    Shawarma Loaded Fries $12.00 (11/12/21). @YallaTruck #LosAngeles #MediterraneanFood #Shawarma #FoodPorn
    Jeff B.

(Dined 11/11/21 TH @ 6:00pm): Holla for the Yalla! A good friend and I caught up with each other at Frogtown Brewery, a brewery she'd never been to and pre-COVID for me. The closest brewery to my Silver Lake hipster 'hood, I was surprised I didn't visit them more often. Also, I rarely saw their beers distributed at bars, restaurants, liquor stores, or grocers (why not!?), so I wasn't really familiar with their offers. Would we be hopping for more after this visit!? QUICK BIO "Yalla is Arabic for "let's go" or "come on" and is one of the most commonly used words in the Middle East. Yalla Truck is one of Los Angeles' first Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-style food trucks. Despite Los Angeles being one of the biggest melting pots in the world, one of the hardest things to find locally has always been good falafel. So in 2010, we launched as a falafel truck bringing traditional Palestinian-style falafel with ingredients and flavors that make it such a sought after street food throughout the Middle East. Since then we have expanded our menu offering our take on other popular Middle Eastern street food. Our ingredients are always fresh and locally sourced when possible." PURCHASE Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($12.00): Wrapped within a warm large tortilla was a ton of tasty chicken shawarma, diced tomato, pickle, cabbage, and a drizzling of tzatziki that was easy to manage and not as messy as I expected https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Zy-fbg81Q_dKPQ30Hp_JMw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Unfortunately, there was nothing special about this although it did satisfy my hunger and helped with the beers I was drinking. Maybe it reminded me too much of a burrito which I loved but was then faced with the reality that it was Mediterranean & Middle Eastern rather than Mexican flavors https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tKsgcpzSWXvUs6phbQIakg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Chicken Shawarma Loaded Fries ($12.00): Seasoned fries topped with your choice of protein (chicken shawarma in this case), pickled turnips, onions, feta cheese, hot sauce, and garlic sauce (also available tahini and tzatziki), this was one messy pile of goodness with all sorts of flavors that hit you at once! I loved the nearly full coverage of feta cheese, the garlic sauce could've been more potent, and there was a decent amount of chicken shawarma. Definitely a meal on its own that left me scooping up remaining garlic sauce with a fork https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=K-ZfnlyAGfpweVNDnoez2w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE I dealt with a friendly young gentleman who quickly took my order, and about ten minutes later my name was called out over a microphone through a speaker that alerted me that my order was ready for pick up - easy-peasy! PARKING (FREE) Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever they were serving food. I drove myself since I was specifically in the area to meet a friend for drinks. Otherwise, the venue was at Frogtown Brewery who had no parking lot but plenty of free parking on the main drag of Gilroy St. and all surrounding side streets (please read all posted street signs). Another option was to hire a driving service like a taxi, Lyft, or Uber. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with an exterior menu, order and pick up windows, but currently there were no areas for condiments, napkins, utensils, or seating due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic (they included these items inside your order bag). Natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while electric street lights glowed at night. There were no TVs nor background music https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=f2A6uZsAGKArMMg3CKCTNQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Yalla Truck was fine but probably wouldn't seek them out in a crowded food truck scene. When I first saw the truck I instantly thought of the Yalla Mediterranean restaurant which I'd enjoyed, but sadly this wasn't the case. The prices were comparable within the food truck industry, the menu pretty limited (shocked there was no lamb as a protein option) https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=VyS43h0I0dT_EySnYnj88w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, and the service was straightforward as they did their job. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $26.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Tasty food truck with a variety of options between pita sandwiches and rice bowls and salad. Food is very fresh and cooked to order. Several options and customizations available, you can do half chicken shawarma and half falafel in your sandwich for example. The falafel and hummus were both very good. Fries were battered and cooked to order. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Overall I would recommend!

