Best Mandarin chicken since Mai Thai that used to be in New Orleans East off of Crowder. I love that you have the option of white or dark meat, the portions are large for a very reasonable price and the service is always down to earth. Service is prompt and refills are always on time. I have loved Yee Chinese ever since I was a child. I live near Baton Rouge now and there is nothing here that comes close to the quality and quantity you get at Yee's. When I go to Slidell to visit family, my last stop is Yee's to bring back home, or we dine in. I love everything about Yee's. I've noticed on Yelp some low scores ,but I think these people don't understand the true grit that is Yee's . They treat everyone who walks in like family. Yes I can see how more sensitive people could feel offended ,but come on , let their food speak. You will be with that longer than a conversation . Plus who has EVER had a pleasant time ordering Chinese food over the phone anywhere lol. The Staff and Owners are hard working and sweet people. The crab rangoons were mostly empty. The general tso tasted like sweet and sour chicken. The hot and sour soup was delicious. The lo mein was dry and made with spaghetti instead of lo mein noodles...the fried rice was dry....so disappointed! read more

My quest for the best cashew chicken may have ended with this restaurant. Service was smiling and professional -- but the kitchen wins the day. Their rendition of my favorite dish was spectacular. It contained a combination of vegetables that I did not expect in and outstanding sauce. They ask if you want white- or dark-meat chicken which is something else unique to Yee. The locals and other reviewers convinced me to try this fine place and now it goes on my "next visit" list for sure. I hadn't been to Yee Chinese in a few months. I went in and was pleasantly surprised by an update in the decor. Very pleasant atmosphere! My husband was the first to mention what I had already noticed, a change in the food also. My husband mentioned that the brown sauce on his food was much better than it had been before. Richer, darker, better tasting. Subtle changes that made the food that much better. If you haven't been to Yee in a while, go try it again. If you've never been there before, I highly recommend it. It's was the absolute worst meal I've ever had. The egg drop soup was burnt. The only difference between the general Cho chicken and sesame chicken were the sesame seeds. I don't understand all the positive reviews. I agree that this may be the best Chinese restaurant in Slidell but sadly there doesn't seem to be a good Chinese restaurant in Slidell. Last and only time I went my wife had the pot stickers and they tasted bad we also had chicken fried rice and I had mandarin chicken. The mandarin chicken was ok and the fried rice tasted funny and left an odd aftertaste in both our mouths. So far the best Chinese food in Slidell for us so far was from the freezer section in Walmart. read more

I have eaten at Yee's for 20 plus years, but for the past year it has been pretty awful. The food is completely inconsistent. It takes an average of 5 to 10 minutes on hold to place a take out order. I got the chicken lo mein the other day and it was disgusting. Not ok, disgusting. The chicken had a funny smell and flavor like it was old chicken rinsed to try to hide the smell. I spit out the chicken for fear I would get sick. I have cooked in many kitchens and that was not a normal taste. The Yee egg roll was great. The egg drop is still the best around, but something isnt right there anymore. Ive been highly disappointed the last 3 times and its the only chinese place I will eat in Slidell. Its a shame. I hope the meals get better or Im going to have to go to New Orleans or Mandeville to get some chinese. read more

Decided to try this place based on reviews as well as a recommendation from a friend. Staying the area temporarily and wanted Chinese food. Being originally from Texas and eating some good Chinese food from Houston, Texas I was very, very disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered two entrees...Hunan beef and chicken with broccoli which both were healthy portions but the actual taste and flavor were severely lacking. The Hunan beef had chewy fat pieces of beef and the brown sauce was like a brown gravy that you buy prepackaged at the grocery store. It wasn't spicy and the vegetables were so soggy because of the amount of sauce that drowned the entree. I am very picky about fried rice so I rarely order it and always get steamed but I decided to try the fried rice and it was a huge let down. The random pieces of meat in the rice were not only a turn off but dry as well. What happened to the days where fried rice consisted of fried rice, carrots, peas, onions and eggs? Those days must still be in Texas. The other entree, chicken and broccoli was also overly sauced with a bland sauce with the consistency of a bad jelly like roux gone bad (think bad gumbo) and tough chicken...which was an up-charge because we requested all white meat. So I always gauge a good Chinese restaurant based on the type of chicken they use as well as the quality of beef and fried rice and all three were severely lacking. I gave this place two stars because the staff was friendly and the steamed rice and egg rolls were decent. I can honestly say that I will not return here and my quest for Chinese will continue while I am in the area. read more
