    Nigiri
    Yumi H.

Just go. Service was fast, clean establishment. And the best thing there? The Nigiri! Ugh! I love them so much.

Fresh fish, diverse menu, and a really nice ambience made for a great dinner overall. Service was a bit mediocre and slow at times, but the food definitely delivered. Parking was easy too, which is always a plus. Would come back for the sushi. Reservations recommended during busier months, especially with happy hour times!

Great nigiri! Favorites of the night included the hotate, wagyu, and salmon belly. Tried the hand rolls (didn't get a picture), but they weren't my favorite. Tuna had become slightly dry/tough, but the panko shrimp was yummy. Sat at the nigiri bar and the chefs were super kind!

Such an amazing experience here! From the bubbly and friendly servers and kitchen staff to the incredibly fresh fish!!! Everything was perfect. I wanted triple of every piece on the menu (dressed nigiri and hand roll sushi). For the ambiance, we sat at the bar area watching the action of the chefs. It was truly amazing seeing the magic behind the scenes! Can't wait to come back.

I was introduced to Yakuza House last year by Yelp and Im so grateful for the introduction. Everything here is FRESH and delicious! I started with the salmon and tuna crispy rice which is YUM. Also quite filling so be mindful when dining alone like I was. I got the starving temaki handrolll set which was plenty and comes with soup and salad. Definitely couldn't finish my food but I left so satisfied! I would like to return for the omakase experience!

    The Hangry Handroll Set

Our first time at yakuza house did not disappoint! We ordered the hangry roll set, the sake toro belly, the mushroom udon and the unagi. The mushroom udon is a must with the combination of king and shiitake mushrooms. Such flavorful combinations! The unagi was also a great with the fresh eel. The crispy rice was also a great starter. The hangry and the sake toro were okay. The flavors didn't feel as impactful as they should have been. The ube cheesecake was nice and light. Overall, it's a great place if you like hand rolls, but the nigiri did not live up to the hype.

Omakase experience was amazing. I've done Omakase at different restaurants before and this was 2nd to none. I worried it wasn't going to be enough food because we're big eaters, but I was stuffed. The service was perfect and the ambiance was beautiful. The experience took a little over 2 hours and my rump was a little sore sitting in the hard booth seat. I think we'll sit at a table that has padded seating if we do the Omakase again.

    Clear soup and salad

Yakuza House is a fairly priced restaurant that offers great quality items. The new location off of Severn is modern and spacious. You can see how clean the workspace is if you sit at the bar. It's also cool to sit there and watch the skills of the chefs working too. This time, I tried their: *Takoyaki ($7 for 4 pieces) - Freshly fried and delicious, crispy on the outside with a piping hot soft center. The topping off with a little drizzle of ponzu is new for me, and it goes well! *Salmon teriyaki hot plate entree ($18) - Fantastic, can't go wrong with soup, salad, teriyaki salmon, grilled veggies and white rice! I love both the clear soup (fish-stock base) and the miso soup that they have for options. No skimping on the miso here, it's perfect. I also love both the ginger-carrot dressing and the sesame dressing for the salads. *Unagi donburi ($19) - Veggies and broiled eel topped on white rice. Another classic that can't go wrong. It's amazing. I wish there was a little more eel on top of the rice portion-wise, but overall not a real complaint since we know eel is pricy. This one also comes with soup and salad! *Crispy rice appetizer ($15) - I didn't love this one. it's basically 4 pieces of nigiri sushi topped with tuna and salmon, but the rice is made into the little nigiri shape and then fried. I thought frying the rice would be a creative delicious twist, but I found that it made it feel more dense, which took away from the favor of the tuna/salmon. Presentation was top-notch though as with all of their other menu items! *Shisojito cocktail (not sure the price) - This tasted like a lemon sour cocktail. It was really good! I wish it had shiso (a fragrant herb/leaf in the mint family) mixed into the actual drink and not just used as a topping because I LOVE shiso. It would have gone well with the drink itself! Their portions aren't large or anything, but they're fair and you won't go home hungry. The quality of the items here are high, the flavors outstanding, and the restaurant is a local favorite for a reason!

