Food: I went to eat here for the first time and we got 2 different broths. The tonkotsu (which was a nice overall taste that didn't overpower) and the sukiyaki (which was good but a bit on the sweeter side). We got a bunch of sides. It's all you can eat so we literally ordered almost half the menu lol everything was fresh. The only noodle that wasn't for me was the yam noodle. It was an interesting texture. There is also a sauce station where you can mix up your own science experiment of a sauce with whatever they have available. Also, We got the matcha ice cream at the end. It was a nice palette cleanser. You have to come really hungry to get your moneys worth but overall the food was good! Service: The service was great. They were really attentive and helpful. Super nice too! Ambiance: It's a good sized space inside. Lots of tables. We had a corner table by the front that has a window ledge next to it. So everytime my friend needed to get up, she would carefully have to squeeze around the ledge and when she didn't, there goes her ribs . All the other seatings didn't seem to have that problem, but ours, so just pick any seating but that one. Also, there seem to only be street parking.

One of my go-to spots for hot pot in the area. I like how they have updated their menu so soft drinks are included in the AYCE menu as well as the option to have two broths for your individual pot. There are a lot of non and vegetarian options as well. I recommend the sukiyaki + tonkotsku broth combination. As always, the staff is super friendly and the music they play is always a vibe. They also provided ice cream or a speciality dessert at the end. Perfect to visit on a chilly Winter night.

Food/Drinks: My first time trying hot pot, and it didn't disappoint! The endless apps, meats, veggies, and noodles were amazing. I loved the sauce station it was such a fun touch. The food was the star, and for $45 per person, it's a big bang-for-your-buck deal. The only downside was the limited alcoholic drink options either strong but not tasty, or tasty but weak. Still, 10/10 overall, and I'll definitely be back! Location: The location is charming with a cozy, low-light vibe great for a date, family outing, or night with friends. It's casual yet spacious and not too loud. Parking is easy to find on the surrounding streets, even without a dedicated lot. Perfect spot for any occasion! Service: The service was amazing! I wish I had caught her name. She took our orders and brought everything we needed. What I really appreciated was how kind she was when my friend asked to take some of the chicken from the unlimited appetizers left on our table to avoid wasting it, she gave her a box. She was incredibly thoughtful and made the experience even better! 10000x recommend

This place is AMAZING!! The CONCEPT is fantastic! And unlike a buffet where food is prepared way in advance of you dining everything was made to order! Hot pot is a fun experience to have & this was the first for my brother & I. We loved it. The food was delicious & fresh. Our drinks were great (lychee martini for me please!). Our server was helpful, friendly, & attentive. And the price is also a steal for all that you get w this offering (Kobe beef anyone?!). Highly recommend! Total treasure! Best kept secret on the restaurant scene.

This ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT hotpot is such a GEM! You can choose from different both flavors, seafood, meats, vegetables, noodles, appetizers, and ice-cream. What a steal! There's even was a sauce table where you'll see different types of oils, dressing, and garnishes to add to your soup or appetizers as well as steam white rice which was a nice addition. Service was also great, our sever was so kind and someone always came by and asked how everything was going which I appreciated. This whole place has a nice vibe, I love the music, decor, and the bar area even has a hotpot warmer if you just wanna go alone. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!!

Rating: 4.0 3rd time coming to this place and its time to review the place. Y shabu shabu is an Asian restaurant based on Japanese dish shabu shabu. Based on the name my assumption is that it's a sister restaurant from Y noodle as its across the street. Although it's based on shabu shabu it's more of an americanized hot pot place. The place is located in providence and is large establishment with many seatings and customizable ingredients for sauces and bar in the center. It's an all you can eat place with either vegetarian or meat options. You pick your broth and you order what you want including variety of meat, vegetables, seafoods, noodles and appetizers. This time we ordered to tonkotsu broth and creamy vegetable broth with assortment of food including Japanese pancake, chicken karaage, angus beef, americanized kobe beef, lamb, pork toro, bok choy, eggs, mushroom mix, shrimps, ramen noodles, glass noodles, and tofu. Appetizers Japanese pancake and chicken karaage were okay. I was not a huge fan of spice that they put on karaage. Meats were good but pork toro was too fatty and lamb did have some gamey flavor. Everything else was pretty average for the most part. One highlight was making your own sauce. It may be daunting for new people but if you know what you want this place have good selections. My personal go to is soy garlic mixed with peanut sauce with some garlic, scallions and cilantros with hint of sesame oil and oyster sauce. They also have rice and this time they also had some pork dish on the side which was decent. For those who know how to properly hot pot may know this but my tip for how to eat hot pot properly is to cook all the ingredients on hot pot and eat first then you use the broth that you have at the end to finish the dish with either noodles or rice. Personally I like to cook all the meat and vegetables to get the flavors into the broth. Then you add eggs, scallions, garlic, choice of seasoning like miso and soy garlic sauce to give bit of salty flavor and once egg is cooked you put some rice in to make a porridge. The porridge came out very good but I was already pretty full at this point. At the end they do also offer desert with choice of ice cream or crape cake. The deserts are okay but it's nice option to finish if you like sweets. Service is generally good but can be difficult to catch a waiter if the place is busy. Overall the place is good and very comparable to other hot pot places around. The downside is that it is on the pricy side, meat options are limited and that it can be very confusing to people who does not know hot pot well and may not have the best experience unless you have some prior knowledge.

