Dropped $215 for 3 people for some really average/bad food. My husband wanted to go there because he heard they sous vide steaks when the owner is there, he was excited to get a nice steak. 1) Pan Fried duck $32- Dry, overcooked, unseasoned. Skin looked crispy but was not. Supposed to come with a mandarin sauce. Sauce I got had to be just soy & hoisin. No citrus flavor at all and very thin and salty. Oversalted potato slices, gummy rice & no veg. 2) Secret steak menu $63 - Sous vide ribeye was large and my husband liked it. This was also served with oversalted potato slices, no veg. 3) Slow braised pork $28 - Pork cut was pork belly which would have been nice to mention on the menu. My son wouldn't have chosen that entree if he knew that was the cut. It was a gelatinous mountain of darkened fat in a salty sauce. The bok choy was fine, simply steamed and unremarkable. Gummy rice. 4) Scallion pancake $8 - greasy and very light on scallions. Meh. 5) Blue crab & cheese wontons $12 - Very little filling, though what was in there was good. Mostly hard crispy wonton, not light or airy. The dipping sauce was giving mango baby food vibes. 6) Cocktails - Lychee Grapefruit Martini $13 and Baby Boulevardier $15 were good. 7) Bathroom was dirty and trach can overflowing onto the floor at 7pm on a Sunday night. 8) Had at least 4 different servers approach our table to take our orders and every time we tried to order they said they'd come back later due to the time it would take for the sous vide steak to finish cooking. It would have been nice to have a single server coordinate that timing with the kitchen instead of a parade of different people ask us to order and then leave when they heard there was a steak working. 9) Table had a view of a wine room that looked more like a storage room with lots of random cardboard boxes. 10) When they cleared the table and took the steak board away there was a greasy puddle under it that was never wiped up by anyone despite us remaining at the table for some time afterward. We wanted to try this place after seeing it on Yelp! We ordered a few appetizers and a noodle dish! "Xiao Long Bao" Soup Dumpling - the skin was too thick and not much taste! Yao Fuzi Spring Roll - Marinated shredded chicken and mixed vegetables served with honey citrus dipping sauce. (Didn't taste any chicken in the roll) Chicken Lettuce Wrap - the filling was too salty! Salt and Pepper Shrimp - this was the best out of all the dishes we had! Inconsistent. That's my overall impression of this Chinese restaurant that has been in Plano for years. In my recent visit, my Kung Pao Tofu was barely edible. The sauce was soooo overly sweet. Clearly too much hoisin and the expeditor was on break! Also there were no vegetables and no peanuts. You can imagine the texture. Yeah.........Also the fried rice- oh, it's on par with Panda Express. Don't get me wrong- I like Panda, but their fried rice is 1/8th of the price. On the same night hubby got the founder special. Verdict: felt the place was too overpriced for they're serving. Here's what we got: Apps: - Blue Crab and Cheese Wontons: very little blue crab and cheese. We could mainly taste the crispness of the wonton - Spicy Ahi Tuna with Asian Pear Summer Rolls: all we could taste here was lettuce and tuna and mainly the lettuce. Entrees: - Crispy beef: good but not worth $34 - Fuzi prawn: way too sweet. Side: - lo mein: For $9, I expected way more noodles than what we got. In fact, for that price, I would've expected the lo mein to include vegetables as well. First time at YF tonight. Underwhelming!! Took forever to get the attention of a group of servers talking to each other. Finally one of them made it to our table so we could request a wine list. We had several different servers over the course of the night, all of them so arrogant. We will not be back. Food was so-so and did not light a match to Royal China at Preston and Royal. We had the Crispy Beef, recommend by our server and one of the Chef's Recommendations on the menu. Try the Dry Stirred Beef at Royal China and you will never touch the Crispy Beef at YF again. We also ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Pork Fried Rice, both very bland. Restaurant needs a good wipe down. My menu had sticky all over the front cover and we happened to be sitting next to a piece of art with bits of food on the glass and frame. Ewww! Very average food. Rude staff. read more

