One of my friends was in town and I suggested we go to Yard House since I had received one of their mailers. It was a Sunday afternoon, the wait wasn't bad and the ambiance was cool. The food was OK, nothing to rave about. We had jerk (not real jerk though) wings as appetizer, the wingettes part of the wings were well seasoned and done. I didn't taste the drumettes so I don't know about that. I had the Pepperoni Pizza which was OK, the crust was not cooked well ( I took it home and finished cooking it in the oven). The customer service is awful. I was with a reservation of 14 for a birthday dinner and they tried to tell us that they had us seated at different tables. That's not the point of a reservation. They were very rude to us about accommodating a seating arrangement together, so we ended up leaving. If you want the hostesses to talk about you behind menus and the manager to not be apologetic at all, then go there. But believe me, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Love the restaurant and beer selection. Great place to try all sorts of beers and their mixed drinks are also fantastic. The beer menu is extensive and nicely arranged by overall type of beer, beer name, what type of beer within that grouping, alcohol content, where brewed and price by shorty, goblet/pint or half yard. There are also a few bottles, but 99% will be draft as they have over 130 taps. You can try many local brewed beers or you can have a standard domestic well-known beer as well. All the staff seems to know what to recommend after you describe what you like. And what is usually missing from these types of places is the quality of food, but at the Yardhouse everything I've ever ordered has been very good and quality stuff. Pizzas are great! As well as most everything on the menu. Some people I know complain it is pricey but for what I got and the cool selection of beers, I felt it was a great value. If you are looking cheap, then I'm willing to bet you would not like this place at any price. My wife and I visited Denver a couple years ago and loved that Yardhouse and were happy to hear at that time one was targeted for Raleigh. We've been to the Raleigh location at least 10 times all with very pleasant experiences. We even stopped by there midafternoon with several kids in tow and staff was very nice to the children. The kids enjoyed the food and we didn't feel like we were subjecting them to a "bar". Music can be a bit loud but don't mind asking them to turn it down if you have kids there and it's out of the normal busy time. Else it's not really a place for children anyway. I also like the outside seating when the weather is good. I like the fact you can sit at the bar for that "bar feel" or sit in a large restaurant table/booth for a restaurant feel. You can also go to their website and find out what's on tap at this location or search for a beer and see if they have it. About the only thing is that I wish they carried much more NC selections of beer, but bartender told us that was set by the head folks who are not from this area, which means contracts/sells agreements with certain breweries are probably at play. Still they carried a wide selection with many from NC. Only issue- parking. It can be tough at busy times to find parking but most of the time the empty lot beside the building has a few but its dirt. Else you are going in the parking deck. read more

I absolutely love the food, drinks, and atmosphere! The seared ahi sashimi, vodka pasta (I get it with blackened chicken instead of shrimp), truffle oil fries, burgers, house salad, sweet potato fries, and Hawaiian poke stack are all amazing. The wine selection is great and the Hawaiian Mule is my favorite drink! The music is great. Anthony & Casey are great servers. Unfortunately, one of the servers is not attentive and somewhat rude. We originally went to Cowfish which had a 1.5 hr wait so since we were starving, we decided to go here instead. I was so not in the mood for bar food and was not very optimistic about eating here. I was expecting greasy, fried bar food, but got a delicious, quality fusion meal! The spicy tuna roll appetizer was such a pleaser! A stack of ingredient, minus the rice - delicious and creative. I knew they had a lot of choices...but whoa. our waiter was actually EXTREMELY helpful and being he was a beer snob too, he was patient as well. he was very willing to get us samples too try. after my boyfriend and I settled on beers we ordered some cheese steak eggrolls and a burger each. the burgers were cooked to perfection. the fries were amazingly addictive. i can't wait to go back again. read more

This was sadly, one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Came in about 6:00 on a Saturday night and waited a typical amount of time...but then after ordering 3 basic apps, all came out cold and had to be sent back. You'd think that would be enough to have the server and kitchen staff ensure our next food was perfect - of a table of 7 people, only 1 person has hot food after waiting nearly an hour. The general manager didn't really seem to care much until we told her not to refire our food because we were ready to leave. The food is excellent. The steak I had was large and cooked to perfection. The potatoes were delicious. I felt very well taken care of, as our wait staff was awesome. It was dark and dimly lit, but very nicely decorated. I wouldn't go as a first date, anniversary, or any kind of special event, though. It's loud, and when I say loud, I mean very loud. It's hard to hear anyone speaking to you. Even the wait staff. If you're going with a group of people, it would be fine. It's expensive, though. read more

Disappointing to say the least. I ordered fish and chips and was served four 3" portions of mostly beer batter. Our silverware arrived several minutes after the food. My fish was luke warm, skimpy and certainly not worth $17. It would have been nice to have had my chips with the fish but they came after I was done with my fish. When our waitress brought them, she put them on the table, said "sorry about that" and walked away. I don't think she ever asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee and I know I was never asked what I wanted to drink. I give 1 point for food and a big fat "0" for the service. read more

