I've been smoking meat close to 30 years. Started with turkeys and smoke all types of meat on all types of smokers. I heard Yankee bbq uses offset smokers. For me that's the best way to smoke food. Yankee bbq is the real deal. The meats I was impressed with were the brisket, turkey, pulled pork and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. The ribs although cooked well lacked in flavor. Maybe just the batch I got. I would have to try them again. The coleslaw also needs a little help. It was dry and peppery. Maybe some mayo or enough mayo to make it creamy. A little sprinkle of smoked paprika on top. The Mac and cheese and cheesy potatoes were good but tasted similar. You know it's great bbq when you don't touch the bbq sauces on the table. I had to try them. First I tried was their regular bbq sauce but there was way too much cumin seasoning in it making everything taste like tacos. The sweet bbq sauce is a mustard based sauce that screams Carolina than a sweet sauce. I would scrap those 2 sauces and start over. But I didn't need them and you shouldn't if the meat is good. Good bbq doesn't need sauce. I can't give an honest review of the beans because I forgot about them. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant. The meat shines as it should. This bbq restaurant crushes any bbq restaurant in western New York that I have tried. I would definitely go back. read more

This is saucy hands down the BEST bbq in Western NY. You pick the meats you want and pay for the weight, like a meat market. Which is cool! You get to eat as much or as little as you like and sample a little bit of everything. The meat is delicious. Smoked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. The house made bbq sauce was peppery, tangy, and sweet. The perfect addition to some ribs. The sides were just as good as the meats! We tried the beans and coleslaw. So good. We also shared a slice of the smoked cheesecake, which I know sounds suspicious. But was caramelized and smoky and something everyone should try. Amazing service. We went near closing and they were out of a few things. Which for bbq is normal. The gentleman asked us a few questions and gave us some other options. Which I appreciated. We went for the per pound option and had what I call a protein sampler. Smoked Turkey, pulled pork, 2 cuts of brisket, corned beef and pastrami. And now as I write this review I'm feeling the meat sweats ;) The favs were the corned beef, pastrami, and oddly for us the Turkey. If you are curious about sauce, good bbq shouldn't need it, this didn't. But if you are really nosy. It's vinegar based, not thick. Still nice flavor with a nice amount of kick. The beef brisket was pretty good. Not at all a fan of the jalapeño sausage. They were out of chicken - which my friend wanted to order. Also, we don't eat pork, which made this experience very difficult. Therefore, we couldn't order the baked beans or the potatoes - because they contained pork. We did order the smoked mac and cheese - which we found to be disgusting! It was like eating lard. All paste, no flavor. I can't comment on stuff I couldn't order. They supposedly have BBQ beef ribs on special, but with no sides for us to order, we probably won't be back. The guy behind the counter was nice, but touched all the meat with the same gloves. Mixing pork with everything. The female in the back was not nice. The place itself was a hole in the wall, with uneven floors. I can't see this place staying in business. Point brisket (gave us choice flat or point, super fatty and flavorful), texas link (great heat/flavor, juicy), turkey (super moist and yummy), ribs (cooked very well, nice sweetness on the rub), pulled pork (good smoked meat), beef rib (huge bark/smoke ring, perfect cook). My friend and I went on Sunday afternoon. I wanted to try a bit of everything I got the Special Beef Rib one was 1 1/3 lb. Two pork ribs, a Texas Twinkie!! And a large cheesy potato Oh and the Big Red You Must have that!! The loganberry sauce is delish! My friend had the same but a 1/2 lb piece of brisket instead of beef rib. And she also got Mac and cheese instead of potato's. As you can tell all the meat is sold by the lb. They cut it up and weight it right as you order. All very fresh turn around fast. I have a sensitive constitution, all good, I highly recommend!! Don't miss it.. Texas Twinkie was the best, stuffed jalapeño with cream cheese and pulled pork wrapped in bacon drizzle with loganberry bbq sauce!!! OMG Big Red is Texas cream soda, makes you BURP!! The pulled pork is absolutely wonderful. They keep it in a crock pot so it's very juicy and moist. I waited forever for the Turkey to be available since they have limited supplies. Once they sell out, that's it. I was disappointed. I don't recommend the Turkey and this is sad because I absolutely Love Turkey, but not this! Way too much Pepper on it and it tastes like it's been injected with solutions that do not complement the taste of the meat. Over processed! read more

WOW!! Picked up a couple of beef ribs, cheesey potatoes and a piece of smoked cheese cake. The beef ribs are huge, 1 rib was over a pound. The meat falls of the bone, juicy and lots of flavor!! First of all don't pay attention to your GPS. The restaurant is on Rt 5. It is on the corner of Rt. 5 and Hanley. After we drove around for an extra 15 minutes we figured it out. It was worth the trouble. Since it was the friend's birthday that was introducing us to as she put it "the best bbq in WNY" we gave her the meal as a present. You got to love a present that benefits both parties. We got the full big sharing platter with ribs,brisket, hot links with cheese, smoked turkey,pulled pork and 4 sides smoked mac and cheese, Augratin potatoes coleslaw and bake beans with pork. Plus, we got the special burnt ends of pork belly done in Ligonberry sauce. So darn good. It came with 3 additional bbq sauces. My husband liked the spicey Yankee sauce. but I felt I didn't need them. We tried all 4 sides with good portion sizes the small is just right for 1 person; 1) the beans were smoky, meaty and flavorful, 2) the mac-n-cheese and 3) cheesy potatoes (red skinned) had a nice, not over-powering smoky flavor and 4) the coleslaw while not my fav was well made with the mild taste of pineapple. The prices are exactly on point for what they should be. You get good quality food at a fair value. There are no waiters or waitresses which I am all right with because the business is laid out in a way where it's easy and convenient. Food is quick and quality. So while visiting from Texas we had a craving for some bbq.. yes I know it's like someone from Buffalo coming to Texas for wings.. but I must say you have a gem of bbq place in Yankee bbq. If this place was In The Austin area Franklin bbq would have the stiffest of competition.( yankee bbq is better imho). I saw that this place was open via facebook. It is in Blasdell and is so close. During the Covid-19 pandemic I have been trying to do my part to support the local restaurants. Stopped by and called the number to find that they were not opened but that they would be taking orders then next day for a special. $10.00. Pulled pork sandwich, cheesy potatoes, and Cole slaw. They were offering soda for $1 and beer for $3. The food was awesome. I loved the fact that they put the bbq sauce on the side. It was amazing too. I love bbq but I do like to have the option to use as much or as little as I want. All the items were in their own little open container and they even put picked onions, pickles and peppers in a container. Nice touch. Stopped and purchased two of the pulled pork combos for my wife and myself. Very delicious moist and tender. A great sandwich. I ordered the beans as one of the sides and they were very good. But as far as the other side i wanted to try the cheesy Potatoes but they were sold out. Well how about some fries, nope no fryer. Well I you guys need to get another side beside mac and cheese because some people have dietary restrictions. I would have given you 5 stars. Maybe a side salad or sweet potatoes mashed.
