I'm new to Newport and have been going out to eat a lot since moving here and I haven't had to spare any expense. Of all the places I've been to, this is the place I keep coming back to several times a week. I'm not eating anything I haven't had before, but I'm enjoying each dish so much. I've also been here enough times to realize what a comfortable place this is for myself and apparently everybody else I see in the place. Stopped in here on a cold night looking for a warm bowl of sustenance. I will readily admit, that I was looking for curry and went into a ramen spot (shame on me), but the moose name, the lodgey feel, and the Asian cuisine was a mixture I had to see for myself. The chicken satay was excellent. Very juicy and flavorful. If the same chicken was in my ramen, I probably would give this place a five star review. The curry ramen was filled with a spicy flavorful broth and a healthy serving of accoutrements but the chicken was very dry. Given that was my only complaint and the woman who served me was extremely gracious, mountain moose earns my recommendation. Note, if you're looking for massamam curry, just go to a Thai restaurant. read more

We went here for evening take out. Food was good and portions/prices were more than fair. The prevailing memory though was how friendly and helpful the young lady who took our order was. Even though we were "just ordering take out" she was helpful with the menu and suggestions and treated us more like friends than customers. Service was quick. I liked that a lot. I ordered takeout here after a Christmas party across the street and it was pretty good. Not the best Thai in the world, but certainly not the worst. The pad Thai was good, the wings were good, and the rolls were all good. The chicken in the pad Thai was a bit weird so I ate around it but other than that it was a good experience. read more

Ordered take out. The online ordering was very well organized and easy. Food was ready right on time. The food was excellent! We tried 3 things... The chicken satay with peanut sauce was excellent...generously sized chicken skewers with very tasty slight sweet peanut sauce. The Crab Rangoon was also excellent. My friend is more of fan of these than I am and didn't plan on eating more than one, but these were so flavorful and crispy...maybe the best crab Rangoon I've had. The Vietnamese Boon with beef lemongrass was great! I loved that the beef was cut into small pieces/shreds. The beef had so much flavor there was almost no need to add the sweet/sour sauce to the noodles. The sweet/sour sauce was excellent too. I would have liked a bit more cilantro on the boon, but that 's my personal preference. I can't comment on the decor/ambiance because my friend went in to get the take out order. The street it is located on is very small/narrow so I had to stay in the car in case I needed to move it (since I was blocking the street). My wife and I were visiting Newport and looking for a place that had decent vegetarian options and we found this place. It was awesome! They have quite an extensive menu and were very accommodating for our needs. The food was bursting with flavor. My wife had the Pad Thai and I had the Yaki Soba. We were able to get both with tofu. The prices were reasonable and the portions were awesome! Service was great too! The place has a nice relaxing atmosphere and the owners were super nice too! We really enjoyed stopping here. Our first time to Mountain Moose, and honestly, I would say this is a hidden gem! Aside from the incredibly sweet server who was more than accommodating to my allergies, The food was great. The thai iced tea was great, I had two myself and my boyfriend drank the entirety of his, the crispy spring rolls were fresh and a perfect appetizer before our main course designing our own ramen bowls. We both tried the Rice Vermicelli noodles with the Pho broth, and added on hard boiled eggs, edamame, braised beef and lime. Overall the flavors worked well together. This place was so unexpectedly good! We went in and the staff was really helpful and the restaurant was very clean and organized. Based on the menu and moose mascot we weren't too sure at first, but this place is amazing!! We ordered the house Moose soup, which has a curry base, beef, edamame, corn mushroom, boiled egg, and crisp dumplings. Best soup we've had in a while. Well balanced flavors. We also ordered the sesame balls which were fresh and crispy with a great sesame flavor. Lastly, we ordered crab rangoons which were the freshest and most well seasoned we've ever had. We stopped here on a whim and were so happy with our experience! I love the self-serve method here, we ordered at the counter and helped ourselves to condiments and water. We were walking along trying to decide what to eat, when we found this little place with a soft opening in progress. QR codes and pictures were outside the restaurant deck area, where there is space for tables, if the weather was warm. We decided to give it a try. The place looked great inside. When you walk in, there is immediately a drink cooler, and the menu board is on the wall, where you order, and your meal is brought to the table. The entrance area was pretty tight, especially if there are more than 2-4 people coming in at the same time. I'm sure management will figure that out. We ordered pad Thai and Dan Dan noodles. We both enjoyed our meals. They came out within a reasonable time, and were piping hot. While waiting for our noodle bowls to cool, we enjoyed a sample of complimentary rangoons. Delicious! The dining room isn't super large, but a decent size to accommodate a reasonable crowd. You will bus your own table when finished, and there is a station with utensils, sauces, cups, takeout containers, and even a dispenser of cold lemon water. The prices were very reasonable, we thought, for noodles. We would definitely consider coming back the next time we are in Newport! read more

