We ordered two large bowls of pho, and both were delicious and very substantial. The portions were generous we both ended up taking leftovers home, which is always a plus. It had layers of flavor in the broth and fresh ingredients that really hit the spot. We also shared a papaya salad and the cool and crispy crunch was delightful on a hot summer day. This was an impulse stop after visiting the Atlanta ballet. It was a colder day so pho seemed appropriate for the day. The space is pretty unassuming but the service is fantastic. Our server was very patient with our ordering and actually made some changes to our dishes to accommodate a dietary needs. The Vietnamese iced coffee is definitely one of the best in the city. The weekend for with tofu is very well balanced and the portions are pretty generous. I did not personally like the green tea but that's just not my palate. I had a taste for a Pho or Vietnamese vermicelli bowl and this spot seemed to have the best option close by. I called ahead. My food was ready for pick up when I arrived. I got the grilled chicken bowl and keep in mind you have to ask for cucumbers which comes standard at some other spots. They also charge a 0.75 cent takeout fee which I believe is not cool. They don't tell you that. The food was good but my chicken was very dry-almost impossible to chew. I like the pork egg rolls. The Thai Milk Tea is good but quite sweet. Some milk teas are not as sweet. The experience overall was decent and I implore them not to charge people just to get food to go and to cook juicier chicken. read more

Pho on a rainy day is always a good idea! Met up with family who lives in the area, as we are driving home. The restaurant can pack a good number of customers in what you'd think was a small space. We got in just before the rush, and as we were getting ready to pay and leave, every table was full. There's plenty of options for everyone on the menu. This place has beef broth, chicken broth, and veggie broth pho!! You can modify your spring rolls (they're not pre-made). Ordering happened pretty quickly, and food came out in a timely manner. The service was good, and always is since I've been here a couple of times. I'm always served quickly and seated immediately. The Pho is always amazing. Great temperature, great portion size, great flavor. They have all the extra ingredients to add; hoisin, cilantro, jalapeños, Sriracha, lime, bean sprouts, you know, the works! I've ordered from Pho Dakao almost every week. The food is usually great--until this week, when the pho tasted like someone dumped a container of salt into the broth. It was completely inedible. I called to report it, and the employee casually said, "That happens sometimes," with no apology. I stopped by the restaurant to speak with the owner, but the same person--who identified as the host--said the owner wasn't there and their name was "private." No manager was on duty either. When I pointed out that the owner's name is public record, I was met with silence. Still no apology. Just indifference. Message to the owner: Your food has kept me coming back, but your customer service is driving customers away. If you care about your business, you need to address the dismissive attitude of your staff. One bad meal is forgivable. A lack of accountability is not. read more

My husband and I came across Pho Dakao when we grew tired of heading all the way out to Buford Highway every time the craving for pho emerged. For hot, rich bowls of hearty broth with noodles, this place hits the spot. Any pho bowl can be ordered in three different sizes - medium, large, or x-large (with incremental price increases with each), and the broth of my usual tofu pho has always been remarkably deep and tasty, especially with the add-in herbs and sprouts that come with each order of pho. Recently, I caught sight of the other side of their menu, where they feature a vegan pho (the extra-large is only $14, which is a steal considering how large the bowl is!). My husband bounces around the menu every time he comes, and there were a few misses, such as the odd grisly piece of meat. He's also come to find that the pho far outshines the vermicelli bowls on the menu. Even still, there's nothing that's been so sub-par that we wouldn't come back for another meal. Not all restaurants are a Cheesecake Factory, which means that establishments should not be putting things on the menu things they simply can't prepare. Sadly, Pho Dakao was one of those examples. Let's start with its star dishes, which are the Steak Pho and the Combination Pho. Combination pho was frankly excellent. Delicate, juicy and flavorful pieces of meat. A light broth that has a mild and subtle flavor. Complimented with some bean sprouts that were of second grade quality, many starting to rot. Basil was also a bit beat up from handling. But, the star dish was quite good. Yet, here is where the Cheesecake Factory element comes in. The Chicken Pho, which is fairly not their speciality, was served with chicken so tough, it was inedible. Chewy and over cooked, impossible to eat. While the rest of the chicken pho and the broth were pleasant, it was a bit disappointing as a meal to cook a protein like that. People working here are very kind and due to that, I simply cannot give it a lower rating. After forgetting about bahn mi that was ordered, they brought a sweet tea to go to say sorry. Very attentive and fast as well. Another important element, the design is very tasteful and incomparable to most hole in the wall Pho establishments in the city, while keeping the prices very reasonable. Yet, I would recommend Yelpers to also consider the consistently low health scores over last four years, which is quite an alarming indicator of what happens in the back. read more