Food is subpar at this location. I've been to two locations in Atlanta where the food seemed to be hotter and more fresh. Our service was pretty good except a member of our party was refused a second beer because the manager said he was too intoxicated, however our sever didn't tell us this until we received the check. We had been waiting on his second beer for a long time. We were coming from a wedding so I see why they might assume we were drunk, however the man refused service was the least intoxicated of our party and the rest of us been served drinks. It seems to me to be poor customer service first for them to not say why they were not serving them, and two because the manager actually never came and spoke with him to actually tell his state of sobriety (he was). He was just ordering quickly because our waitress warned us last call was approaching. Would not go again, other decent dining options in the area. The customer service is great, and they really like to listen to customer feedback on their experience so they can continually look to improve the restaurant experience. I've been there a few times and decided to take my family there for my sister's 21st birthday. The food is always great and they have a great variety of food from which to choose--which is a plus as our mother is very hard to please. My dad ordered the ribs and said it reminded him of the ribs of some of New York's finest restaurants which he said is hard to find down here. Our father is a Korean Vet and I truly appreciate the manner in which the manager recognized and honored his service. Overall--it's a great place, with great food and great hospitality. I work upstairs from Yardhouse and have frequently ordered lunch to go from there, and unfortunately was very put off by my experience there today. I looked at the Yardhouse Raleigh menu online and ordered the shrimp kale caesar salad, which was listed as being $12.95. When I arrived to pick it up I was told my total was $18. I asked why it was so much higher than the price listed online and was told there are two portion sizes and the $12.95 price was a half portion. Nowhere on the website does it indicate the prices of different portion sizes, and I didn't even know when I placed my order that there was the option to get any other size. The visiting manager, Roy, came over and argued with me that there weren't even prices listed online and then proceeded to tell me I must have looked at their website through Yelp. I informed him that I looked directly on their Raleigh Yardhouse website, to which he continued to argue with me. I told him I would be happy to show him on their computer, and he told me they didn't have a computer. Instead of comping me the rate that is listed as their price online, he asked me if I wanted to place a different order. Being on my lunch hour and already running late, I didn't have the time to sit and wait for another order to be made. He then took my salad in the back, dumped out half of it and brought it back and charged me the $12.95 price. Even the wait staff at the front were surprised that he did this. I won't even begin to mention that the salad was missing items that the menu said it included. If I hadn't been pressed for time, I would have turned around and walked next door to Cowfish and picked up something there, as I've always been more than pleased with everything I've ordered from there. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. Terrible customer service from management to a customer that frequents their establishment. Very disappointing. read more

I had the best experience at Yard House that I have had at a restaurant in a long time! I will say that they get very busy so I would recommend calling ahead before you get there so most of your wait will be over when you walk through the door. Immediately after you walk in you notice how clean the restaurant is and how upper class dining it really is. I took my girlfriend here for our one month anniversary and it was a wonderful expletive. Our server introduced herself and was very knowledgable about the menu. I asked several questions because I couldn't decide what to order on the gargantuan menu and my server provided me with a quick and easy to understand answer every time. I happened to catch the manager walk by and we got into a nice conversation about how delicious the food is and random stuff. I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich, and the Crème brûlée for dessert was out of this world! Great job, yard house! I will definitely be returning. read more

My boss and I went to Yardhouse this afternoon for lunch. We have been there before and have had Brandon and Nick as our servers. Their service was exceptional and is the reason why we decided to go again. Today we were greeted by Jason who immediately made us happy that we had returned. There was a shift change so Jason was no longer our server after his greeting. Rachel, another server, then came over, introduced herself and greeted us. She was very polite, paid attention to detail, and made our experience today even better than our previous meals there. She let us sample beer, not to mention that she did a great job with her selections. At one point my boss had mentioned not doing well with spicy food and after he ordered his entree, Rachel returned to our table to make him aware of the fact that what he ordered had a bit of a kick to it. She asked if he was okay with it and said that once the food came out she would replace the spicy part of the entree if it was too hot for him. We were both very impressed that she remembered him mentioning that and was courteous enough to double check with him. All in all, we had an incredible experience, yet again! Located in the upscale North Hills complex, convenient to I440 & Six Forks Rd. Parking is convenient with the sizable deck adjacent. They have by far the most extensive tap selection I've found in the Triangle area! Every possible beer style is represented. The majority of the list is static over time but they do have a decent rotating selection. The bar staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and they are generous with tasting samples and recommendations. I've never had a problem with freshness/quality, the prices are average/reasonable, but I did once discuss with the bar manager that the temperature of the stouts was too cool. I guess they don't have the ability to properly segregate the styles by ideal temperature with such a large variety in stock - no biggie. They have a huge, efficient kitchen which can deliver nicely in even the most crowded times. The food offerings are a trendy-fusion style that I have found to be well-presented and reasonable quality. As you can imagine, this all translates into 'pricey' but it is commensurate with the area of town, the clientele, and the general experience. Being as we are retired, my wife and I take advantage of the daily half-price appetizers from 3-6PM which makes a combination small-plate dinner quite affordable and highly enjoyable. read more

