I have taken my teenaged daughter to this salon several times and have been pleased with the…read moreservice each time. I agree with the person who said the front desk can be problematic. Once when we arrived for our appointment, we found that the receptionist had scheduled our appointment for the folIlowing week, instead of the day we had asked for and had been told it was scheduled for! In addition, we have had other relatively minor issues with the front desk so I would advise verifying your appointment before you go! Megan has done my daughter's hair three times and did a great job each time. She cuts well and is fantastic with color. The last time my daughter went in with a deeply saturated turquoise color(which a friend did), Megan was able to remove all the turquoise and gave her a wonderful copper color which she had requested. Color correction is not an easy task for any stylist, and Megan did a fabulous job. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting color.

I offered to come back later today as this was about 12 30 and she said it would have to be tomorrow. pretty sure they weren't full for today and I surely didn't see any walk-ins coming in and out the 45 minutes that I was waiting for somebody to come to the counter to help me. not sure why I couldn't have run a couple errands and come back so she could do her five minute trim up of them as that I have. I only went in the first place because they have a $12 cut coupon Now it is turned into a nightmare, and I spent more than that gas going back-and-forth Good luck pennys

His makeup is not only flawless when I see him, but he was super friendly and knowledgeable about the products and price points. I'm not a huge makeup person and I like to think of my beauty routine as basic and minimal, but effective. That being said, Nick was always on hand to help me not only find the products I was looking for but suggested alternate makeup tips that were low maintenance and complimented the natural look that I have and want to enhance a smidge. I have moved to Alexandria, so he is a bit far now for makeup advice, but I wanted to express my gratitude for his guidance as well as recommend him to anyone that is looking for stellar beauty insights. Nick is the ideal person to have in a store like this, friendly, helpful, fun, and well versed in the products. Ask for him and you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Nick!

I have dark brown hair, and I wanted to go to light brown. I understood that I'd have to get my hair slightly lightened with bleach. This lady had my hair almost platinum for a shade that was maybe only two shades lighter than my hair. Excessive damage for no reason. Then as she dyed my hair, I kept feeling my hair touch my bare clothes. Long story short, she completely bleached the back of my brand new $90 hoodie. And didn't mention it to me. And my hair was burgundy and very patchy. My hair turned out damaged and not what I asked for at all. I ended up getting a full refund, minus tip, but I wish I could've gotten a refund, taken the tip, and been reimbursed for the sweatshirt. This happened over a year ago but as I read other reviews on the hair stylists here, I figured I'd chip in. ONLY giving two stars instead of one because I once got a haircut here from a different stylist and I absolutely loved it. This stylist had several tattoos and I believe her name was Shelby- but I'm not sure.

Background: I just had my hair professionally dyed purple using Prevana's Vivids line at a salon in…read moreanother city. My stylist recommended finding a violet-depositing shampoo for color maintenence, and suggested I look for something that is intended to tone brassiness. After doing some research, I settled on Joico's Color Endure Violet, as it's sulfate-free-- I have coarse curly hair, and sulfate has always been disastrous. I'm especially worried because I just bleached it, too. Anyway, Platinum is the only salon around here that carries Joico and I wanted to check it out in person to make sure it had enough color intensity and that I liked the smell. I called, they said they were out but that they'd have it in on Friday. Friday morning I walk in, but their shipment hasn't arrived yet. I didn't mind that, but the conversation I had with two of the stylists told me that they, at least, are uneducated. They kept insisting that the shampoo "is for blondes, it's a toning shampoo". I explained that I knew that, that I wanted the Joico because it tones brassiness by depositing violet which is on the opposite side of the color wheel. They just looked ... confused. I asked when they were going to get more in, they said Tuesday, and then suggested a different toning shampoo. I asked if it was sulfate-free, she said "I think so, let me go ask" and handed me the bottle while she left to ask. I look at the ingredients list: sodium lauryl sulfate is the second ingredient. She comes back, assures me that it's sulfate-free. I turn the bottle over, point to the sulfate and say "no, it's not." She continues insisting that it IS sulfate-free, that her boss is an instructor for this brand and that her boss says it's sulfate-free. I wasn't present for that conversation but I can only assume that either a) this young woman is lying, or b) her boss is ignorant. I left. I'd cracked open the conditioner and figured the shampoo probably smelled similar. Went home, ordered the Joico off Amazon for half of what I would have paid at Platinum (got a 34 oz bottle for $18). TL;DR-- at least three of staff at Platinum are at best uneducated, ignorant, and incompetent. Worst case at least one is a liar. Salons need to be trustworthy, but it's impossible for uneducated stylists to be trustworthy.
