So the food is good. It's a hole in the mall in a random plaza so they don't get as much business because of their location. The waitress is a sweet young lady who remembers our order each time. I have been trying to find a good ramen spot since I moved back to Florida. I got spoiled in Japan. This spot was so close to the house and I had my first visit after living here for almost two years. The decor is very reminiscent of a Japanese local shop. Great hibachi, mediocre ramen. Staff was pretty friendly, but it can get quite busy during lunch time. The lunch steak hibachi was excellent! The steak was cooked perfectly, and the fried rice was on point. I also thoroughly enjoyed their clear soup and ginger salad. The portion was also reasonable compared to the price. On the other hand, the tonkotsu ramen was a bit of a disappointment. The noodles themselves were average, and likely purchased from suppliers rather than made in-house. The broth was lacking in the umami flavor that real ramen broths should have. It tastes like something made from prepackaged powder rather than broth cooked with pork bones for hours. The meat was very dry and was probably refrigerated for several days. They only gave me half of an egg, and was mediocre. Overall, you can get a similar quality tonkotsu cup instant ramen from an Asian grocery store than what you get here. I still haven't tried their sushi yet. Hopefully, it will tastes more like their hibachi and less like the ramen. read more

I have to agree with the previous Yelper that this place is a hidden Gem! Hubby has frequent here quite a bit without me so we had our date night here. I was nervous at first as the photos from other yelpers show so much sushi, ramen, etc...... Service was wonderful!!! In regards to the Ramen, I had too much of in the military however Hubby just LOVES all types and still wants me to try as if it's our first time enjoying this entree. So why not, I love being adventurous! Very happy that I was!!!!!! They have an abundance of drinks to choose from. I had sweet tea and it was delicious. I chose to indulge in the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box of which the chicken was sooooooooo tender full of flavor. The fried rice was delicious too. Prior to the main course I was served soup of which was Clear Soup, mmmmmmmm. Hubby indulged in Tonkotsu of which I loved presentation. We also had the Alaska Roll from the Sushi Bar. Very tasty! My son and I went there around 6 :00 about dinner time after his piano lesson. We were planning eating and going to ice skating lesson on Emerson. We waited 40 minutes and I was getting upset because they let us wait and busy letting them out to go boxes. There was only us and by the time I wanted to get out the there the food came out so I had to change to to go order cus I didn't want to be late on skating lesson. Meanwhile other couples showed up their food came out less then 5 mins. Living in Fleming Island is a bit of a torture when it comes to choices of places to eat. This little spot is a gem. Sushi is on par maybe a bit better than most. It's the only Japanese restaurant in the area that serves Ramen. The edamame with tataki seasoning is out of this world. They are slightly grilled with the seasoning covering them and they are mouth watering. They cook the best gyoza like it's supposed to be cooked. NOT DEEP FRIED!!! They are steamed then grilled on the bottom so they have a light crisp but still soft and chewy. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Friday night should be the freshest fish you have- was he offloading old fish?? Will never give this place another chance. We just paid $100 for potential food poisoning. Okay, calling all Sushi lovers this is a great Sushi joint. I have has sushi all over the U.S. and this place ranks with some of my best experiences. Have I had better, I have to be honest and say yes I have. However, for the price and artistic flair this is a great choice. Had the squid salad which was excellent. We then ordered 3 Rolls and one salmon roe. All were very fresh tasting and presentation was outstanding. Service was very good. Easy to drive by this place but worth the search. I would drive an hour to eat here. Admittedly this was our first visit but will absolutely be returning. May try some of the other spots in the area to compare but Yama has set the bar. read more

