    Salmon teppanyaki
    Meredith R.

My daughter, an international traveler and foodie, is not all that impressed with Wagamama. I was initially surprised, but returning a second time with a friend, I have to believe there are better places for ramen. My chicken ramen was okay. (I want to be able to describe food as "great.") The broth was a little weak and not enough of it. A good amount of chicken, though. My friend's salmon teppanyaki -- with soba noodles, broccolini, slices of chili and asparagus -- was a better choice. I like the bright and open set-up of this restaurant (though I never want to sit on one of their backless benches.) It's a popular place and likely Americanized appealing to their clientele. While I don't mind returning, I said to my friend who recently moved to the neighborhood, "we've got to try other places!" We'll see.

Right next to Orange theory at the corner of 3rd and E39th. Plenty of seating in a variety of ways - bar - two person booths, 4 person booths, high tables, long tables so bring a date or a crowd. Yes it's a chain but the menu is fresh and the food is consistently good. Happy hour bar menu is available at the tables. Also.... Get the crispy cauliflower... you won't regret it. The miso cod was light and flakey, the soba noodles savory, and the others at my table enjoyed thier udon and duck ramen. They often have a prix fix as well - 30 dollars in restaurant month and 38 for valentines.

I came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening with a group of three. They have a large outdoor seating area, but we opted to sit indoors. The restaurant is spacious with high ceilings. They had a fantastic NYC Restaurant Week deal. $30 for appetizer, entree, and dessert, with an option to add a drink for $10. To start, I had the bang bang cauliflower. Loved this dish. The cauliflower were batter fried and quite crispy. They were topped with onions and chili peppers. Very flavorful, with a hint of spice, but not too much heat. For my main, I had the avant gard'n. The seitan was delicious. It was surprisingly savory and meaty. The sauce was slightly sweet and nicely coated the rice. The veggies were crisp and fresh. For dessert, I had the banana katsu. The banana was coated in a thick, crunchy batter. Its flavor was subtle, while the salted caramel ice cream was quite sweet, so they paired perfectly together. Our appetizers and mains came out around the same time, so we were able to eat both dishes together, which was quite nice. Service was fast and our waiter was very efficient. I'd love to come back to try the regular menu!

Went to this place with 2 of my cousins. We were welcomed by a host and loved the design of this low profile from the outside but looks fancy in the inside but it's actually a casual restaurant. I was so excited to try the menu and seeing how multiculturally curated it looked. The ahi tuna nachos was a great app and glad it didn't have too much of peanut sauce that makes u get palate fatigue. I also liked the bang bang cauliflower. Loved the crunchiness . I got the chili chicken ramen since it was a very very cold NYC evening and needed a hot slurp. I also liked it but i feel like we can up the flavor a bit more. I want to come back and try their ube expresso martini! Service is also bomb and they deserve a raise for their exceptional service!

Soon as we sat down the lady next to us was complaining to a manager. Not off to a great start. Our calamari arrived barely warm and extremely salty. Some pieces warm others were room temperature. Our waiter never checked back so it was too late to get a fresh order. We did not finish it. The Pad Thai was gross, no flavor and extremely greasy with very tiny pieces of chicken. A very unpleasant experience. This was my first time to Wagamama USA and my last!

Holy cow - the Thai chili margaritas were to die for! This might be my favorite margarita variant I've had in NYC. The rim has a delicious cinnamon salt rim that expertly compliments the hint of coconut in the drink. 5/5 pitcher! Additionally, I wasn't starving so I had the bar sliders and they were very tasty. If you work in Midtown East area, this a great place to grab a bite for lunch or a drink after work.

Restaurant was very clean and could see us immediately. Food is always consistent and delicious! I highly recommend the chicken teriyaki dish.

Had such a great experience. The food was and tasted amazing. Our waitress was constantly checking up on us so the service was A1. This is def a place to gather with friends or family.

I have dined at Wagamama's several times over the years, but this was my first time at this location. As I walked in, I loved their dining area appearance, was so stunning, with modern furnish, large windows, full of sunlight. Their menu was same as other locations. We ordered bunch of items like duck and karaage chicken baos, calamari, edamame, bang bang cauliflower and the duck ramen. Food came out at decent pace. Most of the items were good, the baos and edamame specially. Duck ramen never misses, their best dish. But the cauliflower didn't taste good. The chicken in daughter's kids meal was also dry. The service was excellent. They gave coloring paper and crayons to the kids. We got few drinks that were well made. Overall we had a wonderful lunch at this location.

