almost broke my ankle when I tripped and fell. I continually asked for ice from the server and was never asked why when icing my ankle because they clearly didn't care. And then while leaving I suggested to the hostess (whom was a woman who looked about 60 years old) that people be told there are steps to the bathroom and that no one told me about the steps which led to me ultimately to trip and fall and no one helped. She then raised her voice at me saying "well maybe no one saw you!" LOL says the lady who walked past me when I fell (please I encourage the owners to look at the cameras).... Again... make sure you to go to the bathroom before you go there and as long as that's happening I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!! read more

One of my favorite meals while visiting St Thomas! This is a local spot tucked away off the main road and ocean front, you can't beat it. This could be a good romantic dinner or good for a group. It has the ability to meet all your vacation needs and good food! For the people siting issues with the service, this place is on island time. It's not a bad thing but just don't try to be in a rush. You are taken care of it just may take a little longer than you would have thought. Everyone says get the curry lobster. Let me be the next to say...get the curry lobster! I don't love curry at all, but get the curry lobster! It's such a good balance of sweet coconut with a cream sauce that just works so well with the explosion of flavors going on. It's amazing how a server can wreck a good meal. She arrived at our table with a lit up Christmas tree hat on for Valentine's Day. None of the 2021 red wines on wine list were in stock and 2023's took their place. Our wine glasses arrived dripping wet and were sent back. One of our shrimp cocktails arrived without the other. After 15 minutes, we sent that back and reordered our two fresh. The food was great as we have eaten here for 20 years but all the linen table cloths couldn't class this place up when my shrimp cocktail sauce arrived in a plastic cup instead of in the cocktail glass...??? The ambiance is hard to beat--dining right by the water with the ocean breeze and a beautiful sunset feels like a postcard moment. The menu was decent but definitely on the pricey side. I had my heart set on the crab legs, but unfortunately, they were out. I ended up going with the lobster instead. I chose the small size, but was surprised to be charged the highest price point, which felt more in line with a medium. The lobster itself was decent--not bad, but nothing to rave about either. We did enjoy the garlic bread though! When the bill came, we couldn't help but feel like the overall value didn't quite match the price point. Food and service were both average--nothing that stood out in a big way. Mim's Seaside Bistro is a delightful little sea side restaurant that has delicious food and a very friendly staff. If you want a very good meal in a more-upscale spot then this place is for you. We came in with a large group (10 people), we called ahead, and they handled us wonderfully. Our waitress was a class act from beginning to end, not only handling the usual stuff but also pushing drinks, etc. (because she could tell we were a fun group). The menu has tons of amazing-sounding options. So many, in fact, that it makes it hard to choose! While I wanted to go with their famous dish, the lobster, I decided to have the Blackened Mahi-Mahi - it was the right choice because it was phenomenal. In fact, everyone else in the group raved about their dishes as well. Not a single person said they had something they didn't like. Had the curry lobster which was recommendation due to it being their famous item. And it was just overpowering. Couldn't taste the goodness of the lobster itself. Lucky us to be staying right by Mim's during our stay on St. Thomas! You can't beat the location on the water with a nice patio and indoor area to choose from. We had three fantastic dinners there. The food and the servers each night were top notch. Excellent seafood dishes and the drinks were wonderful too. Highly recommend any of their seafood pastas, the lobster dishes and the crab dip. It is a bit off the beaten path and is definitely a low key place. But the staff is friendly and takes care of you. My wife had a delicious snapper almandine with horseradish sauce. I had seared ahi. We were celebrating a birthday and ordered dessert, asked for the sparkler candle we saw given to other tables and were denied. Saying "we ordered to-go dessert" so they won't do it. COME ON MIMS!! The ONLY reason I'm giving you 2 stars is because the girls said their drinks were yummy and the waiter was nice. 2 hour wait for food, to be fair we were a table of 7 that showed up a half hour early. They were super nice and seated us. All downhill from there. We waited literally hours for dinner as they had another large table. I could have been fine with all of it had they not just ignored us. We couldn't get water or any other drinks refilled all night. The food was good, not great, the view and vibe were outstanding. I've been here multiple times. Usually a small party 2 or 3 and it's been great. Went on a date night with my wife on a Thursday evening. Since we arrived without a reservation we had a drink at the bar while waiting for less than 15 min. Then ordered fried calamari as appetizer followed by a medium curry coconut lobster with rice and plantains which was enough for both of us. Lobster was very flavorful. She went over and beyond, hunting down shirt sizes for us, making an americano for my grandma who doesn't like espresso, etc. We were seated right away, and the staff was lovely. Only downside: we waited almost an hour for our mains, and some of our dishes were a little lacking (shrimp and crab pasta only had a little crab meat, eggplant parmesan noodles were cold in some areas) but overall, I would 1000% come again. We visited from Bolongo Bay so that we could have the renounced Curried Lobster. Upon arrivi g we were warmly greeted by Shamara that set the tone for service. She was driving the aura of the shift which was felt throughout our experience. Joan was our server and she was pleasant, professional and attentive. As the name suggests it's by the Seaside and that se air, sound of the waves and the moonlights reflection coupled with the hospitality made for a wonderful evening. We started with the boiled shrimp with cajun seasoning and had some cocktails. For our entrees we ordered the Snapper Almandine and the three (3) pounds curried lobster whole. The snapper was beautifully presented with almo D slivers all over the fish, similar to scales, wonderful. The lobster in the most humble way took the show, it was just an attention whore and for good reason, it was HUGE and aesthetically pleasing! The food was delicious, we needed to add some salt for all the flavors to pop, it was initially bland and that salt brought out the flavors that were there and they were SO SO GREAT! read more

We didn't need them. We were seated right away and a great table. They do have a bar with seating as well. We ordered the frog legs, tostones and half pound of shrimp as appetizers. Prior to the appetizers coming out, we were give complimentary bread and butter. The frog legs taste just like chicken. They were breaded and seasoned well. The shrimp was just boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce as expected. We never received our tostones. I'm not sure if she forgot, but we weren't charged for them The drinks were good. About $10-$12 each. Do check you bill. She had overcharged us by $8, but she corrected it right away when we brought it up. read more

We loved this place. The tables have a view of the ocean and pool view. The servers are very warm and welcoming. They were very helpful. The drink, coconut margarita was so good. The coconut curry lobster was literally the best plate I've had in so long. I liked it so much I kept wanting to go back. It was expensive but the medium plate could feed 2 people. Beautiful views, fun service, tasty food! Really good experience. My friend got the curry lobster and although I didn't taste it, she said it was delicious and flavorful.
