I went here a few times during the World Cup to watch some games. They are short staffed and the staff are very unhappy and they make sure that you notice it. One speaker was blown and very staticky. The food would be ready very late but it was good for bar food. You had to go to bar to order food and drinks as they wouldn't really serve the inside tables. One Sunday it said that they open at 12PM but we were there for a while and they didn't open so we missed the beginning of one of the games. I got the feeling that it seems like they are going out of business so nobody really cares for their last days of the business there. Stopped in for a quick, Sunday night dinner; the place had music pumping and a small but enthusiastic crowd cheering on March Madness games. The bartender was loud and rambunctious, keeping his regulars amused. Megan greeted us at the door and let us pick our own table, then became our server. She was very friendly and took generally good care of us, though she did occasionally go MIA for a few minutes while caught up in conversations with regulars -- but in a casual place like this, no biggie. My wife ordered the Belmont Burger, which came with bacon, Gruyere cheese, onion marmalade and pickles (+ arugula and mayo that my wife deleted). The prime patty was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and had a clean, fresh taste, though it could have used a dash more seasoning. The toppings were all first rate, and the onion marmalade had a nice sweetness to it. Fresh cut fries were crispy and tasty, but also could have used more salt. For my part, I was in the mood for wings, extra crispy -- and that's exactly how they came. I liked that they were served dry, and that I could dip into the sauce on the side, a practice that keeps the wings as crispy as possible for as long as possible. I should also mention that the portion was very generous: 7 wings of good size for $15, which felt right. Rather than traditional Buffalo, I chose Spicy K-Chile Sauce and I enjoyed its nice balance between sweet & spice. But again, given that the wings were served dry, they would have benefited from getting a hit of salt right out of the fryer. All in all, a well-made, very tasty, straightforward meal in a fun environment. Had it been Friday or Saturday I would have enjoyed hanging at the bar and tossing back a few, but with a busy Monday morning on the horizon I decided to head home and make plans for next time. read more

The bartender working behind the bar literally wouldn't let me take my drink until I put my card down. He allowed everyone to drink on the open tab except me. I just moved to LA so I'm not sure if this was a race thing and he assumed I was trying to steal a drink or the bartenders choose who pays and who doesn't here. Then, when I went to close my tab for my one drink (since I'd had such a bad experience), the bartender charged me for a drink I didn't even order! I asked if they could do a house/well marg and he just walked away without answering me. He ended up charging me for specialty cocktail at $17.50 for a tiny, not well-made margarita. Sunday karaoke is a real LA experience at The Belmont. The people are genuinely beautiful, and there are full-on industry ringers in the order, but despite all that it's still a really good time. I came into The Belmont on La Cienega in Los Angeles on Monday night for the first game of the World Series, just trying to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time. Unfortunately, the bartender completely killed the vibe. He was rude, dismissive, and downright disrespectful not just to me, but to several other guests at the bar. As a professional bartender myself, I know what good service looks like, and this was the total opposite. His attitude and the way he talked back to people were completely uncalled for. This is such a fun dive spot in LA for good food, drinks, and ambiance (especially during Happy Hour). The hubby and I enjoyed a date night here and tried out a few dishes, including the beef and chicken sliders, the fries (SO good), and the Crunchwrap. The bartender was able to make me a delicious mocktail and we had great service from the staff and the cool security guard out from. To no surprise, parking isn't easy in this part of town, but there's always valet and local paid lots down the street. First, I ordered a Bloody Mary -- my first one ever. Plain, it tasted like battery acid mixed with fish water. Hoping to save it, I added a few things from their Bloody Mary "bar" -- just a stick of bacon, a celery stalk, and a couple olives. Somehow, it got even worse. When I told the waitress, she did kindly take it off the bill, which I appreciated. But she also made me feel like it was my fault, telling me, "That's what happens when you add all the fixings to it ." For the record, I tried it plain first -- and it was already undrinkable. Then I ordered the crab cake benedict. It looked fine, but about 20 minutes after eating it while I was chatting with my friends in the restaurant, I immediately got sick and had to run to the bathroom. I don't know if it was the kale or the crab, but something clearly wasn't right. (Answer: no.) the churro pretzel was also delish. Plus, any place that fills my wine glass up to the top is an automatic 10/10 in my book. It can get super packed depending on the time and the weather, but if you get here at the right time you can snag a booth or a spot on the outdoor patio. I do not often write reviews but I think I need to share what we just experienced. we always go to the Belmont and usually have a great meal, but today was the opposite. the water tasted like chemicals, and when we asked for a new one the waitress was clearly annoyed. we then ordered soda (and it was clearly off brand syrupy soda). which is fine but they should say that. but the kicker was when the plates came out dirty still, with food on them. when we flagged it with the waitress she was again irritated and didn't even offer any sort of apology. she then disappeared for a very long time. to top it all off there was a hair in my nacho, and when I flagged this to my group in front of the waitress she kind of blew me off. overall a really terrible experience (even the food was off tonight, the tacos were cold) and we definitely won't be back, which is a bummer. read more

