I've ordered the prefix menu which is a really good deal. It's $14 and I share it with one other person and we still have left overs. This weekend I went to there buffet which is from 12-3. I was in New York visiting a friend, we decided that we've had too many pizzas for a NYC trip, and decided to eat some Indian food. We Yelped for Indian food around where he lives, and found this place. Yaar had solid reviews on Yelp, so we decided to give it a go. The place look small, cozy, and very clean. We started with samosas and ordered Butter chicken and Lamb Korma with some rice and naan. The food was exceptional. Even after coming back to Atlanta, I crave the taste that I found at Yaar. Oh yaar, you rocked my socks off! There are few places that tell me to stop ordering food cause it's too ridiculous, Yaar was one of them, and like every other one of my favorite dining spots that do this, they were totally right. oh yeah, this place is BYOB! First of all, Yaar may be the super popular take-out place, but I'm here to argue that dining in can also be fun. Yaar is very large, clean, and fairly contemporary, as far as Indian restaurants go. When you walk in, you may be fooled by the adjacent bar and maybe the empty tables, but don't let that fool you, the culinary treasures are hidden beyond the kitchen doors, only revealed through yelp-of mouth. My wife and I totally made reservations here, only to find out we were the only patrons at 7pm on a Sat night. That being said, the food is outta this world. My favorite was the chicken wings, o....m....g, the meat just falls off the bone and every bite seemed to have simultaneously warmed and spiced up my soul, didn't know that was even possible. The lamb marsala was equally tantalizing with its chewy, but not rubbery texture and just so perfectly served with the sauce. The nan was ok, but it came with our price fix. Oh yeah, there's totally a price fix that you'd be silly not to take advantage of! Oh yeah, the mango lassi is also different than any other lassi I've ever had, as it combined a myriad of spices unknown to my untrained tastebuds, but hell it was great! The paneer saag was delicious, although not too earth shattering, but all that went away when we tried the chicken tajin. Dear baby jebus, Yaar knows how to work a chicken, you just gotta try it. My only dish that I didn't love so much was the lamb sausage...which I thought was way too salty, but also a dish that the server didn't recommend, so it's kinda my fault. My first take out from here. Did prix-fixe menu for $13.95. It was all delicious and filling. Lentil soup is yellow & creamy. Chicken vindaloo was actually spicy. Finally! An indian restaurant with spicy & not "american spicy" food. Good chicken chunks. The basmati rice is flavored with fennel seeds and mild curry flavor. So so tasty. Gulab jamun is my favorite dessert (after the rice pudding with cashews....loooove it) theres something heavenly about that honey syrup. Decor is modern, calm. Gorgeous bar lighting. Ordered Chicken Tikka Masala for pick up last week. It was ready quickly and was very yummy for a cold night. I also got the roti with it, which was nice and warm and perfectly complemented the dish. 3.5 rounded up for some cool menu options, and truly delicious korma! Didn't have the tummy wherewithal to order from my usual "spices the way they do over yonder" place. Yaar looked good. Tried them out. Delivery was within a reasonable amount of time. However, no utensils or napkins were included. Mulligatawny Soup was fine. Some oddly textured bits up in there. But doable, and enough quantity to match the reasonable price. Love that they offer a trio of samosas. Loved the lamb one. Liked the chicken. Veggie was perfectly fine (just a big carnivore here). I do think they should consider making each flavor a different shape to differentiate flavors. They're all currently cone shaped...and you have no idea what innards you'll be enjoying until you bite inside. Nice chutneys for dipping, though! Loved the korma itself. Nice chunks of lamb. They could be cooked longer to make them more tender, as there is a bit too much chew to each piece (due to them being so large). But wonderful curry, loved the big chunks, and super fluffy rice (could use a little extra for the amount of curry...or make a note to order naan). Yaar is no my go to "milder" Indian option for the 'hood. And I'll likely try again and ask for spicy to see how they do it up. Give 'em a whirl! read more

The shrimp tikka masala, lamb samosa (soooo good, served for dipping with spicy cilantro sauce and tamarind), and the Saag Paneer - which has some heat to it. In true American fashion, my go-to is the chicken tikka masala with naan. Also, I did the check-in deal while waiting on my pickup order and they added naan to the order! I got there shortly after they opened for the day, so there was like- nobody else there which was great lol The service was excellent, very attentive waiter, and the place was very clean. I'm a wimp and don't experienent too much with Indian food and I'm probably missing out on some really good stuff- but I always tend to order the chicken tikka masala which I did- and it was delicious. I usually come here in the daytime for the self-serve buffet but recently I started doing dinner, and I just can't go back to buffet style. Don't get me wrong, the buffet has always been a great feat for this place. The options include all the items you'd expect an Indian buffet to have, not to mention the food is fresh and tastes authentic. The service is exceptional as well. But dinner from here simply outdoes the buffet by a long shot. The menu is loaded, they have prix fix options in the back, the portions are generous and each entree comes with a side of basmati rice. I usually order garlic naan on the side just so I have something to dip into my butter chicken. The atmosphere in the restaurant is calm and quiet. The mood is very peaceful if you're looking to bring a date here. They even have a wall painting in the back of two desi women on swings which adds a nice touch and ties the aesthetic together. 10/10 would recommend this place! read more

The food is fantastic but the service has progressively become worse and worse. A few weeks ago my fiancé and I ordered delivery through GrubHub. When we did not receive a confirmation we called Yaar to confirm their receipt of the order. They asked for our address and what we ordered and confirmed that they had received it. 2 hours later when the food had not been delivered we called the restaurant only to be told they did not actually have the order and that it would take up to another 2 hours to receive our food. Despite this, we tried again. The food was delivered, however the order was missing an item. When I called to address the issue and ask for it to be delivered, I was first told that they were sorry and that they would make it up to me next time. When I explained that was unacceptable and that I expected what I paid for, it was like pulling teeth to have them agree to deliver the missing item. It is sad to see the service of Yaar slowly go downhill, but at this point I will be placing my orders elsewhere. read more
