    Queso Fundido

This place is so so good and the people are so so nice. Went for breakfast and got tamales, queso fundido, and huevos rancheros with agua de sandida and then a green juice to go. Everything was so flavorful this might be one of my top restaurants of all time actually. Very casual, can be take out or dine in. Can't believe this is in Santa monica

We had a fantastic experience at Yagul! We went on a Wednesday morning, there were a few people in but our service was fast and friendly. We both got the house coffee and the breakfast burrito, and both were DELICIOUS. They also brought us an array of salsas to try - all were fresh and so tasty. Our server Lorenzo was super friendly and helpful, and even gave me a to-go cup for my coffee without me asking! Our entire bill was $47 before tip - definitely great value. I would highly recommend Yagul (and Lorenzo)!

So let me start off by saying that I do not give 5 stars out easily. It's rare when I do. I need to be blown away to give 5 stars, and this was 10 stars!!!! When I tell you I felt like I was eating a home cooked meal in someone's house, I'm so serious. This place was delicious. The waitress was the sweetest person in the world and she treated us like family. I got the mole enchiladas and it was easily one of the best dishes I've ever had. The rice and beans even were the best I've had! I can't believe I always passed by this place and never tried it until now. Easy street parking

    Chilaquiles with Oaxacan latte

Latte was the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate, not overly sweet so one could still savor the unique espresso taste. Chilaquiles with eggs and chorizo reminded me of breakfast at my mom's house. I look forward to coming back here

Super cute family owned place. Both service and food was excellent. The husband got the oxacan mocha latte and the chilaquiles and I got the oxacan chocolate caliente and the chorizo con huevo. Both dishes had great flavor and the hot drinks were lovingly made and creamy. Would recommend if you are in the area!

In A Nutshell: -Yagul is a Oaxacan oasis. -I found out about this place while exploring the neighborhood & noticed a lot of people popping in/out. -Not only that the beautiful smell of Mexican food wafted into my nostrils, so I mentally bookmarked this spot. -Not too long later, I came in for a nice breakfast. -The Huevos Rancheros really hit the spot. -The portion was not too big & everything tasted fresh, especially the beans & rice. Overall, the service is very friendly & I liked the prices too.

    Mole Enchiladas

We ordered three dishes in total. One was excellent, while the other two were okay. I felt the prices were a bit on the high side, but given that it's in Santa Monica near the beach, it's understandable. One thing worth mentioning is that they served the food on hot plates, which left a very good impression.

    Huevos rancheros- 10/10, highly recommend.

Wow. Authentic, delicious, meticulously prepared food. Friendly, patient, and professional service. Came here based on the fantastic reviews and the 4.9 is well deserved.

We ordered Memelitas and Mole Enchiladas (chicken and veg). They were very tasty. The young servers working there were very attentive and friendly. We would definitely go back there again.

The entire staff was incredibly kind, and the manager, Luis, was very attentive, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of. The food is beyond amazing -- everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Since my first visit I have come back multiple times, and have received outstanding service each time. I came on Valentine's Day and it was beautifully decorated. It was also EXTREMELY BUSY, and again, Luis stepped up and became the backbone for his staff. From hosting, serving, bartending, and working hard to make everything flow smoothly. I have such a wonderful experience each time I come, not only with the food but also with the manager and staff. The restaurant is very clean, which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. No matter the time or how busy it is, my food comes out in a reasonable amount of time, and nothing ever feels rushed or forgotten. What really stood out to me was how much the manager seems to genuinely care about both the staff and the overall environment. He was constantly moving around, checking in on everyone, making sure guests are happy and that his team is doing okay as well. It's really warming to see that level of dedication and leadership. Overall, this is one of my new favorite places to come due to my positive and memorable experiences. Great food, amazing service, and such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent customer service. They'd been open maybe an hour and there was one other person there picking up an order. First time here. The guy at the counter was very friendly, asked if I knew what I wanted, and I told him no and asked what's popular. He recommended three tacos so I went with that. He never asked about tortillas so they came out on corn. I'm not the biggest fan of corn tortillas, but after I sat down, I looked at the soda cup, and saw "handmade corn AND flour tortillas." Would've gone flour if I'd known that was even an option. My bad for not asking, but also a great opportunity to let a new customer know it's an option. Food came out fast. Three tacos, chips, a couple sides of salsa. All the meat was cold. Not fridge cold, but noticeably below room temperature. I'm sitting five feet from the kitchen in a place that opened 30 minutes ago. How is that even possible? The non-beef tacos were seasoned well, both of them, that part was fine. The beef was where it fell apart. Every single bite had pieces I literally couldn't chew through, and I kept pulling chunks out of my mouth. After my second bite I just stopped going back for more. For over $4 a taco, that quality is atrocious. Very fast if you need something quick to eat. First and last time for me.

We arrived early before they opened for lunch so we waited at a table outside. Since they opened a few minutes late, we were not sure about the employee situation so once inside, we chose to sit at the bar since we were the only ones at the restaurant. The bartender pleasantly greeted us and asked for our drink order. I went traditional with a skinny margarita and my husband had a screwdriver which pairs very well with Mexican food. The kitchen was just getting started so we waited a few minutes to order. The menu had so many great choices, we were excited to order our food. I went with the Shrimp Ceviche which was so fresh and delicious. I loved that there was so much shrimp and not a lot of onions and peppers filling the bowl. The fried crunch tortilla was also great for scooping the ceviche. My husband is more of a burrito naturalist so his chicken stuffed burrito was great. It had all the fresh ingredients neatly wrapped tight for easy eating. The service was very good and the restaurant did get quite crowded shortly after opening. I also enjoyed their homemade hot sauce that was just spicy enough when mixed into the complimentary mild salsa that came with the complimentary chips. I would definitely return to check out the other menu items.

Even during the slower parts of the day, she is incredibly friendly, warm, and attentive. She has a genuine way of making you feel welcome the moment you sit down. She is a seasoned professional and a true asset to the team. **A Note on the Experience** One thing I noticed during my visit was how focused the staff is on the entrance. I realized the entire team is trained to greet every single person who walks through the door whether they are heading to the bar, the host stand, or leaving for the day. While the management's dedication to hospitality is clear, it can feel a bit unnatural to have that constant distraction during a conversation. Every time I've ever been into the restaurant, the host always has always said hello and goodbye. The veterans here, especially Kathy, are the fabric of this place; their natural ability to care for guests is what makes this location special. **To the Owner:** You have an exceptional team.
