The shredded chicken was tender and generously portioned, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly with a rich, jammy yolk. A friend ordered the Spicy Tan Tan, and I tried a few bites. Flavor-wise, it was excellent -- rich, bold, and deeply savory -- but it was extremely spicy. Definitely delicious, just something to be aware of if you're sensitive to heat. We also shared a hand roll, which was a great addition. Fresh, well made, and nicely balanced, with good quality fish and seasoned rice. A solid bite to have alongside the ramen. Overall, everything was filling and genuinely delicious. Ingredients tasted fresh, portions were generous, and the flavors were thoughtfully done. Our server Naomi was a true delight for lunch this past Friday. She was efficient and super nice. It was our first time trying the ramen at Daijobu, and it is stellar! We had the spicy miso ramen that sported a lot of chicken and a delicious broth. Very bold yet balanced flavors. As for the three hand roll set that we ordered we found out we are not real fans of hand rolls. I should have looked up what makes a hand roll a hand roll. (It's the nori, the seaweed wrapper, that sets it apart in the world of sushi.) The salmon, yellowfin tuna, and crab were so fresh that they tasted fishy to us. Again, I believe it's user error that this dish didn't fly with us. We used the soy sauce mixed with wasabi to disguise the fishy taste. Lesson learned. read more

I had the opportunity to try this place for a birthday dinner, it's a small place but the atmosphere it's very nice and the service was great, our server Kali was very attentive and sweet, kudos to her. We had a few appetizers to start Menchi Katsu which was so good, i don't eat raw fish but i had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and i will say i was impressed with the flavor it was very good, also we had the spicy tako wasabi that was not that very impressive but it was good. For the main course I had the spicy tan tan which was good, not the best one i ever had i think for the price i was expecting more, my friend told got the #5 hand rolls of the which i tried the crab and it was good as well. We had both desserts the black sesame creme brûlée and the yuzu lemon sorbet both were so good, on the smaller portions tho. Since I was seated at the bar, my hand rolls were served individually as they were made and they were all delicious! The ramen broth was creamy, filled with flavor and had the perfect amount of spice. They will give you spice to add on the side if requested but I found that it wasn't needed! The ambiance is nice. It is a smaller restaurant and has dimmer lighting (which I personally like). The ramen portions are hearty, which is also a plus. I'm knocking a star off because of a couple of things: 1) The noodle to broth ratio is just off. There needs to be 25% more broth. 2) I just don't think chicken belongs in ramen. It's not traditional and pork tastes much better. I enjoyed the Tonkatsu ramen more than the spicy miso because the broth was a little thinner. Very quiet and intimate setting downtown Raleigh. The Handrolls were delicious starters, our favorite was the Yellowtail. We enjoyed the Tonkotso Ramen and the Spicy Tan Tan which was properly spicy! This is Raleigh's most underrated gem. Although I kind of hope it stays that way so I can always get a table by walking in, it's just too good to keep secret. Came here on a Tuesday night for a hot bowl of ramen and some handrolls. My favorite handroll bars are in NYC and it's been a few months since I've traveled and I was desperately craving them. I googled to see if there were any handrolls nearby in the RDU area and I was surprised to find Daijobu. It looked to be pretty new with not that many reviews so I was a little skeptical. We were seated promptly and the inside of the restaurant is smaller but very nice. The service was great and the food came out quickly. We got the menchi katsu to start and it was fried perfectly and the katsu sauce was delicious. I went for the 4 handroll set and was blown away. The fish was incredibly fresh and tasty. I love the crispy seaweed paper and the scallop and crab were my favorite of all the handrolls. We also wanted to try their ramen so we got the daijobu tonkatsu and considering it started blizzarding outside, it was just what we needed. The broth was an umami bomb--garlic, salt, savory, very rich and tasty. The chasu was cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth. The soft boiled egg, mushrooms and veggies were a welcome addition and the noodles had the perfect bite and chew to them. Safe to say, I've found my new favorite restaurant and handroll spot that I won't have to take a flight to get to! The prices are also pretty decent for the outstanding quality you get. This is now our new favorite ramen place in Raleigh and perhaps NC. Usually we would drive all the way to Charlotte for Menya ramen, but this place is even better. The chasu is sliced thin. The broth is rich and creamy, but not too oily. The noodles have the perfect texture and cling to the broth nicely. The tonkotsu also has menma which is fermented bamboo shoots and completed the dish as a whole. Lastly, the egg was nicely marinated but not too sweet (which I prefer). Overall, their tonkotsu ramen is definitely a proper ramen and despite their name being "Daijobu," which means "it's okay," I think this place is quite beyond with both the food and atmosphere. read more
