The food at Power Bowls is SO good that we dug in before we even remembered to take any pictures! We ordered bibimbap, beef mandu and kimbap. Everything was delicious!!! You can tell that their food is made with good quality ingredients and care. We visited on the day of the Knicks championship parade. Unfortunately, we got stuck in a crowded section and couldn't get back to our hotel which was literally just a block away. The restaurant opens at 11:00M but the owner and her son were so kind and generous. They let us come in and buy beverages while we waited for the food to be ready. It also gave us a chance to get away from the chaos of the crowd. We can't thank them enough. Without their generosity, we honestly would not have made it through the day with our friends, their two boys, and my husband, who had shoulder surgery just the day before. This is a 4.5 star review. Power bowl was on my way to an event last night and I popped in because I needed a quick dinner and the shrimp mandu ($9) looked great. This place was exactly what I needed. It was simple, fast, and delicious! You get 5 mandu for the price and I thought it was a perfect, light dinner. The woman behind the counter was incredible. In the short time that I was eating, she had multiple, above and beyond conversations with customers, taking ample time to explain dishes or double bag their orders. Today was my first time here at Power Bowls. The whole place was empty and the owner of the place was sitting behind the cashier register waiting for customers. She was very nice and attentive with my order. I got a small bulgogi bowl (24 oz). The small bowl was pretty standard and was not that small so I was very happy about that. It cost $13.99 and around $15 including tax. They had a larger size but luckily I stuck to the small because the small bowl had a lot of ingredients already piled on top of the rice. She asked if I wanted everything in the bowl and I said yeah. The bowl had bulgogi beef, spinach, egg, grey squash, carrots, bean sprouts, scallions, sesame seeds, and rice. It was hard to mix the bowl because all the ingredients were tightly packed into the bowl. Normally I don't eat bulgogi beef but this time I really enjoyed it especially the red sauce the bowl came with. The red sauce was semi spicy, not so spicy that it will leave your mouth on fire! The bowl was very good in my opinion. I just wished it had more rice though. Also the eggs were kind of weird in my opinion. It was very long and stringy. I loved the bean sprouts a lot! Very crunchy! There was enough amount of beef in my bowl to keep me full! Ambience in the restaurant was very casual and quiet. This place was really small and cozy for individuals because there are no chairs. Only small round tables with long benches against the wall for individual seating. The walls are blue and had a nice mural painting on one side of the wall with some small paintings on the other side. This was a good lunch choice I had today and it is very close to my job. I love it a lot. Very filling and healthy! Nothing fatty at all in the bowl! Will come again next time I pass by it. Tucked away in a small storefront on John Street, Power Bowls packs a delicious punch! We walked in and were greeted by the owner who was SO sweet. They have a small but yummy menu - a few meat options for their bowls, some appetizers, and it turns out that the owner makes specials that are available on certain days (check out their Instagram for that!). My partner and I chose to split a large bowl and couldn't decide between meats, but they offered to include both meats in our bowl - even better! We also opted for all the sides, which were so flavorful and paired well with the meat. The kimchi and shrimp mandu were perfectly crisp and had a generous amount of filling. There are some tables inside for dine-in, but we got our food to go. It was perfectly packaged, no spills, and still very warm by the time we got home. That said, the interior was bright and clean. A trilingual queen! As far as I can tell they speak Spanish, English, and Korean at a minimum. Went recently and the two people at the counter (owners?) were so friendly and clearly proud of their work. Anyway, they were telling us how they post videos of things being made on ig of them making their food. They make all the banchan from scratch. Delicious food! They have a simple menu of Korean food but don't let that fool you, there's something for everybody. My favorite is their spicy pork rice bowls w mixed veggies.