Prior to Saturday night I would have rated a 4 or 5, but after our service and treatment over the weekend when we dined with another couple, I will think long and hard about going back. Hopefully it was just an off night, but my husband and I went to dinner with another couple. We waited an hour to be seated which was fine as we were able to grab some seats at the bar for a few drinks while we waited. Once we were seated another waitress took our drink order and we were told our waiter would be with us shortly. Upon his first stop at our table we were pleased and put in an appetizer order of the chicken nachos and the lobster/crab/artichoke dip. They were brought out promptly by our waiter, but then the level of service went down very quickly. We watched him wait on his other tables multiple times before returning to check on us. When he did, he only stopped to ask how our appetizers were (which was clear we were finished by 1 empty plate and the other nearing empty), but he left so quickly before we could even tell him we were ready to place our entree order. Almost 30 minutes went by with no return and no orders taken. So by this point we have decided to bring it to the managers attention and were were appalled by her attitude of caring less. She made NO attempt to keep us there. She offered to box up the remaining appetizer and that was it. Nothing said about taking our order and expediting the process as we had already waited far too long. After a few more minutes of pondering her lack of customer service, we tracked her down AGAIN to which she said she would remove the appetizer charge from our card. Not to mention once we complained to the manager, our waiter quickly became a complete jerk and basically tossed my check onto the table beside me and walked away without a word. It wasn't even about getting the appetizer comp'd. We WANTED to stay there and order our food, but since she made no effort to care whether we stayed or not we took our business next door to cowfish where we were seated instantly and served promptly and POLITELY. I will definitely think twice before I dine there again or take guests there for a night out. read more

I have been to YH numerous times and normally am very pleased. I went with a group of 7 on a Tuesday night. We were easily seated at a table that was plenty large enough to accommodate us. This is where the positive experience ended. Our waiter was quite slow and took forever to bring us our appetizer order of the chicken nachos. He then took a long time to come back and get the rest of our order. About 30 minutes later a manager came by to tell us that any orders already placed would be completed but any new orders would not be taken due to a water main break in the kitchen. We asked him to verify that our orders would still be prepared. A while later the manager came back and said the problem was worse than originally thought and no food would be sent out of the kitchen. He told us that the nachos and 2 kids meals that were already received would be on him but we would not be getting anything else. We left a tip on the table and left the restaurant. While I completely understand something being out of their control, I feel as though there would have been a much better way of handling the problem. We were there for over an hour and a half and only had 1 plate of nachos and 2 small kids meals to show for it. A coupon or some sort of incentive would have enticed us to come back another time, but this place just lost the loyalty of our large party. read more

So my boyfriend and I literally just left this place and I signed up for yelp just to write a review. We walked in and of course the bar is full...so we sit at a high top. Took a while to get some service, but eventually it came and the girl was real young but seemed nice. We ordered a couple of vodka tonics and two chilled fireball shots. When we got our cocktails, we both immediately noticed that something was off. The tonic tasted like soda water and we couldn't taste the vodka at all. My bf refused to drink it, but I'm not one to complain usually....so I agreed to drink both of ours while he got another (bc maybe they used soda water instead of tonic?)....when his next drink came it was the same story. As a former bartender and server.....I know that usually means that the soda bag is empty and just needs replacing. We both agreed to just take the drinks anyways....to try not to be complicated or make our waitress feel bad (which didn't work bc she did this weird pouty bashful thing anyways...she was young and prob new to this....I get it). So now I have two pretty awful drinks and my bf has one which no amount of extra limes could fix. The waitress must have told her manager about the situation bc he came up with two more fresh drinks and confirmed my suspicions by explaining that the tonic was just out. That's cool....thanks a lot! Except not....bc the manager also said....quoted exactly...blah blah blah tonic is out....."so here is a couple of new drinks on the house but there's not much vodka in them so they're going to be weak". What?????? So did he just bring us over drinks to prove that the tonic was working again? Idk......that just rubbed me the wrong way. So I now have three drinks in my face and my bf has two. Let me get to the fireball situation now. I am a fireball fanatic! Love it and drink it like its goin outta style. We asked for two chilled shots. And if its not already chilled then I know it has to be shaken w ice so its going to be slightly watered down. Like I said....I was a bartender for four years......I get it. But these shots were soooooo awful. It was so extremely watered down that it tasted like they might be padding their bottles with water at the end of the night to make more money and to make their numbers look good. Sorry......but that didn't work on me. A zero rating for the drinks overall. The cherry on top was when we were asking for our check.....our server says "do you guys want this one?"......uhhhhhhh...........point is....we only ended up drinking two out of the five fake cocktails and had the two shots but were charged for everything but the two "on the house 'weak' drinks". Sweet. I would be interested incming back to try the food bc the menu looked good and as a vegetarian I love when restaurants have vegetarian options......but I will never order liquor from here again. read more
