I've only been here once with family while on vacation, so if I ever go back I may adjust the star rating, but based on my one experience it deserves all 5. The service is fast and friendly. The staff make sure you are comfortable, satisfied with your experience, and are very attentive. The waitstaff also help each other out with their tables, so anytime a glass was almost full or dirty dishes had piled up, whoever walked by would stop and offer assistance. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, moderately decorated so it's not over stimulating but not boring or drab either. We all tried a cocktail and each of us (4) tried a different one. The planters punch, Cosmo, Mai tai, and Pearl Harbor were all delicious and had quite the kick to them. A second one may have had me tipsy! The food was delicious. We all ordered a bunch of different plates and shared. We had fried rice, lo mein, hu nan chicken, general guao's chicken, sushi, maki rolls, coconut shrimp, beef teriyaki, crab rangoons, and everything was freshly made, flavorful, and prepared and brought out very quickly. We didn't have to wait for long when we asked for another plate or napkins. They also allow special orders, so my dad could leave off his broccoli from his chicken dish. I highly recommend this his place for Asian cuisine including sushi. There's a sushi bar you can sit at. If I'm in the area again I will definitely be back! read more

This business seemed a bit unstable at first with several name changes. I'm not sure if they were new owners or if they were just changing the name. The name Yang Ming seems to be sticking now and the food is good Chinese (American style) and sushi. Not overly fancy inside, but they have a full bar, a sushi bar and dine in seating. The food is great and the service is fair. I give it a thumbs up. read more

This place is a hidden gem. The food and drinks are fantastic and all at a reasonable price. The house mai tai is huge, and very inexpensive compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. The menu is pretty big and the staff is great - very attentive and friendly. I'd definitely recommend trying the sushi here. Amazing food across the menu, delicious drinks, beautiful presentation, fast and courteous service each time. This is easily my favorite restaurant, me and my boyfriend even went here for our anniversary. Some recommendations: I don't come without getting the Jungle Maki or the Yang Chow Fried Rice, these are my two favorites on the menu! The Curry Beef Crab Rangoons are delicious, and the Jamaican 10 Speed is great from the drink menu. Such a great blend of classic Chinese and Japanese cuisine while bringing in innovative tantalizing twists to some of their more unique dishes. Went here with a group of 6 people customer service was amazing very patient and informing we have ordered the Pupu platters from different places and they have been regular sizes so we got 3 pupu platters and it was SOOOO much food! I am a regular customer of Yang Ming's and I have never had a bad meal. Everything is fresh and well prepared... never greasy, always hot Their employees are attentive and super nice. One long time waiter in particular is our favorite.. he always makes sure everything is perfect and works his butt off. First time customer new to area and so happy I tried Yang Ming!! I think wonton in hot peanut sauce is my new favorite thing!! Amazing! Spicy green beans are fresh and so spicy good! House lo mein is loaded with veggies and so tasty! Great food - chinese, sushi and appetizers are all delicious. We get delivery from Yang Ming ALL the time, they probably think its all we eat. I eat an unnatural amount of Edamame. They are SUPER professional on the phone and are very attentive to your order, repeating back if they are unsure. They are polite and clear and always give you your order total, and then ask if you want to pay cash or credit. The food is always hot, service time accurately reflects their estimates, and the delivery drivers are always courteous and friendly. And the food reheats really well. read more

the bbq spareribs are just flavorless ham. the general tsaos is a syrup sweet thing. not one bit od spice in the hot mustard which btw is actually just yellow mustard so they have replaced the hot mustard with actual thick yellow mustard. and the duck sauce is apple sauce, no joke. just apple sauce. i always said bad chinese foid was even good. wrong. i have $45 worth of tasteless spice less flabby crap food. nope, never again. pathetic. read more

They swiped one credit card twice and then told me their credit card machine wasn't working, and didn't give me any receipt. They asked for another card, and charged it again, this time going through. I have a friend who insists New Year's Eve is the worst possible day to get Chinese food. I've never had a problem until this year. The food I purchased at YM was really truly sub par. I went in at 1:30pm to order my food - $35 worth of apps - I was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. Literally 5 minutes later they were handing me my order. The bag soon became saturated with grease, the food was barely warm. It was disgusting- a total waste of my hard earned money. Deliscous and fresh! I loved my Sashimi and my Fashion roll. I left satisfied and I felt that it was reasonable for what I purchased. Drinks were delicious, plenty of parking, and they do take out for large groups. A man was preordering for 60 people and the people were more than happy to accommodate. Very satisfied. Shocking and inexcusable attitude and customer service. Even with the few restaurants we have in Salem, I will NEVER order from Yang Ming again, after my experience last night. We rang up and placed our order as we usually do which included a shrimp chow mein. The lady who took our order clarified with us that it was chow mien we wanted WITH noodles and we confirmed. When we received our order, they had sent us shrimp chop suey instead. I have attached a picture of what they advertise on their website and what I should have received, what they delivered and told me was correct! You be the judge. I called to inform them and the lady who answered was distracted because they were "busy," then she proceeded to ask me if I can bring the dish back to the restaurant so they can check!!! We paid for delivery and then they want me to bring the dish to them??!! I refused and while I was speaking she hung up on me!! I called back and she said she will get the manager, they had an exchange in Chinese and then a man got on the phone and proceeded to tell me that what I had received IS shrimp chow mien and that is how they serve it. I said there are NO noodles and he said the chips they send with the Won ton soup are the "noodles" for the chow mien!! Unbelievable! I said it looks nothing like chow mein nor the photo they have on their website. He said that it was and that I don't know what I'm talking about and as I continued to insist that this was ridiculous, he HUNG UP ON ME!!! This review isn't about the one dish but more so the principle of the fact that I paid for something and didn't receive it and then had to deal with the horrible attitude, rudeness and downright shockingly horrific customer service of this establishment. For the sake of one dish, this restaurant risked losing a future consistent Salem, NH customer. Their loss. You can only operate like this for so long. I am simply disgusted! My boyfriend and I wanted to try here for dinner because he did a delivery there and spoke with the owner and she was very nice. Unfortunately their General Gau's chicken is the worst I've ever had. Small pieces of poor quality dark meat and the coating had no flavor. The service got slow near the end. We waited quite a while for our waiter to notice that we were finished eating. Finally a decent take away Chinese restaurant in the Salem/Windham NH area, when all other Chinese restaurants were junk. This one is still as expensive as the others, but much better. Two chicken dishes plus 2 egg rolls and two small rice cost $27. The rolls were simply excellent, not greasy, crisp, thin, with fresh filling. The sweet and sour sauce was abundant and good. The chicken was fresh. The quantities are very large, so each portion is good for two meals. Everything was still well warm when it got home, after at least half an hour. Parking is easy in downtown Salem. I did not give it five stars only because of the high price. What happened with the times of inexpensive Chinese food? Anyway, do not bother trying any of the other ones, this is the only one that sells edible food instead of the 'dog food' the other ones serve. read more
