I loved Yardbirds! It was great sitting outside on the patio area and people watching! And watching the cray cray rush hour traffic in Los Angeles - quite entertaining! The ambience has a cool vibe - where you can hang out for hours. I was there for Happy Hour menu - nice selections, good portions and reasonably priced. This place was so bomb. I like to try fried chicken all over LA and this place nailed it. There's an herby flavor , that's not over powering, to their crust. The batter is extremely crispy , buttermilk possibly. My boo loved the Mac n cheese so much the people next to us have us theirs too. I didn't care for how soft the pasta was, a little too cooked but the cheese sauce keeps you shoveling. I LOVED the Brussel sprouts. OMG OMG. Crispy and they have a sweet kick to them. I have previously reviewed this awesome place, but I have to say 3 years later, I have returned and the ambiance and service is phenomenal from the host to the server Tommy. This time we brought family to enjoy the great food and like always their chicken and waffles did not disappoint but we also tried the smoked ribs and they were melting in my mouth. Tommy made it an excellent experience for us. A must try is their Bacon Bourbon chocolate cake. So, I must first mention I hope Mr. Ross is enjoying retirement; he was so kind to my family and I as this Yardbird was the 1st place we ate at upon our relocation to Los Angeles. Now...onto my review during our experience at Christmas. It was fantastic! Khris was so kind and patient as we arrived late due to traffic. Our server Juan was excellent; both he and Khris treated my family and I as if we were the only guests, although clearly busy. The food was excellent as usual; as a matter of fact, a couple who parked next to us was choosing between YB and another restaurant and I told them as the youngins saying these days, "They don't miss!" They took my advice and had the fried chicken and gave me a thumbs up upon leaving. Yardbird at Christmas had a different meaning this year as our dog of 13 years, earned her wings and we were able to bring our other dog, age 11 in an effort to heal and comfort us all. Yardbird's ambiance and cool vibe was very needed as we were not so much in the Christmas spirit. This place always treats it's guests like family so if you're looking for a place to brunch, have cocktails, and/or eat-please give yourself (and others, if applicable) some self-care and enjoyment by experiencing Yardbird. Avoid. When I arrived, my dining partner was finishing a drink at the bar. It was small. He said he couldn't taste any alcohol. We should have left. The server who sat us asked if we wanted water. YES, please. I'd had a long, hot drive over. Waited. Waited several minutes until the server seated another couple and brought them water. Then 'our' server came up and asked if we wanted water. We should have left. I ordered the $35 burger. I love burgers and my expectations were pretty high. The burger wasn't made to order because it was two thin patties cooked to a crisp (I like mine RARE). The pork belly slab on it was good, but that was all. The truffle fries that came with it were Ore-Ida shoestring with a truffle oil spray, or that's what it tasted like. Our bottle of wine was sour. We got there early, but the dining area did not fill up in the 90 minutes we were there. We should have taken this as a sign and left. I had came here around lunchtime and it took me around 10-15 minutes to get seated, which isn't too bad. After a few minutes of hard and long thinking, I decided to the chicken and egg sandwich and mac and cheese (separate items). The chicken sandwich was amazing for every single bite. And for the mac and cheese... I was skeptical about the mac and cheese because not a lot of restaurants can make good mac and cheese. With that being said, I was surprised and happy when I realized that this mac and cheese had flavor. I would've been mad if it didn't because it was NOT cheap. I've been here before and loved this place, but this is the first time I've been post pandemic. They have changed their menu a little bit since then, but still have a lot of the same food options. We all loved our drinks. The drinks are all handcrafted and they came out surprisingly fast this time. When I came two years ago it took 30 minutes for a vodka soda. I am happy to say that is no longer an issue. The food was just amazing I got the short rib and honestly one of the best short ribs that I have had. My friends got the steak frites and they were good but I was happy with my short rib. My mom got the classic chicken and waffles and that is the staple of this place. It doesn't disappoint at all. The chicken was really solid and crispy. St. Louis ribs - just melts in your mouth. No need to even try hard to get it off the bone. Buttermilk biscuit - BEST biscuits I've ever had in my life. So good so buttery, just perfect. This is the one thing everyone should order as a starter no matter what. The butter is made in-house and it's just so creamy and buttery. JUST GET IT. Crispy Brussels - I loved it. I love Brussels sprouts. The best ones are the super crispy and a bit burnt ones and these fit the bill Southern street corn - I love corn so yeah pretty much I'm going to say I loved it. Parmesan fries - these were good as well. Fried Oreos - these were okay. I would skip this and try something else. Everything was just good. Service was great. Service was impeccable of course (Ryan with the man bun is ALWAYS top notch ) and the food was perfect...honestly it was PERFECT. Came here for a big birthday dinner and they sat us at a nice little private area at the back. The vibe of this restaurant is great and there is pretty cheap structure parking next to the restaurant. The food is of course super good and the service is great too, it's just a little pricey for everyday dining. I'd recommend coming here if you're celebrating something :) we were decently full and the bill came out to $45 per person. I'd definitely order the big plate if waffle and chicken, although pricey, that one thing can feed at least 3 people! We recently dined here and due to some unforeseen traffic challenges, we had limited time to eat and drink before thshow we had tickets for in the area. The manager seated us right away, the waiter quickly went over their menu, recommended some favorites or best sellers both in dishes and drinks and we received our drinks and food in time for us to get to the show on time. With the explosion of fried chicken spots in LA, I thought I started to get an idea of what good fried chicken is. But took Yardbird for me to realize how wrong I was. Yardbird is an amazing and hip spot next to the Beverly Grove that specializes in Southern food. Indoor looks nice but a reservation is recommended. We we're a wall in and sat outside, which overall was nice if you don't mind a view of the intersection near Ceders. Service was excellent as our server was very friendly and very Southern. For drinks, we had the Old Fashioned, which was infused with some bacon fat!, And the Southern Tea, which was refreshing. Then we had the biscuits and deviled eggs, both of which are delicious. One friend in our group who loves deviled eggs thought this would was of the best he had.
