She said ox was pretty good, the chicken was not jerk but it was fall off bone and had a yummy sauce. I got veggie plate w plantain, cabbage, Mac/cheese, 2nd visit just pattie. The food at this restaurant is some of the better Jamaican food I've had in Charlotte. I ordered takeout and It was very flavorful and good portions. I ordered the oxtails and was given 4 pieces of oxtails. For the amount of the plate, I should have been given a few more pieces. It was a little too sweet for my preference but still tasty. I appreciate that they cooked the meat with butter beans. Oxtails come with rice and peas you have an option of selecting 1 other side for which I ordered the plantains. The curry chicken was my favorite it was well seasoned and just enough spice. It also came with rice and peas and 1 side for which I ordered the steam cabbage. The one down side is that plantains are not included and you therefore have to order a whole side of it. If I'm in the area I may order from this place again. read more

I did DoorDash with them yesterday and may I say I was pleasantly surprised. I love Jamaican food. First the portions was enough to share with my husband off one dinner. I got curry chicken comes with rice and peas along with collard greens. I also got a beef patty. The food was delicious and spice level was moderate and the greens were a great mixture of sweet, sour and spicy. Beef patty was good as well. Disgusting! I'm so upset. I paid for Uber to bring my Rasta pasta to the house. First off it was rotini noodles rather than penne. Second I thought it would some sort of jerk sauce on it to give the browning color I am used to but it was more an Alfredo type sauce. According the description it was coconut milk which I am a fan of. I'm not sure how it was made but the taste was just so awful I added badia season salt, pepper, and cayenne to bring it to life. The original taste and seasoning was so bad the pasta couldn't even be brought to life before let alone after attempting to season it on my own. I went upstairs to tell my partner how horrible it was and why did we get this food to go. You guys .... Why did I dump it in my trash because of the horrific taste. Irie has made me a believer. I didn't think it was possible to replicate authentic Jamaican flavor in Charlotte. It took us a while to get over here, but this is about to be staple. Jerk Chicken Pasta 4/5: Great flavor. I wish that the sauce was thicker to coat the noodles better. The taste is definitely there though. BBQ Jerk Plate 5/5: Tender, flavorful and comes with rice and peas. We also got yams (4/5) and cabbage (2/5). The yams have a savory flavor, so don't expect granny's sweet yams. The cabbage was soft, but lacked traditional flair to them. This was easily solved by mixing all my food together . read more

The food is always good at either Ire Nation location. When I order salmon the meat is tender and delicious. All of the food tastes fresh and tasty. They have jerk, curry, spicy chillies, and so much more. Pair a patty with some coco bread and pineapple ginger and you have a quick and filling lunch on the go. Oxtails sauce is a little different than I'm use to as it's on the sweeter side but thank goodness they put enough spiciness to compliment the sweetness. Rice n Peas perfectly cooked tender and flavorful. Cabbage not over cooked still had a slight crunch and seasoned perfectly. Jerk chicken perfectly spicy like jerk chicken is suppose to be. Lots of small bones just be careful. Collard greens were also very weirdly sweet but paired well with the jerk chicken as it was spicy. We had take out and unfortunately they don't take orders over phone so be prepared to wait. As it's a busy place! They also don't skimp out on sauce on your rice like lots of other spots do. Good portion sizes. Oxtails expensive but that's everywhere unless you cook them at home. Just wish they threw in at least one plantain like most Jamaican spots do. Can't wait to return! read more

I arrive to pick the food up, and staff says they ran out of beef Pattie's (why was it an option to order then?) but they could refund the money to my card and gave me a free small Can of pepsi as an apology. A little tiny place, bigger flavor. We ordered a few different things but the star of the show were the oxtail plate and the jerk chicken. My husband has to watch his sugar and for being a Caribbean place we are surprised with the amount of sugar in every single dish. Sugar in the greens, sugar in the cabbage, sugar in the gravy, everything was sweet which is why we took off a star. It was still good but very sweet. I'd go back, because I happen to like my greens on the sweeter side, and I'd get the oxtail plate again. The macaroni was good and the yams were hella sweet. All together it was a nice, sugary meal. I had wanted to try this restaurant for MONTHS! I decided to stop in on a Friday afternoon and ordered a bunch of food. There's free parking on-site but it is located with other businesses and companies so the parking can be tricky. There was a short line and people waiting when I walked in. There's a long booth area to sit in. The food is packaged to-go. I'm not sure if they allow dining in as there's not a lot of available seating. I hadn't eaten at all that day so I spent the entire time looking at the menu. My eyes were bigger than my stomach haha. I decided on a large BBQ Jerked Chicken (I wasn't aware that rice and peas and plantain came with it), Chicken Patty, Mac and cheese, and Candied Yams. I decided on the large one since it wasn't a big price difference between a small one ($10) and a large one ($12.90). My total price was under $30. The wait wasn't longer than 10 minutes. I was too excited to get some food in my tummy and try out this place so I took a bite before taking a picture. The chicken patty was delicious! It had the perfect amount of spicy and still flavorful. The Mac and cheese was good but I wouldn't repurchase due to my personal Mac and cheese palate. The candied yams were yummy and satisfied my yams craving. The bbq jerk was soooooo good. My only complaint is there were a bunch of small bones but other than that I have no complaints. The rice and peas were flavorful and yummy. I'm not a big rice person but this impressed me. I'm not a fan of plantains so I mixed it with the rice and peas and it created a nice sweet flavor. I don't have the largest appetite but the food stretched for THREE days. I appreciate that my food was still hot (temperature) when I got home. I ate from here twice. The first time I had the small plate of jerk chicken with rice & beans. It wasn't awful, but later that evening, I got brutally sick. I suffered from food coming out from the basement & and the attic. It was just awful. The second time, my daughter ordered delivery. I ordered the fish, thinking it would be safe. Let me tell y'all something. I have not had a plate of food so totally inedible in my life as I did that day. The fish was like rubber. I could tell it was probably sitting under a heat lamp for days. DISGUSTING!! Then they had the audacity to put WHOLE habanero peppers all over the plate with the seeds still in it. Who does that? I found 3 of them on my plate. Needless to say, I could not eat any of the food. The whole plate was inedible. It was too spicy, too dry, & too gross. My daughter asked for a refund. We had spent over $60 for the meal. They refused to return all of her money, but she was able to get some money back. I love this place! When anyone in Charlotte asks for a good Caribbean restaurant this is always the first place I name. Their food is amazing, especially the oxtails. The beef patties and Mac n cheese are great as well- for some reason other restaurants I've tried in Charlotte had very salty beef patties or dry & unflavored Mac n cheese. When the oxtails were out I tried the curry goat instead and it ended up being super delicious. Out of town visiting friends, we wanted Jamaican and ended up here. This place is small on the inside, but the have a patio area that is located on the side of the building. We ordered our food on the inside an took it the patio. It was pretty nice sitting on the patio catching up with friends. I order the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and mixed vegetables. I had no complaints, my food was pretty good. You definitely get your money worth, I got plenty of food and enough for leftovers. The restaurant is a little hole in the wall on the North side of town. You have the option to eat in but due to COVID your able to do pick up only. The place is always crowded. Wanted some Jamaican food really bad and decided to try the ox tails. I gave it 3 stars because the ox tails were a bit tough. I like my ox tails tender and falling off the bone a bit. It could've been one of those days and they didn't have a chance to cook down a bit more. I will say you get a lot of food and you could easily share the food if you wanted too.