We went here for the first time today. Delicious crab Rangoon, light, hot, full of cream cheese and crab. We also had fried gator with their sauce. Yummy. The rolls we had were the Hot Roll, Oki Roll (my favorite), Swamp Roll (gator tail), Tuna King (very good), and a specialty roll they made at our request. Delicious everything. She said "no". ok no prob, wasn't a big deal I was just wondering so I could look outside. But apparently it was a big deal to her bc she had the bright idea to complain and talk about me to the kitchen staff not knowing I COULD HEAR EVERYTHING SHE SAID and that my boyfriend heard it all too. We were the only ones in there and there's a curtain separating the kitchen from the dining area...of course I heard you. I won't be back. In a time like this, pick and choose what's really worth talking about to your staff especially if it's about your only patrons. read more

Small Japanese restaurant, nicely decorated inside and the look reminded me of the traditional restaurants I'd eat at while living in Japan. Restaurant is clean and the server was friendly, although a little inexperienced and was not overly familiar with the extensive Japanese food menu. Limited authentic Japanese drink menu. Dinner was some of the best food I've had all week (always is. We know what good sushi and service is unlike some of the Karens here) and service was great but what completely ruined my experience was the obnoxious Karen sitting in the back. I kid u not this lady had ZERO consideration for the other people. For starters she asked for more tea like every two seconds. This is rude af at ANY restaurant but especially this one. For those of you who aren't regulars, there's usually only one person running the show. Not multiple. One. So bugging the waitress every two seconds for stupid s*it means all of us have to wait because your dumba*s wants to chug their drinks like divorcée chugging shots during Happy Hour. She even INTERRUPTED the waitress who was trying to get other people who didn't have any drinks to ask her for more tea and some other drink too. Like lady did it ever occur to u that other people needed stuff too? I was thirsty too you know. And that the waitress had other tables to take care of? She doesn't just exist to serve ur selfish needy self get a damn husband or something. AND THEN she's like "make sure to hold the tea at the bottom blah blah blah." Um.. are u dumb lady? You're telling the waitress to risk burning herself. U kept drinking like ten cups of the tea. I've had the tea and it's hot AF when it comes out. She knows how to serve tea thx unlike you she knows what it's like to work in the industry and doesn't need you to tell her how to do her job. Oh and get this, they have to answer the phone too right? Because people like to order take out ya know normal stuff? Well waitress was trying to answer the phone right? But nooooo.. Karen just HAD to know what brand of soy sauce they had! She made the waitress have to make the person on the phone wait so she can find out about the type of SOY SAUCE? Lady. Get a life. Then there was other dumb stuff like she didn't wanna mark the sushi sheet (they give you a pen and paper do it urself instead of screeching "you don't take our ORDERERERE!!" For the whole damn restaurant to hear) Like damn I wanted to take a tv remote and point it at her while pushing the volume button. God lady if you're reading this please never leave your house. What a great find! This restaurant is located in a small strip mall. If it was not for the signs on the side of the road, no one would know that this restaurant is here. It is a hidden gem in the Middleburg/Orange Park/Fleming Island area on CR220. The bento boxes are large and very filling. A must try is the tuna meat balls in Bento. Very delicious and savory. The meatballs are a specialty of the owner of the restaurant and it is a family recipe. You would never know that it is a combination of tuna and beef meatballs. It is so good!! The egg roll and fried rice are okay. A little dry for my personal liking. The sushi variety has some of the typical pieces that you would normally fine at other restaurants. However, there are some true tasty ones that are their specialties of the house. Our favorite was probably the gator roll as a specialty roll. The Louisiana roll has crawfish and a spicy sauce. We enjoyed it so much, we had to go back a second day to get some more. If you are looking for a tasty treat in Clay County, you should try this place. The staff is cordial and attentive. Excellent sushi, on par with the best places I've been to! The restaurant is owned and operated by a young couple transplanted from California and their commitment to an excellent dining experience was evident the moment we sat down at our table--from the decoration choices to even the decision to use hand-crafted containers for the soy sauce at the tables. I was a bit unsure if I should try this place because no one had posted a menu picture and they didn't have prices on their website. It's also in a not so busy little complex. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the chill atmosphere, attentive wait staff, and adorable decor. The food was great, waitresses were nice, bathrooms were clean, and the ambiance was casual.
