    Spicy Tan Tan Ramen
    Aye K.

Really delicious ramen! Walked in on a weekend night and waited about 60 minutes to get seated. Once we were seated though, the service was very fast and efficient. We tried the smoked dashi ramen and spicy tan tan ramen. Both were great. I enjoyed the subtle smokiness of the dashi broth and thought it paired well with the clams. It definitely felt more unique compared to a traditional ramen. The spicy tan tan ramen had a much bolder and classic flavor profile. The pork was tender but not fatty. We also shared the matcha kakigori, which I may have enjoyed even more than the ramen because the matcha flavor was so strong! There is also a red bean filling in the middle. They also offer a selection of signature cocktails. We tried the yuzu margarita, which was refreshing, and the Japanese cocktail, which I liked for the fresh celery and elderflower flavors. Overall, a great spot that is worth checking out. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you want to avoid the long wait.

Stumbled upon this place that is Michelin guide recommended! And we totally understand why (as did everyone else in line). Got seated at the bar after lining up ~15min before opening on a Friday morning. Smoked dashi ramen was AMAZING. The broth had so much seafoody depth, which makes sense considering we found many clams in our bowl as well! It was a bit lighter than a tonkatsu broth, but a bit heavier than a shoyu-base. The noodles were the perfect bouncy texture as well. Yuzu highball: A great refreshing complement to the heavier soup broth. Great vibes all around.

This is a winner. Hands down amongst the best vegan ramen dish i can recall: broth, add ins, noodles, vegetables, the whole show. Three of us had the same dish, same applause. Communal tables are the fastest seating, nothing wrong with them, take what you're given, rather than risk stepping away because you'd rather a booth....

Beautiful industrial modern black decor~ very cool inside after the brutal sun in June. We had a reservation ahead of time but at the time, we saw no line. Our reservation allowed us to be seated quickly and the menus are on a QR code with a second card will with specials (only one which was the cold noodles) the size of an uno card, but it was very cute. Seems like they are also know for their cocktails but I wasn't able to partake since I wasn't feel too well from traveling~opted for plain tapped water! Maybe next time Appetizers included chachu rice bowl which was basically a roll and kinoko buns both very delicious. The bowl which is a roll had a pull tab to keep tithe rice fresh and keep items in place and it had a cute fortune! The mushroom buns were flavorful and light~ I ordered the miso ginger rento keep myself in check for the rest of the day filled with walking and snacks~ super flavorful for a non-meat option. I was offered some eggs, which was great for some extra protein~ the broth has some light kick spice but very manageable and added to the delicious warm taste~ Ve try good lunch meal and left satisfied and full~ ready to walk some more! This place is such a great spot with constant service, and great accommodations that make it comfortable like the baskets for bags and purses, cool air, and a bathroom that is clean.

    Signature Tokyo banana (pudding) dessert

After my first visit: This is my favorite ramen restaurant on the planet. It's my perfect restaurant - but not because of the ramen. Because of the desserts! First - Tonkotsu (pork) ramen was perfectly balanced. The broth was deeply flavorful but not heavy, almost like an 80/20 hybrid of tonkotsu and shoyu (soy sauce) ramen. Noodles were springy and not overcooked, and the roasted pork had a slightly smoky flavor and was flavorful itself, not just protein and texture like many other ramen joints. We also had the edamame appetizer - super flavorful and addictive, and we wound up ordering a second one (for our party of four) after devouring the first one. Now here's why it's my favorite ramen restaurant- my favorite dessert is banana pudding, and Tonchin's signature Tokyo banana dessert is an elevated banana pudding that makes magnolia bakery look like amateur hour. Plenty of fresh banana and a carmelized banana on the side with a balanced pudding that's not too heavy - this is peak banana pudding. So it has my favorite ramen and favorite dessert. But can it do better? Yes. It can also have...my second favorite dessert! Tonchin has excellent shave ice desserts that reminded me of Korean bingsu. We had the strawberry and it was fresh, bright and had lots of strawberry flavor. Delightful. Service was excellent and the ambiance of the space is dark and elevated. I liked this place so much I bought a hat.

I didn't have a reservation but I put my name in around 6pm on a Friday and the wait was about an hour. The menu is through a QR code. We were a party of 6 and got seated at the booth but it was very tight. The broth was fairly rich and decently priced. Not too spicy. My favorite was the eel rice roll. I like how they cut the eel and it was not too much sauce. The potato and crab salad was too sour for my liking, but good portion. The star was the mango shaved ice which I'd order again. It was so big and had chopped mango pieces in the center of the ice. Our server, maybe it was because she was busy with her other tables but it was hard to get her attention.