I would walk out if I didn't already order The service was rude except for the guy working the bar. The floors were so sticky I can only imagine the cleanliness of the kitchen. The ambiance is outdated, dust, and gross. The TV is from the 90s. I can't even and I spent $60 so I'm hoping the food is not gross but I'm concerned. The food was average. I paid dinner but received lunch portions. The egg drop soup was gelatin texture while barely filling the bowl, the lettuce wraps were okay but seemed frozen not fresh, the entree was lunch portion and not fancy restaurant style but pei wei style, The shishito pepper were okay but not like Mexican Sugars. I've come here a couple of times for large group meals and consistently had good experiences! The service is always fast and friendly, they've gone above and beyond in terms of dish modifications. I also can't recall any instances where I've run into significant wait times. The quality is pretty good all around. The menu leans more towards Americanized Chinese but has some less common options available on the chefs specials section of the menu. The latter definitely pales in comparison to what I'd look for in a go to Chinese spot, both in terms of quality and quantity of options Overall it's a bit on the pricey side for the food offerings, but a good chunk of that can be chalked up to the nicer ambiance. It doesn't personally do anything for me so I knock it down a little bit. Overall my recommendation depends on your circumstances, if you're looking to please a large group and have a nicer evening out it's a solid option, but if you're a foodie visiting Dallas I'd recommend looking elsewhere read more

Had a birthday night at Yao Fuzi. The food was very good, but the service was slow and the server seemed to disappear for long periods of time. This was my first time visit to Yao Fuzi Cuisine. PB has been here before several years ago and told me it's fancy and food is good. My hair was messy, bc it's been raining and we've been running errands since earlier in the morning. Maybe, bc of that, female waitress with a short hair was very short and abrupt, with me, bc here I am with a messy hair in this "fancy" Chinese eatery. Perhaps, I didn't belong there. PB wanted a big bowl of egg drop soup, but the lady said, "we don't do that!" She then said soup comes with the meal. You can have small or medium, so we got medium and I gave him mine, bc I wasn't that hungry. I wanted Za Jiang noodles, but without pork, but she said the sauce is already made with pork. I could tell she wasn't even going to accommodate me, so I wasn't going to even ask. She kept coming back every minute or so, but I wasn't even done looking over the menu and PB told her it's my first time(and last time)here. She was very impatient! I should had got up and walked out to go to Kenny's East Coast Pizza right across the parking lot. At least, we get treated with friendliness there. We finally decided on Shrimp and crab fried rice. They came with egg rolls which I gave mine to PB. He said it was vegetable egg rolls. My crab fried rice was decent, but PB said his wasn't. It was very bland and 4 shrimps in there and too much peas and carrots. How can you mess up a shrimp fried rice and this is a fancy/expensive Chinese restaurant. The impatient server didn't serve us anymore, we had another one. She looked like she was poisoned each time she asked PB he wanted another coke. 2 nice male servers/runners brought us hot sauce(it was hot!)and soy sauce for PB(He likes to add soy sauce to his fried rice like the White guy from the movie Joy Luck Club). The hostess who seated us was nice too. Inside the restaurant was very fancy. It reminded me of those fancy Chinese restaurants in Japan. The only nice thing the server did was she put the fried rice in a container for me. $47 for 2 fried rice and coke and I left her $8 tip. I felt that the servers were very snobbish towards us and I don't feel comfortable to go to an establishment that treats customers as such. I was glad I was able to experience the snobbery and write a review about it, but I will not return and will continue to go to Zhang's Asian Bistro/kitchen where we're welcome, staff are friendly and the food is excellent. read more

I have ordered take out, and dined , at this restaurant for years. Recently there have been some changes, not for the better. For example, I ordered a simple Kung Pao chicken with fried spring rolls take out last night. Both were barely edible. The fried rolls were dripping with oil and had clearly not been drained at all, and /or the deep frier was not hot. The chicken dish did not have any pieces of green bell pepper or any vegetable at all. It was not as described on the menu and the "gravy" was unlike the usual and had an odd taste. I'm very disappointed and I don't think I'll be buying take out food at Yao Fuze again. So, a 17 year old customer relationship is at an end. read more

