My guest wasn't interested in sushi tonight. Each hibachi meal is served with a clear broth soup and a side salad with orange ginger sauce. Rice and mixed vegetables are served with the combination meal The rice was different this visit, there were no bean sprouts and no peas, there was broccoli, so I guess it was a mixture of vegetables . 3.5 As a whole, this is one of the better sushi restaurants in the area. It's always fun here and the employees are nice and do a good job with their tables. Sometimes they put fresh flowers out on the table and sometimes they are dead. Lol. If they aren't fresh don't leave them out. It makes people grossed out at the beginning of their meal. The drinks..... they are not good. I'm sorry to say because I generally try to be very fair and kind to every business but they are awful. We stick with the sake because of that reason. They do a nice hibachi. The hibachi chef is generally fun. The food is good but they do use way too much sauce. I believe if they used less sauce and just let the ingredients shine that it would taste just as good if not better. As for their sushi, their fish is always fresh. I have never had something that taste old from here so that is a plus because a lot of the sushi restaurants around here don't put out fresh quality. They do a good job of managing to-go orders and package everything nicely and as ordered. We did order chicken teriyaki last night which was good however there was only like two pieces of broccoli mixed in with a ton of onions. Typically people that are ordering chicken teriyaki are ordering it because it's healthy so some extra vegetables would be nice. Overall, we come here when we are in a bind because there's not many restaurants in the area and it's pretty decent. I do think if they fixed some of these issues it would really improve the restaurant as a whole. read more

I had ordered take out from there and got home and went to open up my food and the rolls I ordered were all supposed to be cooked rolls and I can clearly see that one was not and I am pregnant so obviously I can't eat raw sushi, so I gave them a call for a refund and they tried to just give me a new roll to pick up or get delivered but all I wanted was a refund for the one roll in particular that's all I was asking and they refused to give me it. They were not willing to help me with the refund and simply said they could not help me. read more

Update: This has become our regular place. It's amazing to find a place that does Japanese, Chinese, and Thai cuisines well! Everything we've tried tasted clean and full of cravable flavors! We recently tried the shrimp pad thai and hooked on it. The chewy noodles with the mildly sweet sauce with a tiny kick and the perfectly cooked shrimps make us keep going back for more. read more

Food was 100% as we love coming here! came here w family in which we decided to tip a generous amount. our server approached us in hopes for an additional tip in which we felt that was truly wrong. we tipped how we decided to based off our experience and service met (17% pretty valid) having the waiter approach us to initiate more tipping as it was below average seemed really unprofessional. I've worked in the restaurant industry so i understand but approaching someone to complain about their tipping as it didn't reach 20% is ridiculous. Takeout for a birthday party. Very nice, fresh and tasty sushi. I wish they had labeled as we could not tell which sushi was which in our order. Noodles were good, especially the Udon w chicken. Pad Thai with chicken okay but not strong enough flavors. The beef and broccoli was exceptional, not overcooked, beef not tough. Welp. I drove 15 minutes to check this place out due to the reviews. Walked in --it smells musty. Not terrible, just musty. The waitress is very nice and helpful. I ordered udon noodles with chicken and veggies. It comes with a side salad. The salad is the size of my palm. Like, the palm of my hand. Guys, really? It might be okay in a lunch box type dish, but it's in a tiny bowl. Just funny. The salad came less than fresh, but they were happy to make a new one. I'm not usually one to focus on the music in a restaurant, but picture this. The place is empty and the radio is blasting with a basketball game blaring on the TV. The sounds are crossing one another and it's an audio messtastophie (my word). The entrée was really salty. Just the kind of salty that you can eat, but feel bloated the rest of the day. Overall, it was okay. I wouldn't come back, but everyone was so nice, that I'm giving them three stars instead of two. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered from Yamafuji three times, all through Door Dash. First delivery took more than 3 hours, second delivery was on time and generally ok, and most recent delivery never came. I called the restaurant to complain about my most recent order and they referred me back to Door Dash. I've never had a bad Door Dash experience outside of this restaurant (I normally order out twice per week), so the issues are not on their end. Diners beware! You are better off buying grocery store sushi than rolling the dice on whether your order from Yamafuji will actually be delivered. read more

