I waited about 20 minutes and saw 5 people order in front of me get their order. I got closer and ask the guy where is mine and he's like what are you talking about. I showed him my receipt and the guy dug through the receipts in the trash and he found mine and made my order. Never gave me an apology or an explanation, just slapped the food in the box and push it towards me. Whenever I see a long line outside of a food truck, I always wanna try it out and Yalla Truck in LA didn't disappoint. This local, family-run spot has been serving up Middle Eastern and Mediterranean favorites, with a mouth-watering menu that goes way beyond just the basics. I tried the Kafta wrap, which was packed with savory grilled kafta, fresh herbs, crunchy veggies, and a creamy sauce that tied it all together. I also had the falafel pita wrap, and honestly, Yalla's falafel is a game-changer, crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful inside, and loaded up with vibrant toppings in a warm pita. The Yalla Truck was a great choice at the Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills Holiday Lighting Celebration. I got a rice bowl with 50-50 falafel and chicken. I love the number of toppings they provide and that you have a choice of accompaniments and dressing. Including feta cheese for free is a plus in my book. I thought the falafel was excellent - had a great fry but was moist and not dried out. The bowl was a good size and very filling, and reasonably priced especially compared with some of the other food trucks on site. I'd happily dine with them again. read more

[Review #307] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (75/100) On a weekly basis, there's a food truck schedule for the businesses located at The Reserve. Yalla Truck, serves Mediterranean style food in a fast-casual method similar to Chipotle, is my 1st food truck experience. I kept it simple & ordered a wrap with Falafel (spicy vegetarian mixture of ground chickpeas with herbs & spices) in Classic Yalla (tomatoes & cucumbers mix, cabbage & onion salad, pickled turnips, tahini sauce) with added French Fries. My order was taken efficiently & processed quickly, about 2-mins. At almost $10, I was skeptical about the "burrito" satisfying my hunger since it was about almost half the size (about 6" in length) of a Chipotle burrito, though Chipotle's burrito are typically ginormous in portion, pending on how you customize it. Maybe their bowl will be a bit more filling? The Classic Yalla wrap has pretty good flavors, but the pickled veggie overwhelmed most of the other ingredients. The falafel, while tasty, isn't really "spicy." It wasn't until I was nearly finished that I noticed the extra fries that was to be added in the wrap was missing. =( l However, there was a Square survey after payment so I was able to make a comment about the missing ingredient. Yalla Truck at least made an effort to correct their mistake by refunding the payment for extra fries, though their comment was off putting. They "clarified" that the $1 fries were supposed to be in the wrap & sides of fries are $3. I had a meal with the Yalla Truck today and my only major disappointment is that I ate my pita sandwich too fast before I could take a picture of it. This place is jammin! I had a pita sandwich done in a southwestern style and chicken kabob for the protein. The pita was packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. First thing to Know is I am absolutely obsessed with Falafel. I am of Middle Eastern descent, and we take our Falafel seriously. I first had a Falafel Sandwich from the Yalla Truck at an event in Chinatown called Summer Nights. Awesome free event by the way. I have to admit it was AMAZING and sooo Good. They put this green sauce on it which has a strong Spicy Kick to it and OMG it was Freaking AMAZING !! We hired the Yalla Truck for a recent all-staff appreciation event and cannot say enough good things about them! Our headcount was a moving target until about 5 days before the event. Once we got the final total, they confirmed they could accommodate our numbers with ease. Alan, who I presume is the owner, was great to work with. He walked through what we wanted and helped us finalize a menu that ultimately pleased everyone. Our organization has a decent amount of vegan / vegetarians, so it was critical we hired a truck that could meet those dietary restrictions while still being delicious and popular with our omnivores. Yalla is this and more! Their staff was incredibly helpful and friendly - they went so far as to track me down at our event so they could deliver my food by hand. Wow, won't be coming here again after I get my food... yes, I'm still waiting and it has been over 15 minutes. I'm okay with waiting, but at least tell me it's going to be over 20 minutes to get my falafel. Very surprising and disappointing. I got the chicken and falafel in a thai style wrap here. It was a generous portion and I liked the thai mix ins. The falafel and chicken were a bit dry, and somehow the sauce was drenching the wrap made it difficult to eat. I asked for the special "chicken shwarma" in my half and half wrap, but the chicken I got looked like their marinated chicken pictures. Their fries are well seasoned and crispy. read more