If you are a regular Texan who like American style Chinese food, this is a great place. Works even better if you have never been to China town in NY or SF.. Quality of materials used is very good as is the wine selection. Owner is a an accomplished wine collector and has exquisite collection of wines. Waiters have worked there for a long time and they are mostly good in their service. I have gone to this place many time and they consistently bring food and cocktails at the same time! They have done this consistently to where I had to ask them to reheat the food one time! I have visited this place since early 2000 if not earlier. I have taken friends there. For a while Howard Wang had opened a place in Richardson called Mandarin and I went there and preferred it over this place. There are many regulars who go to this place. I went to this place with my wife for the first time in many years September 2025. She is vegetarian and she does not like hard or fried Tofu. She tends to like spicy food. The moment we set down the owner showed up. Her attitude "what are you doing here""Her interaction with my wife was that of a step mother telling a disliked child what she can and cannot eat. She genuinely lacked interest and went out of her way to offer her only one dish. She exhibited her mastery of disdain exceptionally well. For someone who has dined in Chinatown in NYC, San Francisco as well as Hong Kong and in China, we were really shocked at her behavior. She refused to consider modifying any dishes on the menu. I would have expected her to show some sympathy or be honest and say I cannot help you. I ordered what I normally do. My drink and food did not come at same time but actually my food came before my cocktail! IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS THET THE OWNER WANTED US OUT IF THERE. When waiter tried to say something she rudely interrupted. We finished what we could. As I was paying I asked myself: Why would I be paying a tip? Who would I be paying to? Waiter did nothing more than what the guys do a burger place or a dog friendly place that serves my dog some treats! For the first time in twenty years I left without paying a tip. I had the mental satisfaction of knowing that I did communicated my displeasure. I guess we are even because she never wants people like us who are non Texans to walk in her joint and I am determined never to go back. In her mind she had determined that my kind don't tip well and cause problems so she probably would never want me back there! I have been to ten different Chinese places in Plano and probably ten more in Richardson and Dallas. We have never been treated this way. Once I ordered one dish, I had to try another and another and another just to make sure. The food, prep and delivery all get 5 Stars from me. The service....meh. I may be different than most but when I do go out to eat (especially with friends). I like to enjoy my time and not feel rushed. Especially, if I am picking up the bill for more than $500 bucks for a party of four. Having made that statement. The ambience and decor was enjoyable and light. If I were to make a suggestion: I would market Yao Fuzi as its name suggests. "Asian Fusion". Overall, a very enjoyable experience and the food was delightful! read more

Great food! Service is very good - efficient and very attentive, but I would not say smiling or overly friendly. Cocktails were good and very reasonably priced. Family owned and operated. They have an extensive menu. So many options looked great. The couple we were with have been many times and knew the owner (Kris) well, so we let them pick for the table. We loved their choices. We started with the scallion pancakes and crab and cheese wonton (rangoon). The scallion pancake was exceptional, but I did not think the wonton or rangoon was that good and a bit overcooked. I would skip it next time. For entrees, we shared the Fuzi Prawns, Singapore Noodles, and a sliced ribeye steak. I recommend all three and it was more than enough for the four of us as we could not finish them. This was the first steak I have had at a Chinese restaurant. It was delicious and perfectly grilled and prepared to our requested medium rare. The Fuzi Prawns are jumbo and so good but watch out for the sugar high. My family visited for dinner and found it quite packed. I'm glad we had made a reservation. We ordered the braised eggplant ($13), four season tofu and mushroom appetizer ($10), snow pea tips ($14), and Shanghai style flounder ($19). The snow pea tips were overly salty, but the rest of the dishes were very flavorful and tasty! The eggplant, although labeled spicy on the menu, was not spicy at all but we still loved it. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, but with the tables being small, it felt cramped and we had to finish the food quickly to make room on the table. The restaurant offers both traditional Chinese dishes and Americanized Chinese food, so there's something for everyone. The staff were also happy to provide some menu suggestions. The menu has the Chinese names of traditional dishes, and most of the waiting staff are bilingual in English and Chinese. WOW! This is the best Chinese food I've had in DFW. I wish I got pictures of everything we had but it was all delicious. The service isn't super fluffy but it's because they're so busy making sure your water is full, food is coming out and getting orders in. We luckily made reservations because even on a Wednesday it was packed. Below is what we got/thoughts - Soup Dumpling - incredible, one of our favorite parts Blue Crab and Cheese Wontons - delicious, standard wontons. Wife and I tried this on a Saturday afternoon. We shared the Pot Stickers and Orange Beef. Plenty of food for the both us, food was AMAZING!!! The pot stickers dough was very tasty, the meat was different than we are used to but still really good. The orange beef was the most tender beef I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant.
