Purchased a new 2024 Yamaha MT-09 motorcycle. No test drive was allowed by the dealership prior to purchase. Come to find out it had a blatant defect with a lack of power in 2nd gear. Yamaha would not stand behind their product or fix the problem. They washed their hands clean of it. Customer service was incompetent and gave me the run around. Furthermore, Yamaha knew of this issue for at least 3 years on earlier models, did not issue any recalls or fix the problem, and knowingly continued to sell defective motorcycles to consumers for 3 years. And will make sure to get the word out on how they treated Brennan Schofield on claiming Haiden Deegan's Factory Star Yamaha! Yamaha pressured a 17 year old kid not to claim the bike! Donnie Luce told him they would help him out with 2 motors and possibly ride a pro bike to rescind the claim! So , Brennan rescinded the claim because of all the pressure from the Canadian dealership, Donnie Luce and Matt Walker bullied this kid! Now, the Yamaha Canadian dealership has lied and taken Brennan's motorcycles and dropped his sponsorship! Yamaha will never help this kid, failed the amateur racing, failed the motorcycle industry! Vital MX has Bobby Reagan on tape saying that Haiden's bike did have some pro parts on it and he didn't want anyone to find out where Star was buying their engine parts from! We purchased a side by side, financed by Yamaha several months ago. We recently received a bill saying our payment was late! Not only are we not late, but a payment ahead! My husband went over the statements with Customer Service, and they still claim we owe! The payment that is ahead, was an extra payment! I had this same problem with another side by side I purchased from them 4 years ago! the payment is due on the 20th of the month, we pay it every month on or by the 10th! Customer service were extremely rude! Even after we asked for a Supervisor, there was no help or understanding. I have spent 60,000 dollars between the two side by sides and a Wave Runner that I have purchased from Yamaha. Not to mention the cost of stereos! Who do I speak with to sort this nightmare out? I have a 2014 FZS waverunner that has recently suffered a complete engine failure from a snapped timing chain. If you search the internet for Yamaha SVHO engine and timing chain failure you will see that this is a rampant problem. Probably more than 50% of these waverunners (2014 and 2015 fzs, fzr, fx svho, ect...) will have the engine go bad in the first 50 hours.....mine failed at 53. I have the extended warranty and when I contacted Yamaha in Cypress CA, they pretended not to know that this is a well documented and widely experienced issue for waverunner owners. When my engine failed, my wife and I were ejected from the ski at over 65mph. We were both injured. Yamaha should be issuing a recall on these defective machines, but I guess they are waiting for a class action lawsuit. So not only are they putting people in danger, they aren't even fixing these defective skiis without constantly badgering them to honor their warranty. In my case, since i was injured I wanted them to make things right by at least honoring their warranty and getting my ski back on the water before the entire riding season is over.....now after almost 4 months, I was recently told it might be months longer because Yamaha sent my dealer parts to rebuild the motor rather than a new motor. some of these parts require special tools to install, and guess what???? The tools are on backorder for months!! Next time Kawasaki for surre!!! read more

My son has a 2003 Yamaha YFZ R6, he had some trouble the other day, namely that he was going to school and the car in front of him cut him off to get into a parking spot. Being a newer rider he did a "panic stop" which ended up flipping the bike and throwing him over the front of the bike. He is ok, and the bike suffered only a small broken item which is the reason for this review. The part that broke is a filament elbow that connects the hose from the front brake reservoir to the master cylinder, I started by searching the internet with no luck, all of the diagrams that I found showed the part that I needed but there was no number, or part number, or price listed for this part and only this part, (all others were priced). I called several shops and was told that what I needed was the rebuild kit (about $200.00), I even called Yamaha and they told me the same thing only they were not as nice as the shops that I had called. The more I thought about this the madder I was getting,then I remembered that my older son has a Suzuki SV650S which has the same type of front brake set up so I looked up the schematics on that bike and,,,,,,,,,,,, there it was on the diagram, numbered with a part number and price ($10.98) I called my local Suzuki shop and they had one in stock so by the end of the day after getting off of work I had the new part installed and the Yamaha runs great and stops great again. I recently contacted Yamaha Motor Corporation because the 2017 Yamaha R6 I purchase was having a problem cold starting. It takes 3 plus tries holding the starter for 5 seconds each time and wait 10 seconds between each try before the brand new bike will start up. They had a scripted message for me saying that this was 'a feature' of the model I bought and that it was not a defect... Fuel injected vehicles should start up right away on the first try especially if they are brand new. Yamaha has decided to not stand behind their bikes and this is reflected in their extremely low resale values. NEVER buy a Yamaha. Update: I'm out THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS on replacement batteries and a trickle charger. The bike currently has under 500 miles, the batteries just can't withstand these abusively long start ups. read more

I bought a Yamaha SHO waverunner for $12,125 and it immediately started overheating. After 6 repair attempts and a year and a half, they finally found silicon blocking the cooling system. At several points, they attempted to blame the issue on me for "riding on top of the waves" haha. After one instance of being stuck in the middle of Lake Tahoe, Ty, the customer service rep, told me there was nothing wrong with my waverunner and they couln't do anything about it. After they figured out it was all their fault they, sent a letter of apology and extended my warranty 3 years. These people have cost me thousands of dollars and tons of time. Not to mention they put 80 hours on my waverunner trying to figure out the issue. read more

