I went with a rice bowl from one spot and had a few of the mini donuts from the other location for dessert. I also saw a Thai food concept, a smoothie bar and a ramen spot. There are a lot of different seating options available, but none of them are particularly comfortable. When I went for dinner, the place was only about half full and the trash area was a little bit unkempt. Parking is available on the street or in adjacent lots but everything is paid during typical daytime hours from about 8 AM until about 7 PM. The bathrooms do require an access code but are available on site. Personally, I feel like this place had a bit more clout when it first opened before the pandemic. But, it still has some relevance and it's a great spot for a casual meal just because of the variety of options that are available. If you come with a group, everyone can try what they like. Overall, a good showcase of some under the radar food establishments that conglomerate in a fun shared space. Check it out!

This place is Portland's oldest food cart pod (been around since the early '80s), recently refreshed into a lush, gated beer garden with 25+ carts, covered tent seating for hundreds, real bathrooms, shade, greenery everywhere, and most importantly two security guards at the gate. In a downtown that still has its signature edge, that gated entrance is a game-changer. I pulled up, parked, and immediately spotted the full Portland welcome committee: one guy sleeping on the sidewalk looking down on his luck, and a couple of zombies shuffling across the street. Classic PDX. One of them wandered over and, with zero hesitation, asked me for a hundred bucks... or at least to buy him something to eat. We had a good laugh about it. I told him, "Hey man, God bless maybe next time." There's something about this city where the best food and the rawest street life sit right next to each other. It's history. It's real. And yeah, it can feel a little intimidating if you're not used to it, especially if you've got your partner or family in tow. But here's the beautiful part: once you step inside the gate at Midtown Beer Garden, that whole chaotic energy stays outside. It's clean, welcoming, and surprisingly chill. The venue had an incredible assortment of food options along with tons of outdoor activities for our grandson. It made for a fantastic trip to the Art District. We tried all kinds of treats. I had the Lamb Tikki Gyro and started with a fresh Dragon Roll. My grandson devoured 3 corn dogs and fries!
