Sandwich was really good. It had bacon on it and I haven't had a piece of bacon in a year or more so it felt weird to me. Maybe I overlooked where the sandwich came with bacon. The fries had a freezer burn taste to them and the batter on the Parmesan chicken was moist and slid off as if it was oven baked from frozen. This place seems to go downhill every time I go. First of all, it's just nasty, floors sticky, tables dirty, and don't look up, it that mold on the ceiling or just more dirt? Next, I order a grilled cheese sandwich, supposed to have 2 types/slices of cheese, it had 1 piece of American cheese folded over, I could tell because it wasn't even melted. The bread was burned but the cheese not melted?! How can that happen? Dry, no butter on the bread, no mayo inside. Pitiful. I know this place has been around for years and is a well-known Seneca restaurant, but I was very unimpressed with the quality of the food, and the place was kind of Grimey. I cannot recommend this place however, the ice cream next-door is very good, If you can get someone to wait on you within 15 minutes of standing around and waiting. Just another Seneca spot that could be awesome if they invested some money in the place and cleaned it up and remodeled it and got a little better menu and little better service. It's right on the corner of downtown where all the action is doesn't take too many brains to figure out how they could improve this place, and really make it a great spot which Seneca so desperately needs. read more

I think this place has improved since the last reviews because our experiences were excellent. We had the Reuben and a patty melt with onion rings and fries. Both sandwiches were awesome. Hot, fresh, and quick! The fries and rings weren't even the slightest bit soggy - so crispy! The sodas were cold and fizzy. Our second trip I had the tuna salad croissant with bacon and my fiancé had the Buffalo chicken. Awesome. No complaints at all. They may be understaffed but our server, who we had both times, was so kind and attentive. So many refills and was over to make sure the food was good multiple times. It's one of my favorite places to grab a quick and affordable lunch. Prices cannot be beat. The ice cream shop next door is adorable and baked goods are delicious also. I have enjoyed the meals at this establishment for years now but today I thought I would offer my comments, review, and compliments. I've tried many things on the menu and I've enjoyed every one. However, just a couple of weeks ago I tried the fish and chips. Awesome! The portion size was large and the fish tasted great! I also want to say kudos to my waitress whose name was Kim. She has worked there ever since I've been visiting, and she gave great service and had a very good personality. Let me start off by saying that we love this place and drive almost an hour to eat here every Friday night. However, here lately they have decided to close whenever they feel like going home. Tonight we got there at 7:15 and at 7:20 the lady told us that the kitchen was closed for the night and that they close at 7:45. The open sign was still on and their posted hours say that they are open till 8:00. They turned us away along with another family and as well as a couple who came in as we were walking out. Everyone ended up walking across the street to Mayberry's to eat and they were more than happy to invite everyone in for dinner. As much as we love eating at "Our Spot" every Friday night, we may have to give our business to another restaurant who will not turn their customers away because they don't feel like working or can't seem to stay open to the posted hours. Whatever the case may be, they are turning away business which over time could lead to no business at all. Very disappointing indeed. As I mentioned in the beginning, we love this place and I would give it 5 stars, but at this point I can not. read more

Over all, I wouldn't mind eating at this restaurant again if that was the crowd favorite among a group of my friends, but I wouldn't seek it out otherwise. I ate there for lunch in the midafternoon. I was seated immediately, which was nice. The dining room had no ambience and smelled like play-dough in my opinion, though that's just my opinion. The booths were a mix of various booths dating back to the 1970's from the look of them. It was poorly lit and was in urgent need of redecorating or at least better lighting. As a result of the lighting and the old interior, the restaurant felt as if it wasn't well cleaned, even though I could tell that it was clean and our server had been dust-sweeping the floor when we arrived. I was impressed by the wide variety of food offered in their menu, and liked seeing exotic sandwiches like "The Mexican Burger" and their various chicken sandwiches as an example. But I did not like how long it took for before they brought out Mom's order and mine. I ordered their specialty chicken sandwich, which was basically a like a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with grilled chicken instead of sliced roast beef. It was not the best sandwich I've ever eaten; but I still liked the taste and wouldn't mind ordering it again. Mom and I were each given the option for a free sample of fudge from The Fudge Factory (a fudge shop that adjoins Ye Olde Sandwich Shoppe and has the same owner as the Shoppe). The fudge itself was actually very good, a tad sweet, but delicious just the same. Overall, Ye Olde Sandwich Shoppe seemed to put effort into food quality. But little else. I'm along time Seneca resident who has enjoyed many happy hours here. Their sour cream and chive fries are great and the spinach artichoke quesadilla is delicious. me and my friends used it as our favorite meeting place for lunch or mom's nights out. HOWEVER. I am heartbroken to see how run down it has become in the last year! It's like no one cares anymore! The place is dirty, the staff is super slow, and where it once was the place to go to eat, the dining room is sadly empty. A great restaurant allowed to go DOWNHILL. WHY?!?! So sad! All the other places downtown are snooty upscale places at twice the price for half the food! I'll miss this favored gathering place, as it is evident they'll be closing their doors soon. Stumbled across this place. Wish we hadn't. Service was terrible! Slower than I've ever experienced anywhere. Food was acceptable but not worthy of a second trip. I had the Hackensack sandwich. Dry meats and little flavor but the bun was very fresh and soft. My daughter had the Grecian beef gyro. She said it was ok. My older daughter had the angel hair pasta with meatballs. She said it was ok "not the worst". My wife had the steak spinach salad. The steak was cube steak. Disappointing to say the least. Next door is the fudge factory and ice cream shop, can't think of a better duo for restaurants in Seneca than this place. We were traveling in the area while camping and were craving a local hang and am SO glad we found this amazing restaurant! The menu has everything and the prices are amazingly reasonable. We had the Sour Cream and Chives fries, the Strawberry Stack, and the Western Pita Burger. Yummy!!! Paige was our server and she was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great service. I saw one lady walk out because if no service when she came in. While waiting on my food I witnessed a customer help himself and get his own ice cream. The food, with the exception of the fries and a tomato butt, was good. Our friend loved the Cajun catfish Sammie. Service was slow and lowsy. I requested ranch dressing 3 times and never got it. Our waters ran out prior to receiving our food and seeing this the waitress asked if we needed drinks. Well duh! She was too interested in her basketball boyfriend. Afterwards we got ice cream and my husband's scoop was half the size of everyone else's and the cone was stale. We were over charged for a catfish sandwich. I was charged $1.75 for a grand total of 15 fries. And the icing on the cake was when a customer brought their freaking beagle into the place.
