Fenton is such a cute town and so is this restaurant. It's a smaller place and had great parking in the back. We were here on Saturday around 7. Staff was very friendly and we were greeted immediately and told to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. The server came over with waters and menus right away. We started off with the house margarita and it was delicious. We ordered the trio and I say you definitely should order that. The nachos were next level!!! I like a lot of stuff on my nachos and these were some of the best I have had. The street taco with chicken was also tasty. Everything tasted super fresh. I did not leave feeling weighed down like in many restaurants. I left feeling satisfied. I would love to try some other things on the menu. Great experience. read more

If you love tacos and haven't been here, GET HERE! XOLO is one of my favorite restaurants in the Fenton area, and my husband & I visit as much as we can. More of a "boutique" taco spot, the restaurant's design is a colorful, modern space that's both fun and inviting. They have a well-tailored one-page menu of amazing options with unique flavors and different combinations of ingredients. You'll find all your classics-- Tacos, burritos, nachos, tortas, quesadillas, salads, bowls, salsas, guacamole, etc. There is an extensive list of tequilas, and I think they may even offer a flight, if you want to try a few. The variety of margaritas, cocktails, beer, and wine is also a list you're going to eventually want to make you're way through! Definitely start your meal with the Salsa Trio (after you've ordered your margs), because you do not want to miss out on their house-fried salty tortilla chips! They will literally change your mind about where you eat your Mexican food....! After having tried most of their tacos, my go-to is the BBQ Pork, and I always pair it with the Spicy Margarita. It's one of my favorite meals, and one of the reasons why is that I never feel gross, heavy, or tired when I leave! (Some Mexican restaurants just make you feel "bleh" afterwards (all that cheese!)) Came in last night, i was surprised how empty it was for a Thursday night in downtown Fenton. Some of the tables had chairs on them . Something felt off in the vibe, we sat at the bar. I've been going to Xolos since it opened years ago. The service is honestly terrible every time I go. The waitresses will stand at the front when you are clearly done with your food in an empty restaurant and it takes forever for them to give you the check, usually I have to stare at them or tell them to come over. Over half of the staff do not know how to use the machine for the checks. Sometimes when I go with groups they will give us our food all mixed up on different plates. Several times they have assumed that my group wanted to split the check evenly and not pay for what each person got and it took forever for them to fix it on the machine. When I asked for change today I asked for 5s and 1s and the waitress purposely only gave me 5s so I would leave her a bigger tip. The staff overall is just never that friendly. The only reason I keep coming back is because their tacos are amazing. But from now on I'll only get takeout because dining in always has so many problems. read more

I used to live in Fenton, when this place opened, my wife and I would eat here 2-3 times a week. We loved it! We moved in the last year and came back to Fenton today and wanted to go back and enjoy one of our favorite meals.. THAT WAS A MISTAKE!. We sat down and got our menu, no more meals. I ask why and was told a new owner took over in April. everything is a la carte. Umm ok.. but $4-8 for one Taco? Ok, a little expensive; but it better be good still. We got our food and it was absolutely not good. Tasted nothing like it used to or even close to a decent Mexican taco. Whoever owns it now is trying to run it like a food truck type establishment, the railyard is 1 block away and has actual food trucks with a food truck vibe and music and it's WAY WAY cheaper. Recently tried Xolo on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to get right in without any wait. The salsa was phenomenal. Incredibly fresh with homemade tortilla chips. We tried three different tacos, the Korean pork, Midwest and Al pastor. All of them were very tasty in their own right. They have a wide range of tequila but the tequila sunrise we ordered was very strong (which may be a positive to some). Overall the quality of the food and service was good. Very subpar experience. Gentrified white people tacos, pretty bland, and the toppings are spare, mostly all meat and no flavor. I know I sound like a hater but they're pretty bad tacos considering their whole restaurant is dedicated to tacos. I see the potential though, maybe this one time it was just a miss. Made an account just to write this review. Went here for my birthday last Tuesday 2/14, ended up getting food poisoning and missing my flight that next morning. Had to switch my flight which costed more money, and lost two days of vacation.. oh and did I mention it was my birthday? If you wanna go here because it's cute and nicely decorated just don't order any chicken tacos and, if you're craving pure salt try the birria tacos! On Saturday, 10/19/24, we made the mistake of taking an out-of-town friend here for lunch. I now I know why we were the only ones in there on a beautiful afternoon. Our waitress was a sweet girl, but so, so clueless. She was more concerned about flirting with the guy at the bar than waiting on our table. The food was mediocre at best. In my "build a bowl "lunch there was only four ingredients when there should've been at least seven or eight (that were listed on the menu). When I asked her for a side of black beans that were missing from my entree, she brought me a side of guacamole. Not sure where the disconnect was there, but she simply was not paying attention. And for the first time in our 32 year marriage, my husband left behind two of the four tacos on his plate because he said they were greasy and inedible. All they consisted of was meat , a pinch of cheese and chopped tomatoes. Even though he asked TWICE for sour cream, he did not get it. Needless to say we will never visit this restaurant again, nor will we suggest it to our friends and family who live in the area. The one bright spot was the avocado appetizer, which was lovely. I'm not a complainer especially when it comes to food. A friend told us he had a horrible meal but we wanted to try for ourselves. We sat at the bar the bartender was friendly and margaritas were great. I had Spicy pineapple very good. Chips are fabulous and tried the salsa Verde which was good. Things were going great we were excited to get our tacos. My husband got the regular ground beef taco over rice, it was ok I definitely make better at home. I had the carne asada taco, it was literally inedible. Honestly probably the grossest bite of food I have ever had in my life. The chips are amazing, the salsa roja is alright. You can definitely taste the smoke of the chipotle in it (a bit too much for my tastes). First time here. We were excited to come but our entire experience was less than enjoyable. The hostess said they were full but we could sit at the bar. Ok..I get that. But an hour passed and there were multiple open tables. Drinks were ok but definitely not nothing special. Food was ok but nothing special. We were never asked how our food was. Our waitress, Colby, was so nice and attentive just enough. She is an asset to Xolo and made our long trip to Fenton well worth it.
