1st time at this local chain. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were in line with other Indian restaurants (Spice Room, Serene) that I visit. The food portion size are just right. I only took the Naan home. I started off with classic mango lassi, a yogurt based drink($5). Very orange and creamy. Next, I got vegetable samosa's($6). Two pillows that were fully stuffed!! They provided 4 cups of condiments (mint, chutney, yogurt and a chili preparation) with a crispy cracker. My entree was the Shrimp Vindaloo($17 + $4 for shrimp). This dish originates in Goa, a small province on the southwest coast of India. It is typically very spicy. I asked for the highest amount of hot and was rewarded with a tongue tingling preparation. The shrimp was tender (no shell or tail) with potatoes, onion, tomatoes and bell peppers in the curry sauce. It was served with a bowl of saffron infused basmati rice with a cinnamon stick for additional flavor. The Naan was called Kabuli stuffed with sweet dates($5). Very good. I got 4 slabs, ate 2 and took 2 home. Dinner came to $42 + tax and tip. Very good value. read more

Saag paneer and paneer masala were amazing! We enjoyed it with perfectly cooked garlic naan. Very generous pour of lassi. Iced chai had a nice mellow sweetness with subtle spice. Enjoyed a beer flight. Unfortunately 3 of the four pours were served warmer than I prefer and I don't like my beer served ice cold. It was ironic that the darkest pour, a chai stout was served the coldest. Regardless we will be back for the food and very attentive service! read more

They doubled their buffet price and no longer have cheaper buffet during lunch on weekends. There is a very small selection of food items for $25 per person! The food was consistent and good, but it would have been cheaper if we had ordered from the menu, and it would have been fresher. They no longer being naan to the table, either. I paid almost double what I had expected to. Will not return. I went and calculated what we actually ate if we had ordered from the menu. Including all desert items, I would have saved $30. Doesn't seem like a simple matter of "rising costs." Your staff also ignored us the whole time, despite only three tables in the restaurant. Other locations are much better. read more

The lunch buffet on a sunday cost about $20 per person. It was so worth it. I had to get seconds of the Lamb Ragan Josh and the Alu Gobi. The chicken soup was amazing as well. When I went it wasn't very busy. Our server was very nice and I don't think my water was ever less than half full. The fruit tasted fresh and delicious. I would definitely come again. read more

We went for the first time last night. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The tandoori chicken was good, a little dry but we would order it again. The saag paneer was the best we've ever had. The naan was delicious as well as the "chip and dip" complimentary appetizer. The portions were plenty for the two of us to split and still have leftovers to take with us. I've been trying to get here for buffet lunch for a while and finally stopped in today feeling excited. The buffet offering, although it had a lot of items, did not offer anything but chicken and many were not appealing. Every single dish I tried was cold, including the fried samosas. Not sure if someone forgot to turn on the burners, but it was seriously disappointing. We did not even try desserts or anything on a second trip, so it was certainly not worth the $50 for two people for lunch. I'm a pretty experienced Indian diner and home cook, and this was really disappointing. The staff is friendly but I think they played the same song on loop the entire tine I was there. I'm taking it off my list because dining out is getting so expensive it really has to be worth the money. read more

Went during lunch but rather than doing there buffet we ordered off the menu. We got cheese and onion kulcha, garlic naan, butter chicken and chicken saag. I ordered spicy but it wasn't even hot at all...a little peculiar. In any case, their saag tastes good. Some other places around the way make it too salty, there's is pretty balanced. The service was a bit slow for lunch so I probably wouldn't go again on a work day but since it's so close to my house I have no qualms about going back. read more

This one has all the same offerings, however it seems dirty, their was a hair in the food, the rice was empty the entire time, there was also only yellow rice, the buffet was not well stocked, and the service was below par of the other locations. Won't be coming back to this location but I am not discounting the other just because this one falls well below. read more

