The food is good, and the servers are very pleasant, but table service seems limited to dropping off your food and disappearing. This has happened on all three of our visits. If the service were a little more attentive, I'd easily give them 4 stars. The menu is printed in what feels like font size 4. It's so long that opening it is like unfolding a newspaper. It's a commitment. You're not making it to the end of that menu. And with 40+ items, you have to wonder how every dish could possibly stay fresh. Also, we were not a fan of the greasy mac and cheese. Brus Wiffle is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. The design, atmosphere, and overall aesthetic are outstanding. It's the kind of place that immediately makes you think you're in for a great meal. I stopped in while visiting my wife during her lunch break at the hospital. I originally planned to bring her food, so I happened to have a Kool-Aid cup in my hand when I walked in. After I'd already placed my order, I was told they don't allow outside food or drinks. I understand restaurants have policies, but this felt like one of those moments where a little common sense and hospitality would have gone a long way. I wasn't bringing in another restaurant's meal--I was already buying food from you. As for the food itself, we ordered the $10 double smash burger. It was fine, but it was tiny and ultimately forgettable. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but there also wasn't anything that made it stand out. The biggest disappointment was the $7 "truffle fries." After the first bite, I looked at my wife and said, "Whatever you're thinking, I just had the exact same thought." They simply weren't good. For $7, I expected something memorable, but honestly, McDonald's fries are more enjoyable for less than half the price. I genuinely want this place to succeed because the location and atmosphere are fantastic. Right now, though, it feels like the aesthetics are carrying the experience. Improve the fries, make the burger feel like a better value, and be a little more flexible with customer interactions. The service was great & we enjoyed a lingering visit over the waffles. I always think that I'm going to try something else, but I always order the red velvet waffles!! We hadn't been to Bru's Wiffle for almost a decade since the one in Marina del Rey closed but today we tried Bru's in Santa Monica. We sat in the beautiful back patio garden surrounded by beautiful potted plants and happy diners. We started with the outstanding hot chocolate served elegantly in a cup and saucer. I'd rate it right up there with the best hot chocolates! We had the Dwight's Special-a Belgian waffle topped with two crispy boneless, skinless pieces of chicken breast. We added butter and syrup because-well, we just wanted to! We also had the plain Belgian waffle with a side of perfectly cooked crisp bacon. Made reservations here for my brothers birthday back in August. Everything was a breeze from making the reservations down to our overall experience in this place. :) The food was great, they actually came out very quick after ordering. The service of the staff members for our party of 13 was amazing! They were all so pleasant, the hostess, the servers and all we came across. Before we were seated, one of them asked me discreetly if we were celebrating something and I told her my brothers birthday and she said they'd have something for him before we leave. As soon as I asked for the bill, a "happy birthday" song came on and the servers came with a cute little stack of pancakes that was presented in such a cute way! They sang and wished him happy birthday and he felt very special. The food portions were great and filling and the prices seemed to be pretty fair . There's street parking but if that's too busy there's a parking structure across the street Definitely recommend this place. The restaurant itself is cute and trendy. The yellow building stands out! I tried both their Chicken & Waffles as well as the Chilaquiles. The chicken was really dry for me. Their Spanish Latte was quite yummy though! Our waitress was very kind but inattentive. They were fairly busy when we first got there, but completely dead by the time we left. As much as I wouldn't want to return because I think there are better choices in the area, I think I will likely be going back. We have been going to bru's wiffle, religiously, since its opening. It has been one of my favorite places forever and it's our Mother's Day tradition to order from here. That i am writing a review on Mother's Day should tell you everything you need to know. My husband put in the order 2 and a half hours prior to picking it up. He still had to wait 20 min when he arrived. The grapefruit juice was delicious and that's where the good ended. Everything else was bad. The fries were old (they used to be my favorite). The chicken was smaller than usual and dry as hell. The ranch was still delicious but half the portion it used to be. The breakfast burrito was trash and the Nashville chicken sandwich was not tasty. Once upon a time (about 10ish years ago), Bru's Wiffle was the place to be. The line used to be out the door, and you had to strategize to get a table, but the food was worth it! These days, there's a similar wait for a table, but it seems for different reasons - perhaps service issues. I got seated after a bit of a wait and ordered; the server wasn't very friendly, but I get it, the place was busy. But then, it took forever to get my food, an eggs benedict dish. I saw everyone get their food around me as I waited and waited. When the food finally arrived, the poached eggs were overdone. This place gives a hole in the wall vibe, and it's off the beaten path (not that popular). We got a table so quick at 11am. The service was fast too. We ordered, and the food came out in about 15 minutes. Which may or may not seem long (to each their own). The waffle was so good! Bru's Wiffle in Santa Monica, is the OG Bru's in my eyes. The service is always on point, the restaurant is always clean, and the chicken and waffles are always piping hot and never cold like their Marina location. The menu is quite extensive and gives you loads of options to pair with your chicken, or waffles, or neither! I prefer the traditional chicken and waffles with all of the condiments on the side. This includes the buffalo sauce, ranch, syrup, and ketchup. With so many delicious options, there's always something for everyone. The drinks are delicious, coffee and mimosas included. Amazing restaurant! Came here today for breakfast with a couple of my friends. This place has been on my bucket list and I couldn't wait to try it. When you first walk in, the restaurant is so warm and inviting. It definitely has a welcoming vibe to it. It's a good sized restaurant with plenty of seats so we had no issues with our party of 5. The staff were so welcoming and nice. They suggested great recommendations for dishes and were so personable. The food is simply amazing and the portion sizes can't be beat for the prizes. For food, we ordered a number of items. We ordered the big breakfast, the breakfast slides with waffles, and the hashy browns with crispy fried chicken and eggs. quick service, cute place. they have some outdoor seating out front and potentially in the back (not 100% sure since I didn't go out there) but the inside is quaint and has a decent amount of seating for a smaller place. the service was quick when I went (10:30 am on a Friday). they were kind as well. I haven't had a good gluten free chicken and waffles in quite some time so this was delicious and a great portion of food (enough for a little bit later). the only thing I would say could use a slight improvement was the syrup. Credit cards accepted. I had the Dwight's special which came with two pieces of chicken (boneless) and your choice of waffle or French toast. I prefer the waffles. The syrup comes on the side along with a ranch and an aioli. I also had the lavender honey latte, which was on the sweeter side and lighter on the lavender, but still tasty. I've really debated whether I should ever leave this review. I actually love their food. I really do. For years I have gone to this place. When I lived in Santa Monica, I was in walking distance and probably went weekly. If friends wanted to meet somewhere for brunch or I had out-of-town guests and I needed to pick a place that they would love without fail, Bru's Wiffle would be the place. The servers were all very friendly and though the wait could be long, it was worth it every time. I never took anyone there who wasn't happy after their meal. The food is just as delicious as it always has been. The service is still excellent. None of that has changed... which is sort of the problem. Dwight's special --simply chicken & waffles-- is now $22.95. Adding tax puts you at $25 and then with gratuity you're at over $30. To get chicken & waffles for one person and drink tap water. On my first visit to Bru's, Dwight's Special was like $15. It's as if I dreamt that. I realize that prices slowly increase over time and this is cumulative but it's just hard to recommend it at this point. It's not the staff; those people are wonderful. It's not the taste, because it's still delicious. But $30? There are lots of other chicken & waffles places around LA. Consider visiting some of them instead. read more
