    Pork Katsu Curry

This business has been here for over 10 years and this is our first time and definitely not the last. Came here on a Friday for dinner. Place is quite small but we were greeted and seated right away. Ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll for appetizer and it came out fresh! However, it does not come with the pickled ginger and wasabi and I had to ask for our server for them. She came back with only the ginger, oh well, we still enjoyed it. My husband got the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice and it taste like an authentic Japanese curry! Very flavorful! I opted for the Chicken Hibachi which comes with vegetables but I substituted the fried rice for noodles. I combined the veggies to the noodles and it was perfect! The chicken was tender and tasty! While devouring our dinner, I noticed more customers are coming in. I'm not surprised they are still doing well and have been in the business for so long, they served delicious meals!

One of my favorite places to go get sushi or hibachi, the food is always perfect. The service is always amazing and fast. They have a sushi bar and booths, which are comfy. They take extra pride in their presentation of their food and make sure you have a great experience. Always feel very well taken care of by the staff.

I quite enjoyed this meal !!! We came here on a whim after seeing a post about Jacksonville's Japanese curry scene and it's one of the places we haven't tried. It was a big plate but kinda expensive. Favorite thing we enjoyed was the sashimi. YUMMMMYYY!!! Not many places offer yellow tail belly and salmon belly! Sooooooo amazing i'm on cloud 9. Big pieces ! We were offered a complimentary kani croquet so good ! i would order that ! The curry comes with clear soup. One of the best clear soups ever. Full of flavor ! Not watery! We would probably order another one instead of sharing lol. Everyone was super nice and polite here which really does make the food taste so much better always. It's a cute little place ! We will come back for another meal for sure! More sashimi please !

Was first in the door. Waitress was friendly. Seated me and I said I was waiting on 1. I knew what we wanted after a couple minutes so caught her eye and she came over. Ordered fried gyoza, chicken Karagaa, hurricane roll and jalepeno roll (deep fried). First I loved all the various condiments on the table! The gyoza was very good. But then... no sauce on the chicken karagaa which itself was dry and tasteless; sushi seemed fresh and as ordered but just unremarkable. The wasabi was very tame - I like mine to burn my nose which didn't come close even when I ate a bit by itself. Marking it off my list. Been there done that. I really want some great chicken karagaa!!!!

Ol' reliable - fast service. Great food. Huge selection of options. Casual and always a good experience! With my shellfish allergy I'm usually pretty limited with sushi restaurants but Oishii never lets me down! My rolls were delicious and I'll always come back. Cheers!

The BEST Sushi in Jacksonville!! Service is amazing, she always so kind and treating every guest like family, with fast service. They are always giving free apps and deserts. The atmosphere is so relaxing with instrumental music playing in the background. The food is absolutely incredible - we always get the clear soup, salad, Summer Roll, Naruto Roll, and the Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll. The quality is so fresh. We drive 30 minutes out of the way just to come to this specific one. Can't wait to come back!!

The soup was very enjoyable. Delicious!

Tammy and I went together here after having our manicures and pedicures. The Waitress did not communicate well at all. They put my sushi on Tammy's plate. Really? I asked if I could have another plate for my sushi. The clear soup was some of the best I've ever had. The hot Sake was good and hot. The atmosphere was good as well. I would return, but I would make it very clear that I want my sushi on a separate plate. I would come back.

Best sushi spot in jax. Service is great and the food is always 10/10. I've been eating here 2-4x a month for over a year and can say I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Oishi menu. Specialty rolls are creative and skillfully executed. Sashimi is always fresh and delicious. Oishi is THE best.

Oi-shii* , this place hits the spot. Today was a day made for ramen with a side of sushi. The servers were sweet and friendly. The restaurant was small and cozy. I'm a visual girl and at times, I eat with my eyes! The menu did not just have pictures for highlighted items , but had pictures for every single food item! Trust me when I say, that the food is just as good as it looks.

I've been here several times ever since the last review completed in 2015. So now, it's time for an update in 2020. As usual, great place to get really good sushi, ramen and japanese curry. I've always been impressed with the staff of this establishment. Their presentation is always great and their fish always tasted fresh and clean. Came here with a girlfriend that I havent seen for almost a year. This is our go-to spot everytime we meet up because we both like this establishment. The decor and ambience is always great and the staff is attentive and friendly as always. As a starter, we chose Takoyaki and for our entree was the Sushi for two (2). Takoyaki - definitely a good starter if you like seafood condensed into a ball with some good sweet sauce and fish flakes. Sushi for Two - you get 10 pieces of sushi (nigiri - fish on top of rice), 24 pcs sashimi (raw fish by itself), 1 regular roll (your choice), 1 chef special roll (your choice), 2 soups and 2 salads. As a regular roll, we choose the Rock N Roll and as for the chef special, the Golden Dragon Roll. The Rock N Roll consisted of shrimp tempura, cream cheese, crabmeat, avocado and tobiko (the orange fish roe). The Golden Dragon Roll consisted of eel, avocado topped with spicy crab (shredded), tobiko, crunch and special sauce. Both absolutely tasteful! Everything was delicious and fresh. My absolute favorite had always been the sashimi and nigiri as I always liked the taste of fresh raw fish. We both are never disappointed and the staff also treated us with two fried oreos as dessert (by that time, we both were already full). Overall and as usual, definitely would be a great place to eat authentic sushi, ramen and japanese curry. We will continue to visit this establishment in the future.