We've ordered takeout from yamafuji 3 times since quarantine began, and it's been yummy every time. We usually order gyoza and shumai for appetizers, which are both good. The steak and shrimp hibachi special is well seasoned and always makes for 2 dinners. The chirashi (sashimi on rice) is fresh and there's plenty of fish. I've tried a few of their rolls and they've all been yummy as well. The people running the take out are very sweet and you can tell their working their booties off. Don't forget to tip!! Got take out on Saturday night and it took a little longer than expected, but they were slammed. It was unreal. The food was all great tho. If you're in a rush, take into account that they seem understaffed and it may take quite a bit longer than you'd think. From what I saw of the dine-in reservation situation too (I was picking up at 6:30), make your plans to go earlier. I can't stress enough how busy it was, for both take-out orders and dine-in. But the food was really good and at a great price. We'll definitely be going back. We'll just plan around the rush. read more

Nice place.... a little dark for my taste.....like everything is dark brown and then they have these bright lights.... but that's just my opinion...I blew off a star because the ladies room Was a complete mess, dirty.... they did have plenty of hand soap and there were paper towels...which is important to me.... but , dam, clean that place! The food was the outstanding..... came sizzling hot and perfectly cooked. The service was nothing special, but perfectly adequate. We traveled a couple towns over to try Yamafuji because we are big sushi fans and it had solid reviews, but we ended up disappointed. We got several rolls including the Philadelphia roll, the eel avocado roll, the Yamafuji roll, the lovely roll, and the flower roll. None of them "wow'ed" us. They all sounded delicious on the menu, but we felt like the flavors just weren't there. Also some of the rolls weren't put together well as they were falling apart. We likely won't make the trip again for the average sushi. read more

Yamafuji is my favorite Sushi spot in this area! The 2014 Roll is out of this world and my personal favorite roll ever, although I don't think you can go wrong on their sushi menu! They also have excellent Rangoon with a mango dipping sauce (that I also like to dip my sushi into) & Edamame. I highly recommend ordering take-out straight from the restaurant itself rather than a second party delivery service (such as Grubhub). I've never had a delivery issue when ordering from Yamafuji itself. I have always been a happily returning customer (dine-in or take-out) and I will continue to be! :) read more

