Ultimately the wash is always good or better. The issue ALWAYS is time. They always have more people working than WORKING. The guys here get it done but it's always one person on your car and three doing something else. I understand when the cars are stacked. But even now, my guy is putting in work and I'm inside with FIVE others. I'm waiting over an hour and someone could be on tires while the other is vacuuming and another touching up. I like this place because it is close, the price is fine and the workers are good. But the time is killing it. MANAGEMENT?? Come on now. Every time I come I say this is my last time. Drove many miles out of my way to patron a black run car wash, but unfortunately I was let down. We pulled up to the car wash and wasn't greeted or directed where to go. There were many random patrons(?) workers(?) staring at us and pointing to odd places in the road. We weren't sure if we were supposed to wait on the side or not, then another car pulls further into the driveway and was immediately attended to. After waiting a few more minutes searching for any sort of direction we finally just drove off. We ended up at some hand wash on 31st. It wasn't the fact that we wasted gas going there just to end up at another car wash or the time wasted. It's just sad that customer service isn't a priority ‍ We won't ever be back read more

Need a car wash... don't come here! Arrived in the evening. Didn't appear to be busy. However, this was my first experience because of a recommendation of someone I know. I arrived, there were 3-4 cars getting completed ahead of mind, a guy started on my car shortly after I arrived. THE WAITING AREA SMELLED LIKE MILDEW AND MARIJUANA. I got threw it but what got me is my LONG wait time. They literally took 40 minutes to wash my car. ONE person. I didn't understand this because they seemingly had the tools of the trade for a quality car wash. Clean drying towels, soap sprayer, and the air dryer to dry the door jambs. Per my observation, the staff, predominantly African American men, were taking their time and lacked a sense of urgency in completing their cars. I observed one smoking a cigarette and others talking to some other men near a black Escalade. Overall, the car was washed well, however, no better than any other hand car wash or automatic in my humble opinion. I will not be returning due to the fact they exhibited no sense of urgency and the operation seemed to be poorly run and inefficient. I feel like their counterparts in perhaps Bridgeport or Pilsen or south loop are equally busy if not more busy and they HUSTLE! I find them to be far more superior in that area of urgency of doing their best to work together as a team with a sense of urgency to get cars cleaned with minimal to no error to get customers satisfied and out the building. Waiting areas there didn't have any malodors or marijuana smells either. read more

I have to say they do great work, but the wait and to have cars lined up for over 35 minutes and when you ask they have an attitude. I use to come here often but this is the last time I will come to this car wash ever. Improve the service of you are gong to keep going up on the prices. I normally go to a car wash in the south loop but decided to try something new. Xpress hand car wash is nothing like its name, which I was pleasantly happy to find out. It is not your typical run the car through a machine nor does it give you one of those "like experiences". Yet, the wash is around the same price that you'd pay for one of those experiences. (Reg $14 for car and $16 for SUVs!) Yes, it's a bit rough around the edges. You may even hear the "management" arguing or people being a bit loud. Granted, they may not give you all the glitz and glitter that more "upscale" car washes give ,but, they GET THE JOB done and do it WELL! It's definitely worth a try. Just try to avoid typical "prime times" come between 8-10 & get $4 off any wash. It also looks like Thursday is Men's day, so I would avoid that if you didn't want to wait. Definitely worth the $16 for a car wash. They take their time and are always sure to address any small needs or areas I point out before the wash. Inside is always spotless especially the smaller crevices and nooks that need a quick vacuum but tend to go missed. For a hand wash they're pretty fast considering the amount of effort they put. It's usually about a 45-1hr wait when I go but that's also because there's always a 1-2 cars ahead of me, I'm sure it would be quicker if I came earlier and was one of the first cars cleaned. They have about 5-6 people cleaning cars and I've gotten 3 different people on 4 different occasions and I was pleased with the final job by all 3. I've gotten the hand wax before and it did a very good job of holding up well and for about a week and half of typical Chicago cold, rain, and mild snow in November. read more

Ask for Dan! He does a great job. The shop is okay. However, they play profanity-laced rap all day, even in Sunday's. Can you please consider customers who don't want to hear music which degrades women and full of profanity...give us a break m, at least on Sundays. Make it ladies day. read more

This a nice big hand carwash. Very nice waiting area. Has a little cellphone/T-shirt shop in it too. I come here a lot and for the most part they do a pretty good job and are pretty cheap for a hand car wash. But had to take away a star for the wait time. With no line your looking at almost an hour. They need to figure out how to cut that in half. read more

Idk why I never thought to do it before, but I turned to Yelp! Saw this spot that was close to home and work with decent reviews, so I went in today after work... And bro... They hooked my car UP! Great work! Comfortable waiting area where you can see what they doing to your car. And my car was cleaned immaculately. Hella cars in here right now. The set up is legit and it is A real HAND car wash. No machines anywhere. I have a small SUV and my price for a clean inside and out with wax was 18$. Now that wait time. You guys have to improve on. With 10+ guys working. It should take no more than 30-40 mins to get a car cleaned and vacuum. This will be a good hour and some change for a clean and vacuum. Doubt I will be coming back. Due to the wait time and employees complaining about cars being too dirty. Really. Was a bit skeptical about coming here, however, I was looking to come to a place nearby. To begin, the process took WAY TOO LONG. It's ridiculous, especially with a name like Xpress Car Wash. So many men on deck yet only one person is servicing your vehicle; I'm sorry, you can learn a thing or two from the Mexicans...Team Work is key, just come together people. The shop is dark, so I advise you to inspect your car in sunlight. Made it home and saw brown stuff on the back of my seat, not sure that was even there to start with. Slob from my dog still dripping down the back of my seats, then here's the kicker, why would these fools rip in half the work sticker on my front windshield? Ignorant, horrible job after I spent 1.5 hours waiting and gave these fools $18. Unacceptable, not satisfied will not be back. Save yourself the trouble, don't complain, the manager is NEVER in. Excellent hand detailed work! The guys are young but they are welcoming & entertaining. No complaints. I paid $14 for my Nissan Altima inside & out and they did an impeccable job. A tip is expected so be sure to have cash on hand, but they deserve it so no complaints there. Im new to this area and this will for sure be my go to shop. I did learn that the prices are rising October 3rd, but it should stay under $20 for cars. read more