Me and my partner got takeout from here, and I brought it back to her work to be eaten there with her. I got Orange Chicken, which was very good! Deep fried, large pieces of chicken, in white rice with house sauce and some vegetables. Very good! My partner chose Pad Thai, no protein, Spice Level 2. This small spice addition happened to be far too much for her, and we called back and they very generously replaced her meal, no extra cost. We apologized and they did, too, adding that we could ask for the chili powder on the side next time, which we certainly will do. I like the food here, and their attitude makes me very much want to choose and support them! PS, I spent 2 months in Bangkok during college, and I can attest that the Pineapple Fried Rice with Bok Choy TRANSPORTED me back there. It is literally the closest thing since the year 2000 when I returned, that I have eaten in America. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed. Girl: As a plant-based eater, I was blown away by the pineapple fried rice. It was LOADED with a delightful mix of super fresh veggies. It was bursting with flavor and wellbeing. Delicious pho and crispy duck noodles!!!! I stopped in multiple times throughout a chilly winter week and all I can say is I loved everything about this business!! Prime location on Thames Street with excellent food to match!! A modern and quaint interior! All I can say is the duck noodles blew me away!! The food comes out quickly after being ordered and offered a unique and very crispy yet succulent duck coated in a delicious thick sugary hoisin sauce!! Equally as yummy with a surprisingly deceptive kick was the pho! Warning add chilis at your own peril because the spice level will increase substantially quickly! I heard about this spot from a friend. My boyfriend and I went as we have been awaiting the opening for a while. The food options are amazing. Ramen, rice, noodle dishes, make your own bowls, bao buns, rangoons. They have everything. We tried the crispy rolls, kung pao chicken and drunken noodles. The kung pao is nice and crispy with incredible spicy flavor. The presentation was beautiful too. The drunken noodles were sweet and flavorful I was blown away. The woman at the front was super friendly, she let us try their crab rangoons (to die for) and she walked us through the menu. This was my best food experience in Newport in a while. We ordered the food to go and the packaging of the food was the best I have seen. Everything was vented so it wouldn't get soggy. The taste of the food was amazing. We ordered bao buns, king pao chicken and drunken noodles and a couple apps. All the dishes were great and had the exact level of spice requested. It is quite a coincidence that the only 2 of these are in two of the locations we happen to go to just about every year (Newport and North Conway). And the first one we went to was the one in North Conway last year (and nothing to rave about). I have a wanna be asian food fan, so we end up trying asian places here and there. The one in the North Conway I think we would have given 2/3 stars as being an average place, 3 out of 4 of my family would not have bothered to return for a second meal. The one in Newport my daughter ordered online takeout from (glad I decided to refrain). One of the dishes came back so spicy neither girls would eat it, after clearly ordering non-spicy ($16 in the trash). I think there are better restaurants for asian food in Newport for the price, I'd go to them (I went to Thai on Thames and Tokyo House last year and really enjoyed them). This is more like an overpriced fast food asian place. I don't tend to be critical, but when you are on vacation looking for things to go right, it is no fun to have them go wrong, or be disappointing. And worse when you have a screw up that costs you more time and money trying to make up for it after, thank god we brought food for the fridge in our condo or we would have been scrambling. Can't recommend from my experiences, and I'm an easy/sympathetic mark usually. read more