Falafel Wrap w/Fries Yalla Style (red cabbage salad, tomato+cucumber salad, onion salad, lettuce, pickled turnips)

[Review #307] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (75/100) On a weekly basis, there's a food truck schedule for the businesses located at The Reserve. Yalla Truck, serves Mediterranean style food in a fast-casual method similar to Chipotle, is my 1st food truck experience. I kept it simple & ordered a wrap with Falafel (spicy vegetarian mixture of ground chickpeas with herbs & spices) in Classic Yalla (tomatoes & cucumbers mix, cabbage & onion salad, pickled turnips, tahini sauce) with added French Fries. My order was taken efficiently & processed quickly, about 2-mins. At almost $10, I was skeptical about the "burrito" satisfying my hunger since it was about almost half the size (about 6" in length) of a Chipotle burrito, though Chipotle's burrito are typically ginormous in portion, pending on how you customize it. Maybe their bowl will be a bit more filling? The Classic Yalla wrap has pretty good flavors, but the pickled veggie overwhelmed most of the other ingredients. The falafel, while tasty, isn't really "spicy." It wasn't until I was nearly finished that I noticed the extra fries that was to be added in the wrap was missing. =( l However, there was a Square survey after payment so I was able to make a comment about the missing ingredient. Yalla Truck at least made an effort to correct their mistake by refunding the payment for extra fries, though their comment was off putting. They "clarified" that the $1 fries were supposed to be in the wrap & sides of fries are $3. Yes, that is understood because I ordered $1 fries to be in the burrito & they weren't... clarification was unnecessary. :-| Yalla Truck offers decent food with almost filling portions at high price points that's typical for food trucks, but they offer a convenience to the businesses at The Reserve.

Long wait and when I said something (after patient and leaving a tip), the guy was rude: "You see how many people are in front of you." Wow, won't be coming here again after I get my food... yes, I'm still waiting and it has been over 15 minutes. I'm okay with waiting, but at least tell me it's going to be over 20 minutes to get my falafel. Very surprising and disappointing. They should know that many people have meetings to attend and therefore can't wait in line forever. UPDATE: the owner took time to message with me and earned my business back. I went to the truck recently and had a great experience. Good food, good service, and good owner. I'm updating my review and hope to keep having a positive experience!

A rainy Monday in Hollywood, and I am craving a Food Truck to add to my list. I've spent a lot of time eating in buildings the last couple of weeks, and between the rain, the holidays and the hiatuses at the studios, I was actually Jonesing for some street food. But there was the Yalla Truck on Sunset, not the Yatta (my truck @27) but Yalla with L's in the middle. I decided to stop although to be honest, i didn't even know which cuisine(s) I would be having today. Turns out they are a pure vegetarian Mediterranean truck specializing in falafel. And maybe I shouldn't admit it, that had there been other truck options, especially with dead animal parts on the menu, I probably would have passed on Yalla. I decided to go with the Gregora which, like all of their sandwiches begins with falafel (deep fried chick pea balls) in a pita with various veggies. Mine was filled with a mish-mosh of tomato-cucumber salad, onion salad, green cabbage salad, olives, and pepperoncini. I added Feta cheese at no extra charge. It came to $4.50 including tax; or $5.50 with a Diet Coke If I ever had to spend a few hours on vegetarian island, I would take a couple of these along. I didn't take an inventory or make any effort to discern the individual components, but they all seemed to be there, and the taste varied from one random but to the next. It was actually quite an enjoyable meal. And unless they add a bacon wrapped falafel to the menu, I would probably order it again "Gourmet Food Truck #78 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in So Cal" .

I had the classic chicken bowl today. It was pretty decent, and a lot of food. I got it with a scoop of humus on top for a buck extra.

I sent them a video of how uncooked it was last year and she offered a refund which I never saw back in my bank. My absolute favorite is the Greek chicken salad--I can't even explain how good it is, it's just that delicious every single time.