This may be a bit long as it is directed at yamahamotorusa. Called this morning with my suggestion of better communication between their office and dealers in regard to my yamaha 1000. I have been on a three month road trip using a stock 1000, had to have a clutch replaced and due to lack of education dealers did not know how to advice me on the recluse plate and how much it would change to my riding style. Thirty minutes on hold to get told its dealers responsibility to send their people to the classes offered, but not required. I also had to replace three tires as most side by sides come with stock 4 ply rear tires, of course the dealer in Arizona was more then happy to just keep replacing them, instead of advising me to change to desert 8 ply with the first blow out. All together their lack of customer service and product knowledge will end up costing me at least another 2000, if I'm lucky. Very unhappy yamaha customer. Quick addition, when talking to main head quarters (Raymond) was informed i needed a gear change to a recluse kit, talked with florence, or dealer who actually use the equipment was very helpful. Suggested both gear and recluse kit, but recluse kit is more important. Raymond told me by changing the gears i could use it similar to a automatic in rock climbing four wheeling, wrong that's the recluse kit. Guess he should attend some classes they offer but dealers are not required to attend. read more

I wish I could give a lower rating. Recently I ordered a gas tank for my 2008 Roadliner, 11/28/17. The tank cost $1210.00 plus tax, just to buy it. My local Yamaha shop ordered it and asked if I wanted new chrome braces that ran along the tank or did I want to use what I had. When I asked the price they were approximately $240.00 for each side, $480.00 plus tax for the pair so I declined and agreed to just use what I had. The tank finally showed up here in TN and I had to wait for some decent weather to ride an hour to them to have it installed. When the dealership removed the old tank they found that there was asbestos and sponge pieces needed and that the chrome pieces couldn't be removed and attached to the new tank. All in all a minimum of an additional $7-800.00. I said no way, put the old tank on. Now comes the type of company Yamaha is, they want a 15-20% restocking fee. A restocking fee because they don't have a "kit" of necessary parts to do a job, they would rather surprise you and then whack you with a restocking fee if you don't go for it! 20% of $1210.00 is $242.00 for not letting them bill me an additional $7-800.00!! Yamaha Corp will not allow us to speak with a manager as Raymond explained to me. A manager will look at the call and deem it relevant to speak with us or not! I explained to Raymond that rules are guidelines and not an edict fro God. That sometimes there are exceptions to any rule, he said not there! Can you imagine!! My Roadliner is for sale and I will never own a Yamaha product of any type in the future!! I strongly suggest thinking about this attitude of theirs before giving them penny of your hard earned money, knowing they will decide if you are worth talking to! read more

Just bought 2015 Yamaha FZS on 7/2/2016 by 9/5/2016 the timing chain snap at 29hrs and destroy the engine, it has been 6 weeks and Yamaha is bullshitting around been talking to Sidney and she don't worth a dam don't know where the parts are, these skis are a ticking time bomb and Yamaha is aware of the problem and will not recall them if anyone having the same problem with them this it falls under the same law as a car LEMON which in boat terms are called Magnuson Moss Warranty Act please read this hope this helps everyone that is having the same problem. This Legal Guide explains your warranty rights when you get a lemon boat and the manufacturer will not live up to their warranty. What can the Federal Lemon Law do for me if I have a Lemon Boat? Under the right circumstances, it can require the manufacturer of the boat to pay you damages or maybe even buy it back if your boat has a defect that substantially impairs the use or value or safety of the boat and it was not, or could not get, properly repaired in a timely manner. My bike went into a repair shop October 2014 and wasn't repaired until June 2015. This is because when the shop called Yamaha for help, Yamaha directed them to replace parts and do tests that ultimately did not fix the bike. After some time and effort, Yamaha tech support GAVE UP. In the end, parts were replaced until the bike worked, so basically its an entirely new bike on the inside. This created a large invoice. I blame wasted time, materials and labor on Yamaha's lack of knowledge of their own product and am appalled at the fact they would GIVE UP on helping to repair their own product. read more

I bought a 2007 yamaha road star ( new ) the only problem that I have had is that the steering head was never tightened properly when it was built. This was not noticed at first. Upon putting it on a lift to inspect it after 8000 miles, I noticed that the front end was loose.It was tightened at the shop but it now had a dimple in the bearing ring.This caused a hitch when riding slow in traffic. (dangerous) New bearings were needed, and yamaha wouldn't go good for them, even though the dealer said it was a factory problem. After talking with the dealer, he replaced the part, and only charged me for the labor. I'm still a fan of the Road Star 30,000 miles later read more

barry m. kennard 7031 ingleside drive port richey , florida 727-232-6093 bkennard@bellaouth.net i have owned a 2003 roadstar , purchased at a now defunct dealership [ ron turner ] in jacksonville florida . the dealership did a lot of upgrades before it was put on the sales floor and soon as i walked into the showroom , this bike had my attention -- bought it . . the bike has had problems over the years , carbs rebuilt two times, replaced plugs multibale times , returned to "dealerships" i can't count the times for carb adjustments. i have been in port richey for three years and the bike has been serviced by '' sky powersports '' and they have never disappointed me with there customer relations and top notch service but again the same problem followed me.this last time i had a problem i met with the owner and the service manager " jim" and they both assured me that they would get to the bottom of the problem and they did -- apparently ron turner made the upgrades " air filter " but never read the specs on these items and did not upgrade items such as the " jets" that they did not do and all these costly years. etc. i just want to say that" sky "went far and beyond what i would expect from a dealership . they found the problem , installed new jets but again the plugs were fouled and i had just replaced them less than a year ago. this dealership " sky powersports " in my opinon should recieve a reward for the best service and they listened to what i had to say. . thanks sky powersports , your my guys.. yamaha -- just so you know i am 74 years old and have been riding two wheels since i was 14years old . my 1st. ridev was a cushman scooter -- next cushman eagle [ two gears ] etc. etc. etc. all i ask that you have recieved this e-mail and again with all your dealerships don't forget to give these guys 20 attaboys barry kennard read more
