This was an enjoyable Teppanyaki style Japanese restaurant where the interactive chef cooked directly in front of us. It was very busy when we arrived for an early dinner & I highly recommend reservations as we did. Note, be on time to guarantee your reservation & everyone needs to be present to be seated. There is plenty of free parking. When we arrived we were seated immediately next to a window with a pretty water view. We watched boats & water skiers. Our meals were delicious & it was entertaining to watch our food being cooked. All table side dinners included Clear Soup, which was okay but somewhat bland, a Salad with a yummy homemade Ginger Dressing, a shrimp appetizer that tasted good but unfortunately some of the shrimp weren't clean, Fresh Veggies & Fried Rice, which were tasty & sherbet for dessert. My table side dinner entree was NY Strip & Shrimp for a reasonable price of $31.95. The steak was cooked & seasoned perfectly. Service from the Chef & Server was fine, tho not especially friendly. We felt a little rushed as well because to-go containers were brought out before we were done eating. This was a fun dinner & show experience.

We visited Yamato while in Myrtle Beach and had an overall okay experience. The restaurant is huge and clearly runs like a well-oiled machine -- service was fast, and they definitely have the system down to a science. That said, the ventilation wasn't the best, and with so many hibachi tables going at once, it got a bit smoky. Our chef felt rushed and didn't bring much showmanship to the table, which was a little disappointing since we had three kids with us. He only did the classic food toss about five times total, while we saw more interaction and flair happening at other tables nearby. Also, we've never had so much rice at a hibachi place -- it was seriously about a pound per person! The food itself was just okay; nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. It's a good option if you're looking for a fast hibachi meal in a lively setting, but we were hoping for a bit more entertainment and engagement for the kids. Never had the food cook so fast, ever.

Yamato has really good food with GREAT portion size!!! if you are a foodie and you LOVE to eat, you will love it here. The servers are friendly and the chefs are very kind and humorous. The food is really good tasting and you'll have plenty of it. It is very clean inside and decorated nicely on the inside and out.

This was an okay experience. The food and quick to seat was amazing, but I feel like the chefs line's while cooking were a bit cheesy and the diners were unimpressed. Me and my girlfriend got a drink each as well as the dinner. Our bill was about $140. Expect to pay quite a bit here and leave with takeout every time

Food is as expected with Japanese hibachi. The filet was cooked perfectly to order. The scallops were fresh and tender without being gritty. Service was excellent. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our drinks server was over within minutes for our drink and food orders. Because of the hibachi style eating the food was fresh from the cooktop so no issues there. Standard hibachi tricks/entertainment. Ambience is upscale casual. It's very dark with classic Japanese touches here and there. Great place for families to come. Prices were on par with other hibachi establishments. I would come here again!

    Nasty bug!!

    How's the parking?

It is at Broadway at the Beach which is a very popular location. Last two visits this year, parking was easy. Give yourself time, you can always go to stores while you wait.

Highlights were the honey chicken, coconut shrimp, butter shrimp, pork dumplings, bbq ribs, and believe it or not, the dessert! Really good ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and maybe cookies and cream), banana pudding, chocolate pudding, cookies, sweet bananas... yum! We were there around 2pm so no crab legs, but it was still an excellent value. I would recommend skipping the Mongolian-style grill. The sushi was decent but I wouldn't go to this buffet if that's your focus - there are maybe 8 kinds. I enjoyed the salmon wrapped crab roll though. Not a date place, but I think the word buffet pretty much sums that up. However, it was clean and comfortable.

To start, didn't acknowledge my presence for several minutes once I was at the counter. There was no one else in the building a woman taking orders and a man cooking. No personality whatsoever! If that was the only problem - I could live with that. It was 9 o'clock and they close at 10 so I understand BUT - THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING!!! I got the steak and chicken entree. Steak (dog?) was not edible full of grizzle and dry. Chicken (cat?) was also horrible - dry chewy. How hard is it to get the rice right? ABSOLUTELY GROSS! LOOK AT THE COLOR EVEN! Paid $17 and change left the change from a $20 as a tip for doing NOTHING! WORST $20 EVER SPENT ON FOOD!

As someone who has worked in this industry, I recognized just how chaotic it was for the staff. However, the service from start to finish was impeccable. And the food was absolutely delicious. All of these folks had several people to deal with from moment to moment, yet they treated each interaction at a very personal and attentive level. I would like to give particular emphasis on the two ladies at the front desk/hostess stand. I believe one of them was named London if I recall correctly. Absolutely amazing service from them. And the bartender, her name was Tina. She was by herself and getting absolutely slammed with orders from the restaurant and people waiting to be seated. And while we were there, there was also an upset customer she was trying to handle a dispute with, yet she handled that, and everyone else waiting in queue, with absolute professionalism and kindness. The server, and the hibachi chef, were also very good and warm and welcoming. Very impressed with how everybody handled such a chaotic night. We will be back. And hopefully London, and Tina, and everyone else will be working because we know we're in good hands there. Thank you all so much for a wonderful Christmas Eve meal. Highly recommend this place.

So I asked about ordering hibachi to go because it looks similar to what we have in California called Benihana. They said they cannot take orders over the phone we had to come in and order and wait. So I came in after looking at the webpage knowing exactly what I wanted to order for sushi because I can't order hibachi. I asked what the deal was with the hibachi and they said that they don't do hibachi to go; only on Sundays. I said OK so then if people come in they can have hibachi any day? She said no it's completely random when they get a hibachi chef in. I said so in other words people have to call and see if you even have a hibachi chef? She said yes it's very frustrating for everybody. I said that's very unprofessional and I don't know how a business can do that. I was brought over to where I order sushi and the menu is completely different than their webpage. I asked the guy about the rolls that I wanted to order and I pulled up the webpage showing him that the menu they have here is completely different than online and the prices are different. I told the guy he needs to tell the manager that they need to fix their webpage so that it's accurate with menu items and pricing. So they get an F for them not keeping everything updated, no online or phone orders and not even having a hibachi chef that's on staff every day it's just ridiculous. When I gave the guy money to pay for my stuff he's sitting there waiting there as if I'm gonna tip him. You don't need to tip on to go orders.... you're not providing me a service that deserves a tip, plus he kept my change anyways. When I got my rolls I took them to go. They were not made with the ingredients that they were supposed to be made with. One was extremely blah and flavorless. The other was just ok.

This is the finest I've ever had in the state of South Carolina! My cousin from Florida also loves to eat sushi. He said it was the best sushi he's ever had anywhere! We were in town one Saturday night in June for a concert and wanted to try the local sushi. I asked Reddit for some good options and Koi was the winner. The setting was dark and quiet, which we enjoyed. Our server was excellent and helped me get my sushi just the way I wanted it (minimal/light rice). It did not take long for our rolls to come. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was out-of-this-world. So fresh and delicious. I didn't even have to use wasabi, which I usually have to use to offset the fishiness of some rolls. I didn't have to use much soy sauce either. I ordered the Mount Fuji Roll, the Kung Fu Roll and a spicy tuna roll, while my cousin ordered a Geisha Roll and a spicy tuna. The food, the service and the ambiance all made for such a wonderful time, that I am torn between going back again or just remembering it for its perfection!
