Even the veggies were bad and had weird textures. I know Slidell isn't the best place to get Chinese but anywhere else would have been better. The place was filthy, the waitstaff was super rude and also filthy, even the dishes were filthy. Hate to pan a local restaurant but this was such a disappointment! Had a craving for Chinese so I ordered take out from Yee. Got home, starving, and couldn't wait to dig in! Food was just awful! Hot and Sour soup was neither hot nor sour and the consistency was like thick gravy. Pork egg foo yung was inedible. The pork chunks were so hard, they must have been cooked days ago! The "special" Four Seasons had one previously frozen shrimp, pork and beef too tough to chew and indistinguishable from each other. The garlic chicken was tolerable. I was so hungry and so looking forward to my meal and having leftovers - it ALL went into the trash! I did eat the fortune cookie though! I ordered take out Chinese food tonight and the young girl who answered the phone and worked the front desk was so incredibly rude to me. I placed my ordered and after I hung up I thought I heard her confirm it as Mandarin chicken which was not what I ordered. I've been going here for over 35 years. The waitstaff is normally great, but they recently hired an older blonde haired lady. We went for dinner on Monday and my husband orders his normal and I order Crawfish Chop Suey. His comes out first, and mine a few moments later. I eat my eggroll and begin eating my vegetables. As I'm eating my dinner, I notice there's no crawfish in the dish. There's pork! I NEVER order pork! So, we call the blonde waitress over and I tell her that I'm not sure what this is, but it's not crawfish chop suey. Since I'd eaten a couple veggies before I noticed it, I joked with her that it's tasty whatever it is. She replied that I'd ordered Pork Chop Suey. I explained that I ordered Crawfish Chop Suey and I was 2000% certain of what I ordered. She shows me her note tablet and says "No, you ordered Pork, I wrote it down." I politely advise her that I'm not sure why she wrote that down, but I KNOW what I ordered. She did nothing, I didn't eat the disgusting pork dish and we paid for both dishes. She never even tried to bring my correct dish out. I told my husband that they probably have to pay for incorrect orders, so that's why she made no attempt to bring me my correct dish. My husband ate his dinner and we had to go somewhere else for me to get dinner after we left Yee. It was a horrible experience and makes me no longer want to go back. We've gone here many times a month in the last 35 years, but I do not want to go back as long as that new, blonde inconsiderate waitress is there. read more

It was good! We had the hot and sour soup, sesame chicken, egg rolls, and spring rolls. The hot and sour soup is the best I've had in a long time! It had lots of chicken and goodies in it. There is an upcharge for white meat chicken entrees. It was all delicious. The portions are large. If you're a fan of Koi & Bruce's, I think you'll like this. Presentation was so familiar that I had to ask if the owners know each other. Our server confirmed that Bruce's is a brother of the Yee owner and Koi owner is a brother-in-law to the Yee owner. That's one good food family! I hope that your experience is as good as ours was. It's not fancy (at all). It's just a laid back place to grab a good Chinese meal quickly. Huge portions and high quality meats and sides. Special shout out to the for the hot and sour soup. Only the lo-mein was average. I've been deprived of good Chinese food since moving to Dallas two years ago. And even though I grew up in Slidell, I have only eaten at Yee Chinese a couple of times. I didn't appreciate how much of a gem this place is until my last trip home and I could not be happier! First off, the egg rolls and crab rangoon were HUGE. In this case, bigger is better. We ordered the lemon chicken (surprisingly refreshing), the wonton soup, Mongolian beef, shrimp and broccoli, combo fried rice, and a lo mein (and maybe another dish, I can't remember) - all delicious! We had so much food left over that we ate it for lunch the next day, which heated up nicely. Service was tops despite it being a busy time! I will be sure to get my Chinese fix every time I go home. read more

I loved that they have the option or white meat or dark meat chicken. It is thick juicy prices of meat and very tender. Coming from Southern California where the mecca Chinese restaurants are, I was very curious to try Yee Chinese in Louisiana. Let me tell you, after Hurricane Katrina, the family that owns this place did wonders to restore it back and start serving the community again (a story I was told when I got there). When I came in, I was very much welcomed with smiling faces and was treated like family. Since I was a tourist and I think they mainly serve locals, they were happy to see me and made me "Off-menu" type foods and some Slidell favorites. My favorite dish was probably the steamed fish with fresh ginger and scallions in a soy based sauce. It was delicious! I don't know if they have this on their menu now - but if not, they should! I'm just sorry I didn't get to take a picture of it to post. If I ever go back there again, my first stop will be at Yee Chinese! read more

Nasty. First ate here in the 70's. Had great soup at the time I thought. Ate here in Feb 2012 with my wife for old time fond memories. Had Pork Egg Foo Yun. The skinny: Wonton soup included was OK, but a little watery, noodle only, old fat fried noodles (the taste of old soybean oil type) accompanied with commercial red sweet & sour sauce, no duck sauce. Egg Foo Yun, cooked in dirty grease or wok. Two pancake size served on cheap tasteless "fried" rice. Sauce? Well, a gravy. Literally, a canned cheap brown gravy they didn't even bother to trick up. My wife, stir-fired shrimp vegetable something. Literally, same gravy. Lots of carrots, bok choy, cabbage. It amazes me how some people can serve stuff like this & still be in biz. Did find out, not original owners from when I was living in town in the 70's. Pass on this one. read more

In town just for the night & my family wanted some good Chinese food for dinner. Went on Yelp & found this place. Reviews seemed good so off we went. Not going to lie we drove up & the parking lot was empty so we were worried it wasn't going to be a good meal. Shortly after we sat down more customers began to come in. Our food came (forgot to take a pic, sorry) and the portions were huge! Food was fabulous! So glad we didn't leave. Especially loved the customer service. As we were eating some regular customers came in the staff greeted them as they were family. It's definitely a place we will revisit. read more

if you're expecting less than grocery store frozen dinner quality with a touch of microwave and spoil with rubbery vegetables and chewy meat flavored gum ( or a mystery substance) that your dog's won't even eat at a ridiculously high cost than this is just the place for you!! who wants clean dishes, clean tables, clean anything when you can play "try to figure out what the dry food is that was left on the plate from the night before"! how much fun! or maybe you'll like the waitresses that are more likely to spit in your food than apologize for anything! if you're lucky you'll even leave here with a surprise gift in the form of diarrhea and cramps! seriously dont eat here! no quality food here at all! the only thing chinese in the restaurant is probably the drywall and the cheap made in china decor. waitstaff are rude. dirty dishes and tables. and if the dining area is dirty i can only imagine how the kitchen is. food is microwaved and old. nothing made to order!everything is overpriced and they charge for everything. if you order something that is supposed to have sauce you will pay extra. you're paying the price of real restaurant quality food but you are getting some of the worst drive through buffet style take out food. my dogs wouldn't even eat the leftovers. It's really unbelievable how bad this was. No one in my group had anything good to say about any of the food and we all felt sick afterwards. Panda express drive thru would have been a way better choice. I don't understand how this place has any good reviews. the only reason I came here was because I was duped by all the positive reviews.