cozy and warm~ there wasn't too many people inside surprisingly, but this was exactly what I needed today~ Prices went up recently, but it was such a filling experiment with lots of selection in the sauce station~ each person of given their individual pot which was great! I'm going to try all their veggies next time~

Y Shabu Shabu is an All You Can Eat hot pot restaurant. I made a reservation for six people for 7:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. It's a little dark inside but a good atmosphere for eating. Service was quick and we were visited frequently for fill ups. The fried appetizers were good but I wouldn't get as much next time. The top round was delicious and everyone was a big fan. I love how they have a wide variety of vegetables so you don't get bored. If you want to drink, they have a huge menu of beer, sake, cocktails, and more. I really liked the Pineapple Sake with the pulp! They have a few ice cream flavors and I chose matcha. It tastes very authentic and very good! Overall, I would come back!

I've always had a great meal at Y Shabu Shabu, and end up leaving very full. To start off, we got okonomiyaki and karaage as appetizers. For my broth, I always get tonkatsu because I prefer to dip my meat into a spicier sauce, so I want to balance the two out. We always get the first five beef's on the meat section, which are great. I sometimes get the szechuan beef as well, though it can be chewier than the other ones. I also like to get a healthy serving of vegetables, as well as fish balls/cakes and udon. Save room for ice cream too, since their matcha ice cream is delicious, though I opted for their tiramisu this time.

Every time I come visit, ViVi takes such good care of us!! My third time here now and I'll continue to come back. Vivi is very accommodating, greets you quickly upon arrival, and quick to make sure your table is cleared off for extra elbow space to dig into your hot pot goodness! Ambiance is low lighting, perfect for a date. They have good jams too, I've added some to my playlist lol. Very clean inside and restrooms are kept well too. The menu has a good variety of meats, seafood, noodles, veggies and broth. Herbal tea is the ish and they have Thai iced tea too. Pistachio ice cream is my fave, tastes better than the norm in grocery stores. Sauce station is legit and they have rice as well. My fave repeat items: spicy Szechuan broth, udon noods, quail eggs, PUMPKIN (a must!!), Kobe beef, salad app, spring roll app, watercress, corn, tofu, and mixed mushrooms. Here's my secret sauce recipe I ALWAYS mix up when I come; I call this one "Soukie's Secret Sauce": 1 spoon garlic, 2 spoon bean curd, 2 spoon sesame sauce, mad green onions, mad cilantro, 2 spoons sugar, 5 swirls sesame oil, fill bowl w/soy sauce... I promise you won't regret it.

Y Shabu Shabu is an all you can eat hotpot restaurant. My husband and I had a really great time here and it was our first time. There is a lot of open space and tables and bar seating. The server came to our table and informed us that we would choose a broth and then choose if we want to do premium ($45.99) or vegetarian ($41.99) choices. He also informed us that there is an additional charge if you leave a substantial amount of food and waste it. We chose the premium option to have more choices. There are appetizers, meat, seafood, vegetables, and noodles to choose from. We selected the tonkotsu broth and started with the okonomiyaki and the shumai. The okonomiyaki was so delicious and flakes were hot. The shumai was fried and took a little time to come out. They were smaller than the typical shumai, but tasted good. All the meat, seafood, vegetables, and noodles were very fresh and tasted amazing with the tonkotsu broth. We ended the meal with ice cream. I had a scoop of the matcha and strawberry. This was high quality ice cream. The matcha definitely had the matcha taste and there were bits of strawberry in that ice cream. There is also a sauce bar where you can make your own sauces. There are recommendations posted to create your own sauce depending on the broth you choose. The service was great. They came by to see if we wanted anything else and took away empty dishes. Though it is a bit pricy, I highly recommend coming here.