I wanted to love our experience here. We are Colorado natives who moved away for three years and just recently moved back. We have missed Yak and Yeti and we're excited to return for a wonderful meal. Sadly this was not the case. The foods on the warm table were all cooler than blood temperature; cool carrot pudding, cool pakora, cool chicken. The cool saag was so buttery, which some may like, but for me it was too rich and overpowering. The cool samosas were not as seasoned and flavorful as we remembered. Worth mentioning is the line of four restaurant sentry standing in a line with their arms crossed watching folks eat. I will keep my eye on the reviews to see if things improve. We have fond memories of the Yak & Yeti Brewpub in Olde Town Arvada so thought we'd give this newer location a try. Boy were we disappointed. We started with the Tandoori Chicken wings, our favorite. The flavor was off and the wings were not particularly crispy. In fact, they were oily with a somewhat rubbery texture. The kids and I all ordered chicken curry. I've eaten curry all over the world and it is always more gravy than soup. Not here. It was quite watery and not very flavorful. Also, I ordered an iced chai tea. It was more like chocolate milk and was not very cold as it had no ice. After tip the bill was $100. I came home and literally had to throw up my food. Even after we explained that we had already called, they would not seat us or allow us to order from the buffet. We WERE regular customers here and came very often. Soooo excited that this new location has opened in Wheat Ridge - very close to us over in the Knolls. Went to try this new place in my neighborhood based on feedback on Nextdoor, and sadly was so disappointed. I ordered take out. Everything tasted the same, no differentiation on the dishes. I threw out most of the food I ordered (such a waste), it was that bad. The rice had an odd smell to it too. This place does not allow special ordering for allergies or special dietary needs (such as vegan). I would not suggest this place due to the bad experience I had. read more

We had really been looking forward to trying Y&Y. We love chicken tikka masala and have had it in several cities and restaurants. We were shocked at how flavorless it was here. The butter chicken had even less. The heat was there, but no complex flavors. Service was polite and the restaurant was beautiful. We were just quite disappointed. We just had dinner there. Ordered 4 entrees, naan, beer, and mango lassi. Food wasn't as good as other locations. Every dish was loaded with red color. Even the mango lassi was loaded with orange color. Why???? Taste was mediocre for all 4 entrees. Naan was burnt and tasteless. Rice, a quintessential Indian food was mushy and crushed. Not the type of basmati I am used to in other Indian restaurant. I think in years past I perhaps ate at a yak and Yeti in Denver but a different location. This was my first time at the Kipling street location, and unfortunately, probably the last. I should add to this review that I have lived in Nepal and India for a number of years, and speak Nepali, which I did with the very young waitresses, who were nice and helpful--as much as they could be. The three of us ordered onion pakora or bhaji, vegetable korma and bangan bharta ( grilled eggplant in a sauce). The onion bhaji turned out to be a basket of onion rings like you would get at Mcdonalds, only with a spicier batter--not onion bhaji that I know. This was a first indication that things might be amiss. the two vegetable dishes came with a nearly identical sauce--the eggplant dish was actually swimming mostly with frozen peas-I guess the eggplant was cooked into a sauce--the taste was peas. The korma had a nearly identical sauce with a few chunks of zucchini and some crunchy strip of something, that might have been strips of undercooked cabbage. I would have to rate the three dishes as the worst INdian/Nepali food I've had in Denver. We questioned the waitress about a dish of peas in an eggplant dish, and she said that is the way they made it now--the same for the onion rings. Sensing out displeasure, she brought us a dish of three gulab jamon on the house--she tried. but nothing could make up for the inferior dishes. I would suggest that the manager order the same dishes, without the cook knowing who ordered it, and try it himself to see what he thinks. I would be surprised if he thought they were good enough to serve. I think most people come here for the buffet-which I can't speak to, but that is my take on what we had--a most disappointing birthday meal. The chicken steamed momo we ordered for takeout had raw dough and raw chicken inside. The butter naan we ordered was burnt black. Our evening here started off well enough - the place was busy, but we were quickly and graciously led to a table. Our order was taken, and we received appetizers and drinks in a reasonable amount of time (though the samosas were cold on the inside). It took longer for the Naan to arrive, and then 45 minutes passed by before we received any attention from the waitstaff again. After seeing two other parties come in after us, be served and leave, we finally flagged down a staff member to see where our order was. The lady went to check with the waiter who had taken our order, who then looked at us, rolled his eyes, and checked the computer. In a moment the lady came back to us with someone from the kitchen, who said something to the effect of our food had been finished for a while, but they'd "lost the ticket" so it had just been sitting in the kitchen. No one had thought to ask around, our waiter didn't check with us once for at long as we had been sitting there, and no one even apologized for the inconvenience or offered to make amends for the rudeness. We left cash on the table for the drinks and appetizers and left. This is twice as disappointing for us, as we are big fans of Yak & Yeti, we watched this one moving in for quite a while and were very much looking forward to our first dinner there. Making it a usual spot for us and all, you know. I doubt we'll be going back now. read more