I'd give this place one star, but the manager was very apologetic and asked us to give them another chance. I honestly can't imagine going back. Probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. Still, the place was busy on a Tuesday night so maybe we just ordered the wrong items. I ordered the Crispy roasted duck, seasoned vegetable, asparagus with curry sauce with rice and a salad. The salad was my first clue that this was going to be a bad meal. Iceberg lettuce and hot house tomatoes with a mayo/ketchup dressing......ah, memories of the high school cafeteria. Where's the"Asian Fusion"? At the very least, try serving a salad of Napa Cabbage, maybe some snow peas, pickled daikon....you know....ASIAN! Nope. Not here. My wife ordered the steamed dumplings as an appetizer. They did not look fresh as all and tasted as if they may have been frozen. Her sushi rolls dinner with lobster was okay. So much for the good news. Then came the duck. It was hard to find at first, buried under a ladle of what was supposed to be "hot curry sauce" but seemed to be the same dressing I had on my salad with just a touch of hot sauce? Hard to say. Very little flavor and not spicy at all. Once discovered, the "crispy" duck looked more like day old roast beef, not crispy in the slightest...and cooked to the point where it had no flavor at all. The vegetables were indeed steamed, but there was the curious omission of any asparagus. After two bites, I knew this was a bad plate of food. It took a while but the server eventually walked by and said they would take that off my bill. Then the manager came by and asked if I wanted anything else as he did not want us to leave hungry. They offered us some tempura battered shrimp with the same mystery sauce as free meal in hopes that we would return. Frankly, I was not in the mood for another disappointment, and just asked for the check. When we got home and examined the check more closely, we saw that they did not take the duck off the bill but did take 30% off, which was about half price for the duck.....and probably covered the price of the shrimp. I ordered takeout 3 times from Yamafuji in Medway between mid-November and mid-December 2019. On all occasions our food was hot, flavorful, and a good value. I am a big fan of the crab rangoon and mango chicken, and especially the Thai basil chicken. Service has improved greatly since my first review in 2015, and the staff I interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. Ordered tonight. Red Curry Beef. Sounded yummy!! Hot and a bit spicy with deep fried potatoes, peppers and onions. Great! Ordered on line yet they gave no option for level of spice ok? I understand. Get it home.. ummm its beef yes, Curry I think, yet mild. But here is where the dish went sideways. No potatoes, not tragic, but then the tragedy began. Full of tofu???, zucchini??! Broccoli rabe??? Mushrooms??yuk!!!... but the tofu?? Filled the entree? Beef, hard to find. Please, please cook how you describe the dish as that is WHY I ordered it. Not the way you may find convenient, with vegetables you may have on hand, and many that folks are allergic too or dislike which would prevent them from ordering it in the first place. I love how spacious and fancy yamafuji feels when I walk in. I've been here 2-3 times, and the food is always solid. I especially love the chicken pad-thai, as they give you a lot of noodles and a good amount of peanut flavor. Make sure to squeeze the lime on top of the padthai to get that extra zesty flavor The hibachi and sushi are sub-par, however. In the photos are a beef negimaki which wasn't that good but something different. A seaweed salad and scorpian bowl (small) are also shown. I liked how they gave me a lot of seaweed salad. The scorpian bowl also got me pretty buzzed for a decent price. Service-wise, I felt like our server was a little aloof and never really bothered to come up to us unless I got her attention from afar, which was slightly annoying. read more

This is a delicious restaurant! I came here a few days ago and the food was so yummy! We ordered vegetable soba noodles (soba noodles are like thin lo mein) and 4 different types of sushi. We had California rolls (my favorite type of sushi), spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and eel with cucumber which were delicious and were made fresh. This is great because it has hibachi and a normal sit down restaurant that does take out too! All of the food was so good! The food was so yummy and I'm so excited to go back and maybe do the hibachi! This is a great restaurant that I will definitely coming back to and I definitely recommend. read more

Has taken a step back since last we were there, a few times-before COVID. Chicken Mango dish sause was great, but chicken had a very weird and chewy texture. Sushi was pretty good perhaps a step back from before. Salads were pretty good-not great. The vibe/hospitality was way worst. Neither waiter ,nor manager ,who saw us off, asked us how our food was. The waiter also took our order like we were in McDonalds-no input even when asked, very unenthusiastic in general. A bag of garbage was sitting in between the bathrooms waiting to be taken out. I know places are short handed these days but the 2 very young hostesses that greeted us looked not to busy to help out. They also looked under dressed (like about to go to an after-party any minute). The mens room was sort of disgusting (won't go into too much detail but there needs to be some better solution for non-flushing toilets than what I saw almost overflowing....along with garbage needing to be taken out and papers on floor). read more

Anyhow, reservation at 7, Got sat at 8 and food got cooked at 9. When the management decided they felt bad they offered a "free app". Should've been 30-40% off our bill. Bill came and we had to fight for the discount. Now there are a few Hibachi steak houses in the area and we're Medway residents so that should be unsettling as their own home town people are EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. I would recommend going elsewhere as YAMAFUGI is far more concerned about takeout. While we got there at 645 FOR OUR 7pm res. the not very nice host ignored us until 730. The ABSOLUTE WORST EVER experience at a any restaurant ever. If you're willing to deal with people who don't care I get it, as I said in the beginning the food is legit. However, it's not like they're the only one around or even remotely near the top. Choose different. read more