The Food is amazing, if you know how to do hot pot and you want some endless appetizers on top of your endless hoy pot this is the place to go! While the price was a bit expensive for my own liking and service was a struggle, having to constantly ask for our own water jug to be refilled (each table was given a water "bottle" jug that was meant to share with the whole table). Additionally it was kinda hard to get more ingredients for our hot pot and appetizers. A recommendation if this review is ever seen is getting little signs for the tables to say "come back" or "refill" and the other side of the little table sign would be like "eating" or "enjoying the Shabu" for something fun and easier to see when others need assistance at tables. Besides all that, the design and setup of the place was great, getting sauces was very convenient as it was right up front and the addition of rice was nice as I don't often see that at general hot pot places.

This is one of our favorite date night spots! Hot Pot is a dining experience, which helps elevate the fun of a date night. Choose from a vast menu of items to create your perfect meal, and the entire prix fixe menu is all you can eat! We love the traditional Shabu broth, extensive sauce bar, variety of homemade appetizers and desserts, and fresh vegetables and meat. The servers are always helpful and prompt, and reservations are available but not necessary. Beer and wine is available, as well as Japanese sodas. Street parking only, but it's not a long walk. A must try!

Sometimes you might get a couple of lonely mushrooms or 3 green leaves for a serving of Bok Choy. That was not the case here. The fish and meats were fresh and if you opt for the VIP option, there are appetizers included to nibble on while you cook your other stuff. You also get some more premium options and the hand pulled noodles had a nice chew to them. The service was good. They were efficient with cleaning plates as we used them and the food came out quickly. The sauce station has all the staples you'd expect to assemble your sauce. When it comes to the food, it's hard to fully judge because of our experience with the service. The food I did try was pretty good, the meats were fresh, and some of the sides that came with them were really tasty. I mainly got full on the unlimited appetizers, which I really liked. Due to our service we didn't get a lot of items we truly wanted. Location: This location has a modern look with some nice traditional touches. It felt spacious, and we were seated in an area for larger groups. It's definitely a casual place that's good for families and get togethers. They do have private free parking. Service: The service is the reason I'm giving this place three stars. We were a party of 12 and divided by two tables of 6. We had two servers assigned to us. The women waitress was very friendly, but the older male waiter made the experience unpleasant. The process wasn't explained when we arrived, and we were supposed to circle the meats we wanted on a paper. However, he only asked one person at our table of 6 what they wanted, took the paper away before the rest of us could order, and told him he would bring the food which btw my friend only circled two items the guy rushed him and said "is ok I bring". About 10 minutes later, a cart full of meats that none of us ordered was brought to our table. When we asked for the items we actually wanted, he told us we had to eat what was already had the cart before he would bring anything else. I explained that nobody at our table had ordered those meats, but instead of acknowledging the mistake, he blamed the girl waitress, I don't think he realized I was watching him the whole time. I told the girl Waitress idk why he's trying to find who to blame when it was him. Thankfully, she was very accommodating and made sure we received the items we had originally wanted. 20% automatic charge due to the size of the group which I do feel like it's fair if the service was to par, but unfortunately it wasn't and we still paid that. Truthfully, I wouldn't come back. There are so many new hot pot restaurants in the area that I'd rather try. After reading other reviews, I noticed this seems to be a common experience.

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

The dining area is spacious and cute, and the staff here is always incredibly nice and knowledgeable. Very helpful when there is a lot of dishes you might not be familiar with ! Chengdu is a must try if you are in the Smith Hill area of Providence. In fact , it's worth a trip to Smith Hill all on it's own.

They have an extensive menu so I'm going to give the benefit that some dishes may be better. We ordered the hot and sour soup which was nice and vinegary. Full of tofu and vegetables. We also ordered the mapo tofu and the Chongqin chicken. Tofu was ok. I expected it to be spicier. It's just tofu and sauce with green onions. Tofu was silky. Chicken was good. Pieces were nicely deep fried and juicy. I also didn't find it spicy despite being told it was spicy. They charge $1.95 per bowl of rice. Overall an ok place for me. Not in a hurry to return but if I do, I'd like to explore some of their other dishes.

