    a plate of sushi rolls

Came here with my friends, since they had mentioned they had a 20% off new management promotion that lasts until 9/15. We each ordered some sushi and a bowl of our choice. I ordered 2 rolls of california rolls, 1 Green Dragon and the Miso ramen. It was all devoured. I got to try the salmon roll, and was surprised at the quality of the fish. It was better than what I had expected. We opted to sit outside since the weather was nice, and so did a lot of other people. When we got there, it was pretty empty but the seats filled up pretty fast. I would definitely come back again.

Ordered the pad Thai beef and the portion is a good size and definitely recommend! The staff were great and wasn't as busy for dinner.

Chirashi lunch. The color of the fish is off-putting.

Ordered take out for lunch. DO NOT go here unless you're desperate for low rate sushi. The quality of their fish is questionable and even as far as fish goes it smells rancid. The color of the tuna AND salmon are terrible. Pale tuna = old. And the orange color in the salmon is so obviously fake that it's just sad. (Yes, certain places will add dye to your fish to seem fresh). There are plenty of other sushi places around. Drive to Bayside or Douglaston for better quality sushi at the same prices. TL;DR: Don't bother with this place; low rate quality. The sashimi looks so questionable that it's not worth the low price they offer.

Lunch Maki Combo (they have a good selection, but my kids only love Salmon and Tuna rolls)

The place is consistent high quality with a great selection. One of the best sushi places in the area hands down. They have a good bar if your planning happy hour and the ambiance is not stuffy and modern. They have a good heating system for the winter days, summer time they open up the windows so it's more of an open outside bar. Will keep coming back so long as the food quality remains high...

I ordered delivery from here a couple of times and was happy with the meal that I had, I decided to actually go to the Restaurant and was very excited with my decision. When you walk in, a nice bar is situated at the front with seats and bar stools. The tables were clean , and food came out fast. The meals were delicious. I should've ordered from the sushi bar as well. I'm very excited to come back and hopefully I'll have more pictures to share in the near future. Municipal parking Lot down the street, near the train station. Ideal place for date night, or meeting up with friends. Check the pictures below.

Special night for two with the lob lob and circle of life roll. Good enough for three.

This place always make us feel like home. This use to be Era, an all you can eat. It is now al la cartel but pretty good still. Adrian is a great manager and a staple in the great neck neighborhood. We came here with a group of 16 plus 3 kids on a Saturday night. He was able to accommodate us since we called ahead Thursday evening. The food was great! I shared the "special night for two" sushi and sashimi for 2 plus a poke bowl. The poke bowl with the yahao sauce is a must!!! The portion for the sushi and sashimi is incredible for $58. You get to choose the chef special roll. I would recommend the lob lob roll. Overall, I hope this stays around for a long time. Hope Adrian stays around since we will be back. He makes it great!

Had a big party tonight of 16 people and we wanted to try it all! We got a little bit of everything amongst the table which included several sushi dinner for two, where we got to pick the special roll. A table favorite was the Lob Lob roll for sure and the sashimi was fresh! The table also had their oysters, which I expected to be regular shucked oysters. Turns out that were lightly sauced which made me loveee them! To bad they ran out! My husband and I also ordered the ikamaru and lobster taco, which the "taco" was Tostitos scoops BUT I thoroughly enjoyed the combination! We also got the miso ramen with beef and our own poke bowl. We ordered so much that we decided to take the poke bowl home out of everything because it was so fresh! Looking forward to leftovers! On top of the great food, the manager Adrian was great! Taking care of our needs, giving suggestions, and overall making the atmosphere of the place super friendly. Definitely recommend checking the place out!

My go to sushi and ramen spot in Great Neck. Their service is amazing and the sushi is really fresh. I def recommend the yellowtail app! They have nice indoor decor with flowers but also super homey.

I tried the Spicy Roll Combo, it was just slightly above average. They didn't provide any chopsticks or napkins..

Two friends and I went to dinner at Suko Restaurant on Middle Neck Road. When we arrived, I asked if we could sit outside, and the owner had no problem with that. While we were enjoying our meal, one of my friends mentioned that the edamame needed a little more salt. Seeing the owner outside, I politely asked if we could have some salt. To my shock, he suddenly started yelling at me and told me that I was being rude. At first, I thought he was joking, so I responded, "Can you imagine how rude I am to my husband?" His response was completely inappropriate and offensive. He said that if he were my husband, he would slap me on my behind over and over again in a sensual manner and that I would enjoy every moment of it. My friends and I were absolutely stunned. When I asked him to stop and bring us the check, he then said that "you Jews always give me problems." A few minutes later, after I told the waitstaff that I intended to share my experience on GN Mommies, he came over with hot sake to apologize. He even offered to refund our meal, but I declined. I don't want anything from someone who makes hateful remarks about Jews. After living in Great Neck for 40 years, I have never experienced anything like this. As a Jewish resident, I was deeply offended by both the inappropriate sexual comments and the anti-Semitic remark. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Michael, and the entire Masaki team, for making our holiday celebration so special. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening!

I honestly wasn't expecting much but the service based solely for the Omakase blew me away. The Omakase bar was in the back of the restaurant hidden away. The space was very open and the ambience was chic. This is a great place for date night, mommy night out, or group hangouts as they have private rooms too. Every piece tasted very fresh and were quite unique. The steam silky egg appetizer with crabmeat and fish roe was simple yet delicious. One of the dishes was an uni toro roll that was placed on top of our hands and was sprayed with edible gold glitter on us. That was a surprise and it was cute. And that uni just melts in your mouth. We had this matcha pudding with I think had an Oreo sprinkle in it was fabulous. They also surprised us with an extra dessert cause it was all 3 of our birthdays. Very enjoyable experience. Our sushi chef was very accommodating and made our birthday dinner memorable. We originally started out with the summer special of $78pp for a 12 course meal and decided to upgrade to the 14 course meal for $98pp. There was an option for a 17 course meal for $138pp but we were very full towards the end. They also had this $30 lunch and $60 dinner 3 course meal set for restaurant week. My friend's mom wasn't a fan of raw stuff so she ordered the Chilean sea bass with risotto and she wasn't a huge fan of it. The fish was a tad overcooked and the overall presentation of the dish looked more of a Chinese fusion dish. The risotto had that cheesy flavor but the presentation with the Bok Choy and the risotto looked more like fried rice and was confusing. I would stick with the omakase, which this place is known for.

This feels more like a 4 1/2-star experience…read more We had a lovely dinner at Kissaki this evening. We started with an espresso martini, which was excellent--smooth, well-balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. My husband and I each took a few sips before I remembered to snap a photo--always a good sign. For appetizers, the wasabi rock shrimp and spicy tuna crispy rice were both standouts--fresh, flavorful, and nicely executed with great texture. We also ordered the 10 piece nigiri flight, which was consistently impressive. The fish tasted fresh across the board, with the uni being a highlight--rich, creamy, and exceptionally fresh. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious--crispy and well-balanced. The only dish that didn't quite land for us was the ebi hamachi futomaki. It wasn't bad, just not a favorite for my husband--I only remembered to take a photo when we were nearly finished. From the kitchen, we shared the black cod and sea bass--both outstanding. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked--definite highlights of the meal. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler, which was a great finish. Warm peaches with hints of bourbon and cinnamon, paired with Japanese vanilla ice cream--comforting and well-balanced. Service was warm throughout, and the quality of the food was evident in nearly every dish. While it leans toward the higher end in price, the overall experience fell just shy of a full five stars--but was nevertheless very enjoyable.
