The food is good here. It's your typical burger spot. I had the bacon cheeseburger with zucchini. The loveboat had a Phili cheese steak with onion rings. My burger was good. I loved the zucchini. They give way too much food here. The rings are great. I absolutely love their curtido. The Phili was not bad either. Good flavor. The only thing was that we ate here and the seating area is kind of jenky. Look, I don't expect it have marble floors and chic Cherrywood booths. The table that we sat at had the stickiest tabletop. Sticky! Like someone rubbed maple syrup all over the table. And it was dirty from the person before. We moved tables and there was still that stickiness. Which is why they are getting 3 stars. I feel highly about this local greasy spoon the way others might feel highly about their own local one. Minus 1-star for the condition of the furniture and overall look of the place: residue on tables, ripped upholstery, weird advertisements on tables, cheap signage on foam boards, and a rundown, in-need-of-a-remodel aesthetic. I've been coming here for about 7 years now, and this place is like home to me. They used to have classic burgers for a dollar, and as a small group leader at a church next door, those were the best snacks for my small group. The teriyaki place across the street moved to the Long Beach location, but Yellow Basket has been faithful. Price and food indeed change; however, this place is still incomparable. Their BREAKFAST BURRITOS are hands down the best-- just perfectly spicy yet breakfasty, and it's worth every $$. My brother and I also come here almost every Monday for their CHILAQUILES. Wow. Those are some dangerous stuff, and you might regret it for a day, but you will come back next week for some more. read more

This is the second time I've been at the yellow basket on Avalon. And both times I've asked for well done fries. First time did not get well done fries. This time when I went today I wanted to get the chili fries and I asked her to please make the fries well done. She said okay. Also got a chicken fried steak sandwich which I asked for extra mayonnaise and lots of pickles put on it. I got lots of mustard on it which the sandwich is normally really good it was okay with the mustard but would have been better with no mustard and extra mayonnaise. Got home was really excited and opened the chili fries and the fries are very limp and undercooked. So there's no way for me to fix these chili fries since I cannot throw the fries in my air fryer make them crispy. I spent over $14 on two items. I can't even eat the chili fries because the chili is all over the fries and there's no way me eating around that. Sucks when it's your first meal of the day and you can't even eat it. read more

(To the guy who said it was dry..ask for salsa on the side) Anyways, the burrito was good, but about $1.00 more than the place I usually go to and not much different. I gave a 3 star because after using the restroom there was no toilet paper and no seat covers. I kindly told two lady's at the cashier and their reaction was blaa, like they didn't care... a simple "thank you for letting us know, we'll take care of it." Loved this place. I come here every weekend for a brunch. Friendly staff. Went there at dinner trying to get some strips. Didnt need any drink or fries so asked if I could get just the strips they said ok and ringed up 10.74 for 6 strips whereas combo with drink and fries is 7.99. When I questioned the price the two girls seemed to find no issues about it because it is not a combo. I guess it is very normal to charge more money for lesser food. Finally decided to give this place a shot - Got a breakfast burrito! It was soooo good, had eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese & pico de gallo (chopped tomato salsa) . A little spicy which is awesome! You can't beat yellow basket's prices and their huge portions. They have awesome breakfast deals and their breakfast burritos are so goddamn good. The service is friendly and you'll have your food within 10 minutes, tops. YB doesn't look like much from the outside. The building looks old and the interior is outdated. You wouldn't expect such good burgers and burritos from a place like this but mama said don't be so quick to judge. If you have an appetite and your wallet is looking a little sad, come here and you'll leave pretty satisfied. I recommend any of their burgers or breakfast burritos. I would come here for the novelty, but not much else. The outside looks abandoned. The inside appears remodeled, but not maintained. The men's bathroom is similar to a truck stop that they must clean once a month. The worst part is the water. I'm fairly certain it's unfiltered and dirty. I got a cup of water and it tasted like toilet water. I know this because I've had toilet water before. Now if their cups of water tastes like toilet, what do you think they cook and wash all their ingredients with? Bottled water? Nope. They wash and cook everything with the same quality water. Called and asked for an egg burrito (that doesn't even come with bacon), said multiple times on the phone, "NO MEAT," as I don't eat meat and it makes me sick. Used to be me and my co-workers favorite spot for breakfast burritos. Had seen they were renovating and I'm thinking it's a new owner. I don't know if they changed cooks or if the owner changed things up, but it is not what it used to be! Prices went up, breakfast burritos got smaller and the taste isn't there anymore. Their Pico de Gallo doesn't even taste the same. And to top it off the girl at the counter has really bad customer service; no nice greeting or a "thank you", just huffs puffs and walks away. Very cheap food, huge variety. Wanted to go & support due to the remodel. Waited in the drive thru for a long time, noticed that there's only one window. Finally received our order & they never gave us the rest of the breakfast meal. So we had to drive all the way back, the workers were helpful & receptive .
