I swear I'd reviewed this place e before but upon checking my list I realized I never did. I get pho from here sometimes and its good for the price. The place is small and there are some stools along the counters ( both sides and front ) . Anyway , today I was craving Banh Mi and I thought I'd get it from here since the pho is good. Honestly, the sandwich wasn't good. Yes the ingredients were fresh, no doubt there, but the flavors were just salt and pepper. No jalapeño, no dressing or butter on the bread and the carrots weren't that pickled. So yes to pho here and no to the Banh Mi Classic. Service is good. The staff is friendly. This place is nearby my job and good thing it is so convenient to get lunch. What's good about this place is that they have student discounts if you're a student at BMCC or Pace University. I opted for the Cooked & Raw Beef Pho, the Crispy Tofu Bites, and a Sprite. I also added a Vietnamese Coffee for a boost of energy. The Pho tasted similar to.. if you were to make instant pho at home. It was not great and definitely needed more seasoning and "oomph." The Crispy Tofu Bites came with a sauce; I liked how crispy hot the tofu was and it paired well with their sweet chili sauce. I also got a Pork Banh Mi that was really good. I didn't expect the banh mi to taste that great but it really surprised me. The pork was cooked and seasoned well, and the bread was soft and fluffy. My friend got a Chicken Rice Bowl- it was very good as well. The chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked well. The Vietnamese Coffee was too bitter for our liking, I asked if they could add more condensed milk but unfortunately it comes pre mixed. They offered to add syrup so I figured that night help.....it didnt. lol I would highly recommend this place if youre in the area and looking for some good Viet food. I came here yesterday for dinner. I ordered the lunch combo of pho and appetizer with a drink. The total was $25.00 and it was ok and a lot of food. The pho i ordered was raw and cooked beef. The amount of food is a lot and you can easily share this with someone else. The pho was not very flavorful and I did not like the dumplings. Nothing much added but nothing much is subtracted either. It felt quite blah with an easy feel to it. The summer rolls have a nice spring, if that majes sense. They are served with peanut sauce, but unless you plan on eating them with a fork and knife, it is one dip only. Perhaps all these years I am eating them wrong. Compared to Hello Vietpho this was expensive and not quite something I would go to get again. Compared to what is next door, they have tough competition. Now y'all know I don't play about my PHO! So when I saw this spot was across the street from my hotel I had to try it. I ordered mine to go since the place was small and a bit crowded. The food smelled so good so I was ready for some great pho but was highly disappointed. I ordered the chicken pho but it was grilled chicken like you may find at a teriyaki or even ramen spot. The broth options were beef even with the chicken pho. I made the mistake of ordering the air fried spring rolls. They tasted like paper on the outside and the inside was okay but I ate maybe 1 and 1/2 of the 6 I got. The Pho did not automatically come with bean sprouts I had to ask for them. My favorite dish is the pork chop rice bowl platter. It's the only thing I get. I've never tried anything else. It's a very tiny space. There is some seating, but it's uncomfortable. They also give you two summer rolls which I thought was generous esp as part of a combo. The fish sauce lacked a bit of flavor which was unfortunate but the grilled pork chop was flavorful. This slightly hole-in-the-wall place is a go-to spot for quick and easy pho or banh mi or any typical Viet restaurant dish that's quick and easy. It is located in FiDi, close enough to several companies, the WTC and Fulton Center so it is definitely a convenient takeout lunch spot. Their menu is simple and also offers several combination choices including a pho+appetizer+drink or a sandwich+appetizer+drink and other combos too. The prices are what you would expect from a place surrounded by large corporate entities where people pay high prices for lunch. It isn't the cheapest option but it also isn't a ripoff. I enjoyed the banh mi combo with an appetizer and drink. The sandwich had lots of ingredients, the bread was toasty and the appetizer was a full portion as well. I've had the beef pho here as well and it was pretty basic and simple but when you don't have time to fully enjoy a meal, you'd probably be ok with it as well. They provide everything that you would need to enjoy your meal including any applicable sauces. Their dining area is small for those that would wanna sit and eat but I've mostly seen a majority of the people come and go. In summary, this is a decent Viet spot for classic, convenient and simple Viet food to take out but it is not the best pho option out there at all. Definitely agree with the raving reviews about the tofu! I got the tofu pho and honestly the tofu was even more flavorful than the soup (I do think they made a mistake though, and gave me vegetable broth instead of beef broth like I asked because I tried my sister's beef pho and her broth was a lot more flavorful). They are also very generous with the serving sizes, so it's pretty good value for NYC (about $15 per meal). The tofu pieces were about as big as the palm of my hand, and there were ~6 of them! The place is tiny--there's only about 8 seats so it's a good spot to get takeout or a quick lunch, but if you have more people with you then it's probably a good idea to look elsewhere. read more

I never thought I would see the day where this happened...but: they gave a regular straw with the tea...if this was regular tea, ok fine. But how do they expect one to suck the bubbles up? Also ordered the pho combo B which came with air fried crispy rolls and the rare/cooked beef in a spicy broth. The options are great and I thought it would be a great deal for the amount of food you would be getting, however, this is the definition of quantity not quality. The spring rolls looked like they were filled from the outside, but instead were just thick dough with maybe one or two carrot strips. Unfortunately, tasteless. I was excited to try the pho which others rave about. It was spicy as requested and there was a lot of beef added. However the broth just tasted like pure chili oil. Decent spot for takeout quality Vietnamese. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst. I have tried a couple of their menu items, but the go to is their Summer Rolls which are huge for $7.00. Definitely enough to fill you up if you add shrimp or pork. I have also had the Tofu Bowl w/ Vermicelli (and added Shrimp), and the Vermicelli w/ Pork. The Tofu Bowl was just okay... I prefer the thinner, lighter fried tofu (or tofu skin) to these thick slabs of it, but not terrible. The Vermicelli w/ Pork was much better and you get a ton of pork for the price. I researched something close to where I was and this place popped up. So, give it a try. I walk into this little hole in the wall, which usually I prefer to big restaurants. The food looked appetizing but I took a bite and this cannot be pho. I think it might be a Chinese version of pho but definitely not Vietnamese. No pho spices inside. I couldn't taste any of it. Then I think they didn't pre soak their noodles because they were so tough. Spring rolls didn't have the same wrapper so it was thick with no flavor. Summer rolls were the only thing that was decent. The perfect lunch spot in FiDi if you are craving banh mis like I do! The store was rather small but even still, packed with people that it doesn't feel like a hole in the wall as it sure was a popular hole! I had to wait some time during prime lunch hour before I got my banh mi. But they were really fast and efficient. The Grilled Chicken Banh Mi ($10.75) was huge! I can't get over how banh mis have spiked to double its price from years ago, but at least the ones here are big enough to feel worth it. I finally stopped here to try their tofu bahn mi and I am sad it took me so long to try Vietspot. This was the best tofu bahn mi I have eaten. The tofu had a marinade on it and was very soft and enjoyable. The only thing i didn't like on the sandwich was a matter of personal taste. I don't like carrots in general, but can deal with them if they are finely chopped or julienned. These carrots were julienned, but on the thick side. I also had the lemon limeaid and really liked it. Wow what a great find. Vietspot has super reasonable prices and decent quality pho. The broth was flavorful, and the noodles were decent. It's the perfect meal if it's cold outside. The only thing is I wish there was a little more sliced beef, but at this price point you can't complain.
