My brother hired yankee pest control back in Sept. and every time he tries to book an appt they always say 2 weeks out. I told him that i use Burgess pest control and that they have a 48 hr turn around time, and that i would be bringing that company to the house. when he tried to cancel it they said they couldnt refund him some of his money he paid upfront even do he started the contract in Sept. I owned a 3 family in Newton and would have them come out for routine pest control service twice a year for the past four years. From the customer service rep who answered the phone and patiently answered all my questions; to the polite, wonderful, guy who serviced my home as if it was his own!! (I had 3 apartments that needed to be maintained). Because of his outstanding attention to the service he performed, neither my tenants, or I saw a rodent or an insect!! I found out the hard way I had a TERRIBLE mouse problem. Lived in the same house for 20 years and never anything like this! I was just gobsmacked! All of the technicians are very polite, knowledgeable, kind, understanding, and ready to help. I have had 3 techs over time (I can't remember the name of the first guy unfortunately), but I would like to comment on Sean and Cory. Both are excellent, pleasant, timely, knowledgeable, did not rush through, and very thorough. My problem is not small, so it is necessary to keep the follow up going, as Rome was not built in a day. The service was good when we were there to meet the technician, the technician let us know he was here, and we stayed with him to ask questions. Otherwise there were treatment mix ups that required multiple calls and emails to resolve. (And one issue that just wan't resolved. Just out of luck.) We hired Yankee Pest Control for almost 10 years for a termite inspection and kept this service along with preventive pest control. We recommend them to people and thought they were great until I found mice droppings in the kitchen and called them. First pest problem ever. Their reply was "We are fully booked and don't have emergency services. Feel free to hire another company ". After all these years of service that was their solution once pest problems happened. I called Yankee Pest Control to remove a wasp nest located near the roof line of my two story home. The person on the phone was very professional and even called back to offer an earlier appointment that opened up. The day before the appointment I received an automated phone call confirming the date and time. The technician arrived right on time and set up a ladder to deal with the nest, which only took about 30 minutes. They also give a 3 month warranty that the nest will not return. Wow! I'm a fan! So. We have (hopefully HAD!) yellow jackets. I am actually deathly allergic to them, and while I hate to poison anything, I also don't want to die. John, who showed up, was not just polite snd speedy but also took the time to answer all of my questions. I feel informed and guided. Amazing. Highly recommend this company. Don't hesitate. My problem when the world ended, was solved within 2.5 hours after they first arrived at my home. Worth reading: 1am saw a rat scurrying around the first floor of our home. It was probably my fault, I am a recent transplant from California and not really savvy on dense urban communities. Left the side door open when I was sorting recyclables and it must have scurried in. Called Yankee at 8am, they came by 9am. The magician Pied Piper is "Dennis". I showed him the Nest (Google) camera that captured video of the rat over the course of the wee hours and then Dennis did a thorough inspection of the home to see that there were not any openings where the rodent could have entered. He was very determined and experienced about this type of situation and very calm and a great explainer which is important when you are so traumatized by this situation. I signed up for a rodent control service and to start, indoor traps were laid. He had a special bait which is what you would imagine something that is sweet or savory that people tend to leave around the house. But we found that the rat had nibbled on a pear (we leave a bowl of fruit out, not ever again though) and so the pear was cut up as bait. I had to leave for an hour. I came back and one of the traps already trapped the rat. I called Yankee again and Dennis returned and cleaned up all the traps. All done! All done. Call them, and the price is basically the same throughout our area, greater Boston / Eastern Mass. The important thing therefore is, the attitude, service, experience. This is not a firm that tries to upsell or armwave. I am a newcomer to New England but I believe this firm reflects the quintessential New England character and personality. I used this service about 2 years ago when our building had issues with mice. The first person to visit our building for the initial inspection (which we paid for) was about 1.5 hours late. After calling the office several times to notify them and inquire about ETA, the actual person performing the inspection called us to let us know he would need to grab lunch before heading to our location. We were given no choice in this so we said ok. When they showed up they did a very quick inspection and recommended several options. We paid them and agreed to follow up. When we contacted the office to initiate the service, we confirmed what the service would entail and we specifically asked if it would be ok to pay via credit card or would we have to provide cash. We were told credit card payment would be acceptable. When the schedules appointment date arrived, the person performing the service was late again, this time for about 1 hour. The landlord of the building was also present and expressed this to the person when they arrived, to which there was no apology. When the service was finished, the person informed us they were unable to accept a credit card payment. There was a verbal disagreement that ensued about method of payment, then upon calling the office, we were told that a credit card payment would be okay. Honestly it was a poor experience from beginning to end, but we tried our best to give them the benefit of the doubt. In following up with the office about our experience, there was a mixed response of concern from some and then dismissal from others. The promise of a callback was never kept and honestly, it was exhausting and after a while, not even worth it. I gave them two stars because I believe they actually performed the service they agreed to do, however with an extremely poor customer experience overall. We did not follow up with the company following this appointment as we left it with our landlord and have since moved. I personally would not do business with this company ever again. It would seem that the good reviews of this place were from several years ago and perhaps their level of service has dropped. Such a pity as it seems this was a great family owned small business at one time. read more