Every dish was amazing, I was so impressed! The appetizers (cucumbers, shishito peppers, edamame) were all so unique, and the tonkotsu ramen was absolutely perfect. The fried fish bun was delicious. The mango kaki-gori was AMAZING, but it's huge, you need like 4 people to eat it. The service was extremely fast, even though they were so busy. It's pretty casual inside, but it's great for a date night or dinner with friends.

I waited 30min in line but it was totally worth it cause the food was amazing! The service was phenomenal, the waitress helped me choose and understood my allergies and suggested me what's going to be best for me. The ramen is big! Definitely for 2 people! I loved it, everything felt really authentic.

came right before closing (flight got delayed so made us late to our reservation) so they weren't happy about It but ordered right away. they said couldn't order icecream bc they have to be out by 10pm whilst we were still there past 10pm + several other tables the tontotsku was flavorful, noodles were perfect texture. spicy tan tan was different. came with what we peanuts?! space was good

I have been wanting to try this ramen spot for a while now and I'm glad I did. The restaurant can be easily missed since it doesn't look so big outside. However, once you enter, it's a cozy long place with a few cute booths and tables. It ends with an open kitchen. The service was super quick and efficient! I ordered the Tebasaki 8pcs chicken wings that were peppery and not as crispy as I expected but still good. The only thing minor issue is that it wasn't completely seasoned evenly as you can see that only one wing had the red pepper powder on my picture. However, it was still flavorful. The Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen was very tasty! The broth was rich and creamy without being over salty. The noodles were perfectly bouncy and chewy. Although the cha-shu pork was paper thin, it was seasoned well and delicious! We finished with a shaved ice mango flavor. It was light and refreshing with little bits of fresh mango pieces. Planning to come back again and to try out other appetizers and ramen.

I got the spicy tan tan ramen and enjoyed it. The tonkatsu broth with miso was flavorful without needing to use an excess amount of oil, and the noodles were fresh and chewy. I also appreciated that they added a fair portion of mixins that complemented the rest of the ramen dish well. I will say that I don't think the ramen was super special or a must try, but definitely solid for satisfying a craving for ramen. The restaurant is quite busy, I went on a random weekday night and had to wait about 25 minutes for a party of 1; I believe a part of 2 was at least a hour long wait. I was seated at the bar and it was quite loud and hectic. I guess my biggest gripe with Tonchin is that I'm not a huge fan of waiting for restaurants that I don't think are super special. I did read that their chicken wings and shaved ice are popular specialty items though, so I'll definitely be back to try those next time. 4.7/5

We finished a tour of Michelin recognized casual restaurants here. I didn't order right. I did the dipping noodles and they were too salty for me. I've had them before so I knew what to expect but it was way too salty, less flavorful. Had a very nice flavor, the salt overpowered it though. I tasted mushroom. The sauce stuck to the noodles well and the noodles were delicious. My daughter and husband ordered the spicy ramen and they said it was very very good. Couldn't decipher distinctly from other top notch ramen so it wasn't knock your socks off. From now on I'll order the base dish when I go places so I can judge better. The gyoza was cooked very nicely, came sizzling and the bun with meat was a little ugly, it looked boiled and unappetizing. The taste was just okay. The topping on it was notable. The waitress didn't help us at all when ordering. We weren't bowled over with the food, although it was noted the meat in the ramen was high level. It hit the spot but I will try other places in the search for our "return forever" ramen place.

    Fried Fish Bun
    Dan D.

Tonchin exercised every part of my palate. The yuzu marg is not to be missed: gorgeous color, fruity, yet with a great acid profile. My spicy tan tan was heavenly: generous position of noodles, melt-in-your-mouth chashu, and delightful cashews for balance and texture contrast. The fried fish bun was disappointing in comparison - light, flaky, yet mild. I went in at 2p and found a seat at the bar immediately. When it became Happy Hour at 2:30p, after two cocktails in a row were unavailable (no ingredients that day), they made it up to me with a ridiculous, complimentary portion of the house sake. It was smooth and flavorful, well short of astringent. What a meal!

It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm in the mood for a refined, slightly cinematic night out in Flatiron.

We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.

Top recommendation for apps: the fried tuna nigiri bites. The duck ball things were really good too, and the truffle fries. Heads up, there's absolutely no phone service in the downstairs area (which is spacious and great for a big party), but they have wifi that works really well which is great. Would definitely come back here for dinner sometime.

Angel helped guide our order, paced the food well for a group, and made us feel taken care of from start to finish. Drinks were a highlight: bright, refreshing cocktails (we loved the mint/cucumber moment and a spritz-y option). We ordered a few plates to share and everything hit. The bao were fluffy and satisfying, and the crispy chicken was a standout. Finished with a light, not-too-sweet dessert that was the perfect ending. Would recommend for a casual celebration or a coworker night out.