We celebrated my husbands birthday at the Belmont on Saturday night and the whole party was so perfect. The food and service is always amazing here and it was on Saturday as well. Laura was our server for our party of 20 ppl. She was so excellent and so nice. So much so that she even applied one of the temporary tattoos we had made for the party! Jina the executive chef was so communicative and all her responses to the party planning were fast. They started playing 2010s EDM at 9pm so there was a vibe change but it was still chill overall. We were visiting my son and were looking for a quick bite. The Belmont is just around the corner and we have walked past it at least 20 times. It is usually packed and the sounds of people having a good time are always there. Since we just wanted a quick bite, we stopped in and ordered their Pulled Pork Nachos, to go. The hostess was right on it. Got the order placed and asked if we wanted a drink while we waited. It did not take very long for our order to be brought out. We paid for it and were on our way. When we got home, the smells coming from the bag were too hard to resist. The portion of pork that was on the nachos was very generous and tasted fantastic. We almost could not finish it, but because it tasted so great, we couldn't resist. After finishing, we vowed to definitely return on our next visit to my sons place. read more

I bombed a job interview a few buildings away, and since I passed The Belmont, I figured I might as well stop in since I was in the area with a decent parking spot. There were a lot of appealing things on the menu- happy hour and regular-so it was semi-difficult narrowing things down. Finally, it was between the 3 sliders and Spicy Chicken Mac & Cheese...I went with the latter, minus the spicy (chili sauce). There isn't any bread served so when this arrived sooner than expected, I was grateful. The portion size was more than adequate, and I have to say I really enjoyed their version of Mac & cheese. There wasn't a lot of crispy chicken (and I would actually consider omitting this on a future visit) but the three cheese blend just worked. I always enjoy scallions, and there weren't too many of them, just enough to add a little more flavor. I had enough leftover to enjoy for lunch the following day. Service was fine, not overbearing or intrusive, no complaints. I went when only a few customers were there and I was solo at the bar for the most part, so I wonder if things would be different had it been more busy. Loved our time with The Belmont!! We attended a private party (about 60-70ppl) there last weekend and truly enjoyed the food and ambiance. It is truly well decorated, love the atmosphere. My favorite items on the menu include the ahi tuna tacos, truffle tots, pulled pork nachos, brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. For a large party, I was truly amazed by how quickly food orders were rolling out. Food and drinks were all ordered at the bar with our amazing, super star bartender, Meghan. She took food orders and made our drinks delicious and effortlessly without any mistakes, all while carrying a smile on her face. Many from our group were ordering a Mexican mule and raved about how well they were made. Cheers! I'm not local to the area but next time I'm visiting, I will be back to enjoy a sit down meal and look forward to those delicious ahi tuna tacos paired with a cold drink. read more