Yankee Pest Control has done work for my property in the past so when I had a problem with mice I contacted them again. I committed to a 1 year contract for several hundred dollars. The idea being I am an active client so I would receive services if a problem arises. Called last week and I was told the first available appointment was 3 weeks forward and I would have to wait. Service has severely declined this year. I called again Saturday and I was told still no opening until 2 weeks forward. Maybe it's under new management, I chose them because they are a family run business. I believe in supporting local, family opened businesses because they have a stake in the business and the community. I asked to be called by a manager or owner .... I'm still waiting, while the mice eat the food in my pantry! Unaccepted when you paid a full year in advance! read more

We had a bad mouse problem last year, mice in every room in our house and eating all of our stored food, so I called Yankee Pest Control and they sent out a guy and he set a bunch of bait stations and they eventually got rid of the mice. I was very happy with their service, they came out a couple of times and replenished the bait in some of the stations that had been eaten by the mice. It took a couple of months to get rid of the mice as they were so bad. So everything was hunky dory, right? I had signed up for a comprehensive pest removal contract as it was only $100 more to get rid of all other pests although we didn't really have a problem with any other bugs or pests; When our contract ran out they started calling me to renew the contract but I declined, since the mice were gone and I didn't have a problem with any other bugs. They called a few times, Then suddenly on May 26 a guy shows up and walks into our backyard and starts spraying for ants. My dogs are freaking out and barking at him, I asked him what's going on and he says " I'm here to spray for ants" . I said " is this part of our existing contract?" and he says yeah. So I got my dogs in the house and he sprays for ants in the front and back of the house and leaves after 5 minutes. What happens next? Two days Later I get an invoice from Yankee Pest Control for $395 for spraying for ants. Never mind that (a) I don't even have an ant problem and (b) I never requested that they come out and spray for ants. Interestingly a couple of months earlier we got a visit from Allison Conboy who is the Health Inspector for the City of Medford, saying that 'multiple people have complained about a rodent infestation from my property. Now I have not seen any rodents on my property at all since the mouse problem of last year. Call me suspicious but I wonder whether someone from Yankee Pest Control called in a complaint about rodents to the city of Medford to try to force me to use their services to get rid of the non-existent rodents. read more

Wish I could give them a zero rating. The website says they use a bed bug sniffing dog. I hired them for this reason. Turns out the dog has been retired for a while now. Paid $75 for a "visual inspection" which I could have done myself. They didn't see anything. Three days later my son saw three live bed bugs, when he called to arrange for extermination, they said they wouldn't exterminate if they didn't see live bugs - the technician did not tell him to keep any live bugs he saw, so there's that, too. We were regular clients with a service contract with this company for 5 years. Called and scheduled service for someone to come out to deal with some sugar ants, stayed home to wait for service, nobody came. No call to let us know. I called to ask what happened, was put on hold for 15 minutes, I had to go but they never followed up. Then was told that they would have to reschedule us and it will be at least 2-3 weeks before someone can come out. Made no attempt to rectify the fact they dropped the ball in the first place. Ok, that's fine, but if the service contract means no service, we will take our business elsewhere. No thanks. read more