Trekked into the city and wanted to try wagamama. My kiddo and I love our ramen and other Asian fare so we decided to give it a go. This place was hopping, and it is clear that it is a popular choice for lunch. I love that they have a kids menu, and for the adults they have several options for a lunch special that includes a main and your choice of a fresh juice. I opted for the green juice (nourish-mint) which is apple, mint and lemon. My main was the avant Gard-in. My son got the kids ramen with chicken broth. One thing that annoyed me - I asked my son what drink he wanted to share, he said the nourish-mint. When my drink came, the waiter gave us two green drinks. I would not have paid $8 for a second drink - and really, the waiter should have clarified when I was speaking with my son whether that meant I wanted two. Remember - my drink was included with the lunch special. I mentioned something to the waiter, asking why there was two and he wasn't exactly friendly.... I do love the open concept kitchen and having a table near that, always so interesting to me and makes me feel more comfortable dining in an establishment where you can kinda see what's going on. I thought my dish was just o.k., nothing amazing. I would definitely try something different next time. My son loved his though, and I will say - even though that extra drink was $8 it was sooo refreshing and delicious, though a bit sweet. My son LOVED that drink as well. When the bill came, you can swipe your card at the table. Of course, the default tip is 20% and I always find it a bit awkward that the waiter/waitress is looking right at you when you leave your tip amount. I would give this place more of a 3.5, but my son insisted on bumping it to a 4. I'd probably come back, especially for the lunch special. $20 is a decent deal in the city for a meal and a drink.

Visited friends in the neighborhood and decided to pop in for lunch. I have been to a different location so I know it won't disappoint. The place is vibrant and chic. Very relaxing vibe. Big space. Hooks close by for your coat and bags. The staff is wonderful. We had a big order and everything came out on time and delicious. I had duck ramen. Love the meat just peel off the bone. The broth is rich, it has a hint of sesame seeds. I like it but if you are allergic to that make sure to check with the staff.

I must say I really enjoyed myself here . I always walk past this place but today we decided to ... not ! The staff were so friendly and our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and kind . The food was delicious. Besides the fact the place was freezing, I think I would come back here - 4 stars because even though they moved our seats to a window where there was sun ... it was still freezing in there !

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

There is also bar seating. It's a bit tricky figuring out what to do with your coats since the chairs aren't really meant to hang winter coats on, but there is a clothing rack in the back that someone can help you with. Everything is ordered via your phone using Toast Tab which was convenient since you didn't have to wait for your server. There was also happy hour when we arrived (6:15pm) so we ordered two hand rolls ($5 each). We ordered the chirashi bowl and the shoyu ramen. I thought the portion sizes were good and I loved the texture of the noodles in the ramen as well as my selection of fish. For dessert, we ordered the hojicha pudding which was delicious as well.

We were guided toward the back, past white marble tables with beautiful mustard colored velvet chairs to the long countertop facing the open kitchen. We scanned QR codes to pull up the menu, and despite no omakase noodle offerings to be found, decided to stay because the menu options they did have sounded too good to pass up. Of course they had classic shio and miso ramens, but they also had a duck tsukumen, a red snapper ramen, a black truffle ramen, and the dish I set my sights on-- the uni mazemen. There were also lots of appetizers and a long list of high end onigiri featuring proteins like scallop lemon shio, A5 wagyu ponzu, and bluefin chutoro on offer. This place was the real deal. Our group shared the tebasaki wings-- so crispy and so flavorful, I could have inhaled a whole plate of these. The salmon, ikura, and apple appetizer that was served in a glass chalice was superb but even better was the bluefin tuna avocado sashimi with wasabi. That one was a winner across the board. And then my uni mazemen, which really stole the show. There was a very generous portion of uni that mixed with the savory sauce and al dente ramen noodles perfectly. This dish was rich, unctuous, and fresh and definitely delivered in value, though it was double the price of most other noodle bowls. Uni is a delicacy. Having just returned from a second trip to Japan I can say this place is really as good as any restaurant I visited in Japan, and it's right here in Murray Hill. These Murray Hill bros are lucky.