Really really wonderful service. Our waitress was super upbeat and excited to hear how our food was. I loved that you check off your menu choices with a pencil so it's easier to keep track of your options. The real standouts to me were the aji and hotate nigiris. The aji was a rec from the waitress and was very fresh, light and buttery. The sear on the hotate and shiso butter were an addictive combo - I had to order another. Overall I would say if you are a sushi lover for the flavor combinations, this is your place. If you're a sushi purist, i can't say it is the best fish I have ever had in the New Orleans area, but it was very good!

Great place for sashimi and hand rolls. Tried the crispy rice app which was pretty good, personally prefer a lower rice: fish ratio. Hand rolls always a hit. Wish they expanded their menu to include sushi. Limited seating so reservations recommended. Quality fish, good service, & entrees come out pretty quick.

Yakuza House has quickly become one of my fave local places to eat out for sushi in Metairie. The handrolls are amazing, the scallop hand roll is my personal favorite. Everything is so fresh. We also loveee the crispy rice appetizer! We tried the tako-yaki appetizer this time which was good as well. The restaurants itself is cute, and there's a sushi bar in the middle where the rolls are all made fresh in front of you if you prefer that style of seating. Our service was attentive but not at all rushed, and the food came out in a timely manner. They have seasonal cocktails (which we didn't try this time, but looked good), and they have creole creamery ice cream for dessert which is an extra bonus since that's one of my fave ice cream shops! We also tried the ube fluffy cheesecake for dessert which was honestly amazing. Can't wait to return!

Yakuza House is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in the city, so I've been here a few times and I love it. Their menu is vast and everything is delicious. A few of my favorite menu items are the salmon ikura donburi. So tasty! I also really enjoyed the mando sando, the crispy rice and yaki soba, along with all of the sushi and sashimi! I can't wait to visit again. The service is amazing and super friendly.

    Wagyu Nigiri
    Adele C.

I visited Yakuza House for lunch. The vibe is kind of trendy and upscale. My host was on an expense account which was great since it's a pricey place, so we ordered too much and it was all very good. The wagyu and caviar nigiri was a standout along with the other nigiri. Our server was patient and took time to answer our questions about the menu.

I ordered from the "all you can eat" portion of the menu (which is a pretty large variety to choose from, and is not limited to just sushi). You pay one price for an adult ($33.99 on a Sunday), and can order as many items and servings as you'd like, from the aforementioned menu. In my opinion, this was a great deal, especially for the quality and quickness of the food! Because of the above, I was able to try 5 different types of sushi rolls (you can choose either 4 pieces, or 8 pieces), and I'd recommend 4 pieces so you could try just about any/everything. There are also photos on the menu to help you decide, if you're a visual person. Here's what I had: Edamame (the Cajun + garlic seasoned version, which was $1 more) - it was properly seasoned and super good! The gyozo/dumplings were good too; I'd recommend ordering a side of teriyaki sauce, as it only comes with a peanut-type sauce. The shrimp fried rice was also pretty good, and comes in a smaller portion. As for the sushi rolls, they were all delicious, but I'll rank them in order of my favorite (all of them were speciality rolls) #1 Kiss Me roll - it was so good (the best sushi roll out of all 5 I tried) that I forgot to take a photo! This one comes in pieces of 5, and the pieces are even thicker/bigger than the other rolls. #2 Fleur-di-lis sushi roll - loved the shredded crab meat that was layered across the top. #3 Godzilla sushi roll - loved the shrimp tempura within, and the sauce that was drizzled on top. #4 Lion King sushi roll - this was pretty good as well, and had the perfect amount of sauce layered across the top. #5 Spider sushi roll - another good one, and the avocado definitely stood out the most (if you're a big fan of it).

I'm happy they had sashimi options because their nigiri is pretty heavy on the rice, but the salmon cheese was by far our favorite. My favorite sashimi was yellow tail. The scallop was interesting looking but still tasted like scallop. I really liked the fried calamari too. Too bad it was no meat Friday because I wanted to try the karaage. I wouldn't get the salmon skin again, maybe if it were crispier. Fried rice has a little sweetness overall good and standard for fried rice Stir fry udon was pretty typical tasting as well Soft drinks included in AYCE. Pretty decent price for AYCE. Would want to come back for a lunch AYCE: Forgot to try the ice cream!