We had coachroach infestation problem in our building and have been exterminated by Yankee pest control company 4 times up to now, but we could not still get rid of roaches. Even though the staff was friendly, their system is definitely not good enough for dealing with german roaches. German roaches have been known as hard to get rid off, and I would expect them to treat the apartments better with dust, bait, and growth regulators. Just spraying is not helpful, it just put people's health in jeopardy. I would not recommend this company if you have roach problems, since they were not able to remove them after 2.5 months now. read more

The young man who came out today I forget if his name was Joe or John I apologize. He was wonderful super friendly kind and understanding. Yankee Pest did a great job in our Malden home ridding us of mice. Their contract was reasonably priced. This year during the height of COVID 19 they increased their 6 month fee to $354 and their annual fee to $395. The catch is that they can only go into your home if you leave it and only on "as need basis" not for routine rodent monitoring which is part of their service history. W0hen I asked for a lower fee given that a) We would have to leave our home and my husband is 81 and b) They can not fulfill normal contract monitoring of pest activity The response was unyielding. We were not in good conscience able to pay more and get less I feel compassion and flexibility is a smarter business practice but I dont own or operate Yankee Pest nor can I any longer recommend them Post Script So Yankee Pest management called me and gave me the option of what I paid LAST year in spite of Galvin lying on his response. They upped their rate last year in the winter of 2019/2020. I accepted their rate of $295 for the 6 month plan and renewed the contract. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because Galvin lied and that is no way to do business but the service employees earn 5 stars not the owners son who should learn honesty is the foundation for a trustworthy business read more

I would like to start off by saying Ed Johnson at Yankee Pest Control is amazing. He has been coming to our facility for years and we can always count on him to inform us, educate us and get the job done. Children's Playhouse Daycare Inc. in Everett is a full running year-round childcare center with over 100 children every day. Keeping it free from ants, rodents etc. is critical when little children are constantly walking around and crawling on the floor. The staff feel very comfortable with Ed because of the consistency, professionalism and funny personality. He arrives once a month to maintain our IPM Plan.... As a renter in the apartment that has been serviced twice now, I am extremely disappointed in the service provided by Yankee Pest Control. They have done nothing besides place traps down (which we had already purchased of similar type ourselves). The pest problem has not improved at all, if anything, it has gotten worse. The first visit, the employee entered the apartment without a mask on in the midst of this pandemic. The second visit, the employee detached a dishwasher hose without notifying us and left it that way. The kitchen and cabinet under the sink then flooded our floors with our use of the dishwasher before we noticed and were able to return things to their correct place. We will not be recommending this service to any others we know with rodent issues in the city, and we believe our landlord should be refunded for the additional trouble and lack of relief this company has brought us. read more

We used YPC for a few years and were happy with the service, but recent experiences were not good at all. I signed up for tick control, 3 treatments over the course of this summer for $640. The first treatment was done for mosquitoes, not what I authorized or wanted. Fortunately, I noticed that the treatment was not the area treated for ticks and called the company. They came out and did the tick treatment. I then sold my house, no longer needed tick control at my new house and the company refused to refund the money for the remaining treatments and said that I could transfer the contract to the new house (where I do not need tick control, nor want unneeded chemicals).This is unacceptable and a clearly untenable business practice. Nowhere was it stated that they would not refund on a prorated basis. Very unhappy. read more

what a waste of money! $75 for just an inspection. The guy came in, walked around the home pointing a flash light at corners, literally took all of 5 minutes and said things look ok. He didn't even get on the ground to look under/behind the stove/dishwasher/fridge. didnt even move stuff around on the floor of closets to look. I asked him if that's all he's going to do because it was way too quick. He replied that he will give me some sticky boards to place around the home to trap them...he said that way at least i dont have to go out and buy them. for 75 bucks i could have gotten a buttload of sticky boards!! Yankee Pest Control is USELESS and a RIP OFF. DO NOT HIRE THEM. use the money to buy your own traps because that's all you'll be paying for if you hire them. read more

When Ed was at our house last August he suggested I write a review about the service. I said absolutely because he was great as well as the lady who scheduled our appointments, but I had to wait a year to see if our bat problem was actually solved. Well we have had no bats and it's been a year! This company was recommended by our home inspector who has never let us down when making suggestions about our home issues.