A rainy Monday in Hollywood, and I am craving a Food Truck to add to my list. I've spent a lot of time eating in buildings the last couple of weeks, and between the rain, the holidays and the hiatuses at the studios, I was actually Jonesing for some street food. But there was the Yalla Truck on Sunset, not the Yatta (my truck @27) but Yalla with L's in the middle. I decided to stop although to be honest, i didn't even know which cuisine(s) I would be having today. Turns out they are a pure vegetarian Mediterranean truck specializing in falafel. And maybe I shouldn't admit it, that had there been other truck options, especially with dead animal parts on the menu, I probably would have passed on Yalla. I decided to go with the Gregora which, like all of their sandwiches begins with falafel (deep fried chick pea balls) in a pita with various veggies. Mine was filled with a mish-mosh of tomato-cucumber salad, onion salad, green cabbage salad, olives, and pepperoncini. I added Feta cheese at no extra charge. It came to $4.50 including tax; or $5.50 with a Diet Coke If I ever had to spend a few hours on vegetarian island, I would take a couple of these along. I didn't take an inventory or make any effort to discern the individual components, but they all seemed to be there, and the taste varied from one random but to the next. It was actually quite an enjoyable meal. Suzie Q's Fun Fact: "Yalla" is an Arabic (and later, Hebrew) colloquialism meaning "come on," "hurry up" or "let's go." The word originates from an abbreviation of classical (traditional) Arabic words "Ya Allah," literally meaning "Dear God." =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This was my first time eating at Yalla Truck. My office brings in 2 food trucks a month for a little lunchtime variety, and today, it was Yalla. At first glance, Yalla Truck doesn't seem quite as exciting or unique as some of its funkier, trendier brethren (like the Grilled Cheese Truck, or the fusion Kogi Truck, or Coolhaus if you're craving dessert). Yalla's menu is straightforward: Pick your format (bowl, wrap or sandwich); Pick your protein (falafel, chicken, or both); and pick your salad ("Yalla" with shredded cabbage, pickled turnip, onion, and tahini sauce; "Greek" with essentially the same veg, plus pepperoncinis, olives, etc.; and "Chipotle" or something, with southwest flavors and sauce). I ordered a Yalla bowl with 1/2 chicken, 1/2 falafel for $7.50. They asked if I wanted feta cheese with that. Smelling a rat, I said "does it come with my bowl, or is it extra?" and he responded, "well, it's .50 extra, but it's worth it!" I declined. I saw the patron after me in line fall for the feta cheese option without even asking if it cost extra. I'll bet that's how Yalla makes most of its money. Meanwhile, the food: they do give you a sizeable portion... but my bowl was comprised mostly of cabbage and onion, with not all that much protein. It was also incredibly salty (was it the pickled turnip? It was hard to tell). And the presentation was awful, with the salad mounded on top of all the protein; you have to dig deep to even find the chicken and falafel. Plus, the bowl is so narrow and deep that half of its contents fell out onto the table as I prospected for protein. Why not a wider, shallower bowl, Yalla Truck? Ever think of that? I have a feeling that a wrap version of this meal would have been less salty and more satisfying, only because the bread would have absorbed some of the salt. But those, like me, who are trying to cut down on carbs shouldn't be penalized; not if a bowl is a standard menu option. Next time, I think I'll stick to the Century City mall food court's Massis Kabob, which offers a much more robust menu with fresher flavors, a larger serving of protein, more types of veggies, and a much less jumbled presentation. For the same price or in some cases, even lower. But if I'm in too big a hurry to leave my office complex, I suppose Yalla Truck - when it happens to be here - is a fine alternative. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. (Personally, I think food truck grub can be overpriced and pretty darn overrated, but you can't fault the option for convenience). read more

I was walking down Food Truck Ave. in Santa Monica for my lunch break and the Yalla Truck caught my eye right away. The line was short but the wait . . . not so much. You would think, hey its pretty much a salad . . . how hard is it to toss? I wasted a good chunk of my lunch break waiting. The staff working was a-okk but, definitely not my friendliest encounter. I ordered a Grigora (Greek) Chicken Sandwich, which came with tomato-cucumber salad, onion salad, green cabbage salad, pepperoncini, black olives, and a tzatiki sauce. I also opted for feta cheese because they give you that option when ordering and my total came out to $7. I also ordered that fries which was another $3. So for a whopping $10 I was hoping for something a little worthy, worthy it was not! The sandwich was pretty big, the chicken was somewhat tender, the ingredients seemed fresh but the tzatiki sauce had NO FLAVOR. The sauce is what is suppose to bring it all together and it just failed miserably. I've had my fair share of tzatiki sauces and that one was definitely at the bare bottom. The fries on the other hand had amazing flavor. They seasoned them perfectly and were nice and crispy. However, I only had a few of them because they weren't settling well with my stomach. Overall I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. For what I was paying the food was just not worth it. read more

I have held off with this review for so long now that Yalla has several storefronts all over LA and the valley for us to enjoy their delicious food. We lived the wraps at their truck, I had the falafel and along with their fresh veggies and refreshing sauces it was a perfectly light meal full of flavor. Prices are a bit high, but they usually are at food trucks. The quality is great, the ingredients fresh and locally sourced when possible. If there's one thing that I could possibly complain about the Yalla truck about... Well, let's make a joke about it. What does the Yalla Truck and a Jr. High Schooler have in common? They don't know when to stop stuffing their cups. Okay, terrible joke but the point is still there. This is really a cheap eat. At about twice the price of a fusion truck taco you get an overflowing pita with all the flavors going at full blast. I think that's the perfect diet/low calorie food truck option as it does do the job of filling your hunger as well as being really cheap. The worst part is i received 3 small falafel and about 3 pieces of chopped chicken in a mound of cabbage - literally must have been 90% cabbage. I let the helpful truck guy know in advance that I'm a bit of a hummus snob and not to be offended if I don't like it. He assured me that he wasn't worried, because I would love it. I had the Falafel with the Chipoltle option (Andale) on a pita. Wow! it was super good and only $6. The service was excellent. They are really friendly and on top of things. I skipped the pickled carrots, only because I don't like pickled things. Being vegetarian it is not always easy to eat at the trucks, but they not only have vegetarian they have vegan options too. You can have your food in a wrap (pita or tortilla), a bowl or a sandwich. They also have fries and hummus. I'll definitely try the sides when I come next time. read more

PASS. Took a long wait for this really sad looking bowl of felafel and overcooked chicken. It was a mess of toppings and didn't seem fresh at ALL. Sorry to be harsh, but for $7 I expect a bit more then a handful (and a half) of mediocre food. Lower your prices maybe? Or at least step it up a bit. I believe in you. read more

I would have never guessed that my favorite food truck would serve falafel, but this isn't like any falafel I have ever had. Get one with the red cabbage salad (The Yalla) and one with the green cabbage salad (The Greek is my favorite) to try the difference. Great spot for vegetarians and vegans. Great prices too. read more