We asked for waters as well and let the waiter, who was always available, know when we needed a refill. Everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. I had expected a bit more spice on some of the dishes, but they were all very mild, so if you are worried about Sichuan spiciness or heat, you can put that worry to rest. Chopsticks only are at the table and although we didn't ask for forks, I suspect they could rustle some up for you if needed. The hot & sour soup is good according to my SO who gets it everywhere (and will let me know if it's a thumbs up or down). The décor is lovely and everything is clean, including the gender neutral restroom. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and service was excellent. They did a good amount of take out business during our visit. Free on-street parking was easy to find during our week day lunch visit.

It definitely hit the spot for my spicy noodles craving. It's also super close to the bus station, making it super easy to navigate from here, even on late nights.

I've been meaning to try this place, and I'm so glad I did because I'm obsessed!!! I got the malatang soup with level 3 spice, and the flavor is so amazing. The highlight of the dish for me is how they cooked everything so perfectly; I've definitely encountered malatang spots that either overcook or undercook the noodles/veggies but I've never had the ingredients cooked this well. The service was also so fast and they were super nice!! I came here on a Friday night and it was completely empty, which makes sense because it's summer and this spot is located in a college town. But I would 1000% come to the Brown University area JUST for this. The store is also super pretty and it even has a photobooth! I really hope that this place gets the love that it deserves; it's a small business that deserves so much more hype. I've tried so many different malatang spots in California, and this is definitely up to par with those (-: And it's a lot more affordable than other malatang spots too. Please please try this place; I highly recommend!! Especially with the sweet potato glass noodles!

I cannot say enough good things about this place! My friends and I had all been to a hot pot…read morerestaurant in different states before, and were looking for a similar experience here in PVD. 12 dumplings and hot pot definitely did not disappoint!! Their menu selection is extensive and well priced! They also give rather large portion sizes, and have an " all you can eat" option starting at just $35 per person! They have a variety of options, including those for meat lovers and vegetarians alike! The addition of sesame balls and shrimp dumplings on the side is also a must, as they offer ( as the name says) various selections of delicious dumplings! In regard to the restaurant ambiance and layout, the Hot Pot section is located on the second floor and offers large tables with the heated pad for the hot pot. They also have a large selection of condiments and add-ons to the hot pot on the side of the restaurant. Lastly the servers were very kind and apologetic even after they gave us a non-fully vegetarian broth ( the mushroom name was misleading) and even offered to give us an entirely new pot. I thought this was very sweet and considerate of them. Overall, the experience at this restaurant was wonderful and we will definitely be back for more.

On a Friday evening, I went to 12 Dumplings with a group of three. We knew we wanted hot pot so we were instructed to go upstairs. The staff greeted us upstairs and were seated right away. We looked at the different options - AYCE hot pot and hot pot value combo meal. We went with the AYCE hot pot. There are 2 course options - A or B for a 2 hours time limit. Different items are included with each course option. The dipping sauce and fruit bar are included in both course options. The dipping sauce bar had many different options. The fruit bar included oranges and cantaloupe. Also, there was pickled radish and this was a great side. The A COURSE is $35.95/per person. First step is choosing a soup base. We went with half Japanese Style Pork Bone Broth and half Mala Beef Tallow Broth. We ordered all the seafood/ball options - Cuttlefish Ball, Shrimp Ball, Fish Ball, Fish Tofu, and Quail Egg. From the meat options, we ordered Chef Selected Beef, Australian Lamb, and Pork Belly. From the vegetables options, we ordered Napa Cabbage and Baby Bok Choy, From mushroom options, we ordered both the Enoki Mushroom and Black Fungus. From the tofu options, we ordered Fresh Tofu and Fried Tofu. From the noodles options, we ordered Glass Noodle and Ramen. All the items were very fresh and the staff were very attentive. They came by to refill the broth and ask if we wanted to order more. We all had a great time around a giant pot of flavored broth and took turns dipping in raw ingredients at 12 Dumplings. It is perfect on a winter day and we were stuffed. I can't wait to come back to try their dumplings and dim sum.