A Delicious Experience at Modu Ramen!…read more We recently had the pleasure of dining at Modu Ramen on Baymeadows Road, and what a wonderful experience from beginning to end! One of the highlights of our visit was getting to meet Chef Kim, who came out personally to speak with us and walk us through the menu. He took the time to explain the different dishes, flavors, and ingredients, which made the experience feel so much more personal. You can truly feel the passion he has for what he creates. ‍ And a big shoutout to Christian, who took such great care of us throughout our meal. The service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. It made us feel right at home. We started with the Vegetable Gyoza and Corn Croquettes -- both were delicious and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For ramen, we had several different bowls so we could experience a little bit of everything: Beef Bulgogi Ramen -- tender beef bulgogi with chicken broth, a soft egg, Naruto, and bok choy. One thing I really appreciated is that if you don't eat pork, you can substitute the broth, making it easier to find something that works for your preferences. Curry Tonkotsu Ramen -- rich, flavorful curry broth with chicken, mushrooms, and corn. So comforting and packed with flavor! Vegetable Curry Ramen -- a delicious option for veggie lovers, with that wonderful curry flavor and plenty of satisfying ingredients. Of course, we couldn't stop at the food! Mango Sake -- fruity, refreshing, and such a fun pairing with the meal. Butterscotch Latte -- sweet, creamy, and absolutely delicious. A perfect little treat alongside dinner. And then came dessert... and this was definitely something special! Mango Bingsu -- light, refreshing, and full of mango flavor. Tiramisu Bingsu -- such a fun twist on traditional tiramisu! Creamy, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal. What I loved most about Modu Ramen was that it wasn't just about having a good bowl of ramen. It was the whole experience -- the welcoming atmosphere, Chef Kim taking the time to personally explain the menu, Christian's wonderful service, and all the different flavors coming together to make the meal memorable. If you're looking for a place to enjoy comforting ramen, creative dishes, and genuinely warm hospitality, Modu Ramen is definitely worth adding to your Jacksonville dining list! Modu Ramen - One of the Best Ramen Experiences in Jacksonville!…read more What an incredible meal at Modu Ramen on Baymeadows! This was easily one of the best ramen experiences I've had in Jacksonville. The flavors were so authentic that with every bite, I felt like my taste buds were taking a trip back to Japan. I loved that the ramen is customizable. You can choose vegetable, chicken, or pork broth, adjust the spice level, and select from different curry and spice options. This makes it easy to create a bowl exactly the way you like it. We tried the Vegetable Gyoza, Corn Croquettes, Beef Bulgogi Ramen with chicken broth, soft egg, naruto and bok choy, Curry Tonkotsu with chicken, mushrooms and corn, and Vegetable Curry Ramen. Every dish was flavorful, and the portions were generous and hearty. The Beef Bulgogi Ramen was a standout for me, with an amazing combination of Japanese and Korean flavors. The curry ramen had a wonderful depth and authentic spice. The broths are incredibly rich and flavorful, and you can substitute the broth if you don't eat pork. I've had similar styles of ramen in Japan, and Modu Ramen really brought back those flavors. The spice, depth of flavor and overall authenticity were outstanding. My taste buds were honestly in food-flavor nirvana! And I have to mention the Mango Sake--my favorite drink of the evening! We also enjoyed the Butterscotch Latte. For dessert, we finished with Mango Bingsu and Tiramisu Bingsu, both delicious and a refreshing way to end such a flavorful meal. Chef Kim was amazing and personally came out to talk with us about the menu and the dishes. You can tell he takes great pride in what he creates. Christian provided excellent service--friendly, attentive and quick. Modu Ramen isn't just another ramen restaurant. The combination of authentic flavors, customizable bowls, generous portions and Korean-Japanese influences makes this place special. If you're looking for some of the best ramen and authentic Japanese flavors in Jacksonville, Modu Ramen should definitely be on your list.

He mentioned wait times for tables, so I chose a Tuesday evening to try to avoid the crowds and it worked as I was immediately sat upon arriving. There are QR Menus on the table and my server directed me to view there. I spotted the Tokyo and was intrigued by the Ajitama Brûlée (signature torched seasoned soft boiled egg). What I Ordered: - Tokyo: For $16.95, I thought this was reasonably priced and excited to try as reading reviews raved about the umami flavor of their ramen. Without exaggeration, this was a life-changing ramen. The best ramen that I've had in my life!! The torched egg was genius and added a beautiful texture to the rich, and flavorful broth. The fried chicken thigh was a delicious protein and cooked so well. Honestly, every ingredient was crafted well and combined to make such a beautiful bowl. - Lychee Martini: What better way to toast to life, then with a martini! The popping bubbles were not my thing, but the flavor of the martini was delicious. I can see why many suggest trying it. I initially wanted to try the soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), but the waitress convinced me not to as "they take too long" to prepare. Instead I went with the pork fried dumplings and the Taiwanrse sausage. The dumplings were very average: not bad flavor but they had a flavor and were uniform in a way that suggested they came right out of a bag from the freezer. There are much better and fresher dumplings to be had in Jacksonville. The sausage, however, was quite good. It was taught, porky, and had notes of five spice & maybe cinnamon. It further reinforced my view that meat always tastes best when served on a stick! It helped bring in the final score two three stars, making up for poor service and mediocre dumplings.
