So sad to give such a low rating but we had a risotto that tasted like bleach. Service was 10/10, and the restaurant is beautiful but that dish really ruined the experience. Wouldn't recommend.

while vacationing in St. Thomas USVI, we took the ferry to St. John's. While touring St. John we had dinner at 1864. This restaurant is located in the rear of a little shopping center a fairly new build and very nicely acquainted. The Restaurant had a great ambience, and the staff was super friendly. Luckily, we were able to get three seats at the bar for dinner. It's considered very popular, I believe, because of the service and the ambience. In my humble opinion, I thought the food was mediocre at best. We started off with appetizers of mussels and oysters. My wife and daughter said the muscles were good but they had better. I ate the oysters and they were very good. I'd put them in outstanding. For dinner, my wife and daughter both had. The fried chicken with mac & cheese. They both said the mac & cheese was outstanding, but the chicken was a little dry. It looked nice to me but again that was just an observation. I had the seafood and sausage risotto. I found a sort of bland. The seafood is very good and cooked correctly, but I found the risotto and the sauce. lacking flavor. We also ordered some garlic bread for dipping with the mussels and my risotto sauce. I'm glad I asked for the extra garlic. It was good but not great. I would recommend this place if you're in St. John, it's prices are slightly less than with most of the restaurants in the area.

Delicious sushi lunch, check their hours and days. Nicely rolled and presented dragon roll, firecracker roll and vegetarian. Beautifully designed restaurant, airy, stone, open to light. This Mongoose Junction restaurant is a gem. We loved the sushi, a nice clean flavor. Our server was efficient. I would definately come back.

We did a pre dinner stop for drinks and apps at the bar and it did not disappoint. Happy hour is 3-5pm so take advantage if you are in the area! The bar is in an open air center of Mongoose Junction. Conveniently located a short walk from the Cruz Bay ferry stop. This stop is a little on the upscale, so it can easily be a dressier night out to dinner. We had the raw oysters and oysters Rockefeller. I have had plenty of oysters in my life and these were fantastic. The raw oysters were super clean and fresh. Perfect with just a squeeze of lemon! The oysters Rockefeller were some of the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked tender oyster topped with such a flavorful topping. The drinks were also excellent! Highly recommend if you are in the area or even making it a destination as part of your trip, it is well worth it!

I came here for an anniversary meal with my boyfriend, so they greeted us with a complementary glass of champagne, which was very sweet and thoughtful. We got some cocktails and ordered the saffron seafood risotto with lobster. Unfortunately the mussels were extremely fishy, but the staff kind enough to send it back and let me order something else. Instead, I got the fried scallops, and it it's definitely some of the best scallops I've ever had. The portions were enormous! I would definitely come back. The restaurant itself was beautiful.

Came here for an anniversary meal and was very pleased with the experience. I noted the occasion in our reservation, and we were congratulated by the staff and presented with a complimentary glass of champagne. We went ahead and ordered a couple more cocktails for the evening, both of which were unique and tasted delicious. The food was pretty good as well. I ordered the seafood risotto and it came with plenty of protein.

This was my favorite meal on the island hands down. First off the atmosphere is amazing. It's indoor outdoor with lots of fans so it's the perfect temperature and it's such a cool space. Then our service was amazing, everyone was so nice and friendly and on top of it. Then I had a dirty martini and it was Top 5 best martini I have ever had! And I have had a lot of dirty martinis. Then I got the tuna and it was fantastic. We got dumplings and burrata to start and that was amazing too. I tried a bite of everyone's meals and there wasn't anything bad. If I lived on the island I would frequent this place!

Very pleased with this St John's restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited but everything on it is prepared beautifully. Good wine list, full bar. Caribbean spices, fish, seafood, streak, pork, veggie offerings all properly cooked. Enthusiastic wait staff, eager to please. Very good.

Awhile back had an okay meal here, but this time it's a homerun all around... super service and tasty food served piping hot. Excellent choices: --Ciabatta Garlic Bread --Chicken & Roasted Vegetable Potstickers --Jumbo Stuffed Prawns with roasted Garlic Crab & Panko Stuffing, Grilled Broccoli, Pineapple & Jalapeno Beurre Blanc. Subbed their awesome homemade french fries for the sweet potato mash (wise substitution for a french fry addict!) --Caribbean Spiced Fresh Daily Catch was lobster, served with Haricots Verts, Mango Salsa, Mixed Greens with Sesame Vinaigrette, Crispy Noodles, Pickled Red Onion. Really tasty combination.

The elegance of this restaurant with its open air seating, melodic sounds of the cokie's and tree frogs, and white linen table cloths enchanted my wife and I after a love-charmed day at Honeymoon Beach. She ordered the catch of the day - lobster. I went for the crab stuffed prawns. We were both mesmerized by the tantalizing flavors which flooded our mouths. The entrees were nothing less than heavenly. Joe did a fine job as our waiter and kept me hydrated in light of my crimson sun-kissed skin tone. We wish would could have been dressed in tux and evening gown for this exquisite dining experience but felt welcome in our swim suits and coverups.

The menu is big. It's local. They sell out as the night goes on. All of the servers do not speak English really well. But, honestly, if you have a question that can't be answered, there's someone around you can talk to. We ordered sautéed fish and the stewed chicken. Each entree comes with three sides - my favorites were the plantains, red beans, and Cole slaw. Rice was also good. The cook was also grilling pork that smelled AMAZING and when I asked my server if I could have whatever he was making, she literally snuck me over a side plate of smoked and grilled pork. So freaking good. This is not your typical Cruz bay restaurant. This is local. It's delicious. There is live music. Appreciate what you are getting. If you want cute fish tacos, this place isn't for you. We had a cocktail at the Windmill Bar during sunset and then popped over here (practically next door), to order some food. Tables are picnic style tables. All outside. Service is great but food is cooked to order so it might be slow. Enjoy it! We had multiple beers and a couple mamawana shots and two entrees and our total was about $75. Definitely our least expensive meal on St. John ever.

Great Bloody Mary , the pineapple juice tasted fresh squeezed, the bacon was crispy, and the biscuits and gravy were fabulous. Two biscuits split in half with the sausage gravy over top. I kid you not...Bloody Mary $7, Pineapple juice $3.00, Biscuits and gravy $16 and side of bacon $3. With "most" meals being in the stratosphere on this island, High Tide was a welcome relief.

The spacious dining area with a great happy hour and dinner menu comes out at 5:00. We got there for the lunch menu and were glad we did because we got sandwiches which were great. Candidly, nothing on the dinner menu blew our minds. The tuna sandwich with wasabi and arugula was fantastic, and the tuna was prepared perfectly! We also got shrimp tacos that were better than the sandwich for what it's worth. Our server, who didn't give us her name, was sweet and attentive and even brought a cask of water without us asking. At the end of the day, High Tide delivered as advertised. Three last thoughts if you've read this far: Park at the MVD and walk; it's not that far and free. Get the Key Lime Pie; it was outstanding but pretty typical of the area. Lastly, stop at the merch store and grab a t-shirt, which are some of the best I've seen so far!
