I'm not a lover of kosher sushi but my job orders from here since it's one of the only kosher spots in the area. Honestly, I was very impressed with the quality! The sushi was great and they don't put too much rice so you can actually taste the fish, which if you're wondering, is very fresh. You can also taste the "spicy" in their spicy salmon and tuna rolls, which often times don't taste spicy but just more mayo-y. I'm a fan! read more

Craving sushi so I decided to try this spot out. I ordered online directly from their website. Got 3 rolls: hamachi, spicy tuna, peppered salmon. About $18 with tax. When I got there, there were about 4 people waiting to order or pick up food and the guys behind the counter were working fast! Had lunch from Cafe 11 today.... The Avocado Salad was decent. Made up of chopped romaine, avocado, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes and tossed in a creamy caesar. The veggies were all fresh, and there was a nice hearty helping of avocado...but the caesar made the salad heavy. Probably would have been just as good w/ a nice light vinaigrette. Also had half of the Feta Sandwich. While the name does indicate that its a cheese sandwich... it may have actually had too much cheese on it. Whattt? Too much cheese? Yup, its possible - especially with a tangy cheese like feta. I like the combo though - feta, romain, cucumber, red onion and black olives. I took some my avocado salad and added it to the sandwich too - which helped even out all that feta a bit. For my money I would have loved to add a chicken cutlet to the sandwich...but this spot is Kosher. So no meat/cheese combos here. read more

I seem to find myself working at a client downtown, right near this takeout again. They seem to have gotten their long lines to a science and it moves rather quickly when there is one. Seems the best way is to order online and pick it up. That's why the line moves. For me, I never know when I can go grab a bite, so they prepare my order rather quickly. The food is great. Don't let the store front fool you - the place looks small and unassuming, but makes pretty incredible rolls, especially at this price point. I love this place !!! I order lunch from here the past four months and I I've never been disappointed. The sushi is amazingly fresh. The salmon and tuna is extremely delicious and fresh. The avocado melt is a huge in my office! Delivery can take up to 30 min at times but it's certainly worth the wait. I stayed away from this place for the first year or so I worked in the building, under the assumption that an old-fashioned place inside our lobby couldn't be very good. Instead, winter, spring, summer and fall, I wandered around every noon time to gather up pizza, sushi, falafel and sandwiches from up and down Broadway. But I've found out in the past six weeks that Café 11 is a perfectly reasonable lunch destination. The Kosher situation (in deference to the many Orthodox workers on the building's lower floors) means that the menu is a bit limited. There's no reason to order a sandwich if your tastes don't run towards the tuna, egg and mayo end of the spectrum. The salads have never really had much appeal - they don't chop them here, which is my preferred way of eating these greens. That leaves the surprisingly varied and generally solid sushi. The sushi bar is right behind the counter, and you can see the chefs working with nice pieces of fish. The online ordering system means that I frequently have my rolls ready to go and paid for when coming down from the 18th floor. The two roll special is a somewhat glutinous lunch, but it's more than enough to power through the seven hour afternoon that separates my noonday meal from the evening feast. Whether it's salmon, tuna, fake crab or the strange hybrid combination that is the sushi pizza, this is a dependable lunch option which doesn't require putting on a coat. read more

I have been coming to cafe 11 for a number of years now but only getting around to writing a review. The sushi menu is extensive and oh so delicious. I have tried everything on the menu multiple times. The sushi is always fresh and easily competes with sushi you would find in the finest sushi restaurants in NYC. Their sandwiches, salads and soups are all top notch and you and you can add or substitute in the sandwich to customize to your liking. It is possible to be orthodox Jewish and live and eat richly. My friend from work unlocked this new cuisine for me. And I'm always on the lookout for why the girls in my neighborhood have such beautiful skin. Cafe 11 is a kosher take out place with quality, hearty food that has been fresh every time I take out. The Greek salad has a generous, inch wide layer of superlative quality salty, rich feta. The lettuce is fresh and the Greek dressing delicate and flavorful. I do not recommend any other salad. (Other than adding the tuna salad/egg salad on top of the house salad or by themselves because they are perfect. Also the fruit salad which is piled high with fresh fruit.) The avocado melt is warm and substantial tasting, but can be bland without hot sauce. My favorite sushi so far has been the Philadelphia roll which I usually hate, but they turned me around. The cream cheese lends a complex smoky flavor to the fish. The Monster roll is loaded with different types of fish and my friend and I love to get it to celebrate the end of a large presentation. Their yellowtail roll is also high on my list. The bagels are also worth trying, they are fresh each morning. And the danishes are the size of a loaf of bread and very good. As are the muffins, pretty much all the pastries are good and supersized. The internet ordering option is pretty secure and you can pay on delivery. You also don't have to call and I don't have to shout out my greedy order so all my coworkers can hear. Note: they do not do veggie sushi that well. And there are few vegan options that taste as good as stuff with cheese. read more

A group of us from the office decided to order in and we ended up trying their sushi menu. I ordered two rolls for $8.95 (alaska and yellowtail). My co workers ordered the roll combos too. I thought the quality of the fish was good. The rice used for the rolls however, were a little undercooked so it had a little more of a crunch to it than I expected. The size of the rolls were standard. It came neatly packaged with soy sauce and spicy mayo sauce. The only downside was that it took over an hour for our food to arrive. I like this place but they need to prioritize customers that are waiting to pick up their order over those that are calling to place an order. There's no reason why I need to wait 5 minutes to pick my order (which was ordered online and is ready for pick up) while you explain to the caller what options are available on bagels. read more
