When I have a craving for a burger, I want a BURGER. But I would come here for a quality burger, not quantity. I've tried their other location and I like the small business feel of the place. The shishito peppers are good, very greasy though and the sauce wasn't anything unique, it did the job. The burgers are good, every time I come back, I'm reminded how a lot of the options seem to be on the sweeter side and I'm personally a savory burger gal. I can only get the burgers when I know I'm absolutely starving or I wouldn't be able to finish it. The burgers I had in the past were all super delicious. I love the ones with the fried egg! You can never go wrong. So thinking that a burger would be a big commitment and wanting something I can also box up, this time I got a braised beef plate. It ended up being the biggest dish of all lol It felt like the main dish was the Brussels sprouts and the side was the braised beef lol but personally I preferred it that way! It was such a perfectly balanced plate. Underneath the beef hid the rice. I must have been starving because I ordered the Napoleon--a burger with a huge piece of short rib in the middle. It was amazing! However, I had to take the big piece of short rib out of the burger because it was just impossible to eat that way. It also came with an order of Parmesan fries right in the middle--delicious! I probably won't be hungry for another week. My daughter's chicken nuggets were good, and I'll probably be getting those next time. All she cared about were the fries, and she was very satisfied. A cozy little place nestled between Wahoo's and Chicken Dijon on Torrance Blvd, the vibe is relaxed and the staff is friendly and welcoming. This visit was a 3-Star experience but with hindsight I would have made a few changes and it could be a 4-Star experience, so rating 4 stars. The Standing Room has multiple locations, one that is almost on Redondo Beach and another one that is about 3 miles inland (same plaza as Tomo Sushi). All of the food items seem optimized for Instagram, but the burgers can get messy once you start eating. We selected the Dressed another and got the side of Brussel Sprouts with Habanero Cream. The Dressed Burger comes with bacon, spring mix, caramelized onions, bleu smoked gouda, fried egg, Korean aioli, and tomato jam. The Onions were one of strongest flavors, perhaps needed more tomato jam or aioli to balance. Good portion size. The spring mix was slightly wet (or it got steamed) and so that made it easy to slide apart and get messy, the caramelized onions likely also contributed. I did not know there was bleu smoked Gouda cheese in there, and could see a cheddar working with the bacon and onions. Brussel sprouts came with generous habanero cream on top, but it was more creamy than spicy, I couldn't tell it was habanero at all. Cooking was on point, some nice crispy browning with the inside still moist, it just needed a more dominantly flavored spread. read more

My family and I were in the area and extremely hungry for some burgers. I looked on my account and realized I already had this place on my to-go list and it was around the corner. We had so much trouble deciding what we wanted because there were so many good options on the menu. The staff was really nice and helped us with any questions we had and even gave us tips and pointers on the menu. We ordered the Napoleon Burger, the Cash Burger, and the Karage Chicken. Both of the burgers were really good and the Napoleon is definitely a burger for two people. I knew it came with fries but I had no idea the whole bed of fries was inside the burger. The flavors of both burgers blended together really well and I would definitely recommend them to others. The Karage Chicken had a crispy exterior and juicy tender interior. This was my first time at the Standing Room and I liked how their menu had a lot of different options. The staff was helpful and offered some recommendations for us which was nice. The food also did not take long after being ordered. The restaurant was empty when we came around 2pm on a Sunday so nothing to worry about regarding seating since they dont have that many tables inside. I got the Charlotte sammy, with the coleslaw on the side. The bread was really soft and grilled nicely, the pulled pork was a bit tough for my liking, but the coleslaw was really good. My sister got the Bully and I thought it didn't have enough meat and kimchi compared to bread ratio but it was okay. My dad got the classic burger and that was solid! We also got the truffle fries and sweet potato fries which were my favorite items. Not sure if I would come back, but if I did I would get the truffle fries or sweet potato fries, and maybe try a salad or burger. read more

The people here are so nice and were so helpful with it being our first time here. I tried the Chance burger and it was the perfect spice level and mix of flavors. Tried Classic burger which is basically a cheeseburger and the truffle fries. Food was ordered to go and was ready to pick up on time. I thought I ordered the burger medium but it was closer to medium-rare and leaning more on the rare side. The burger itself was fine but somewhat bland. The Thousand island dressing helps. The fries came with a lot of parmesan which kinda overshadowed the flavor of the truffle. Since I wasn't able to eat the fried right away, they became pretty soggy. I probably should've opened the box to let the heat/moisture out. Some restaurants will cut holes on the top of the take out boxes to vent. Have heard about this place for YEARS, gave it a try tonight. Absolute disaster. Time between placing order and delivery was 27 minutes, FAST for a Friday. Truffle fries....cold and dry, consistency..damp cardboard. All of them, the side and those served with burgers. Wife ordered a Sammy, asked for bacon on side wrapped separately (nitrite allergy). No bacon on Sammy OR on the side. Also added sliced avocado to Sammy, didn't get that either. Son and I ordered Napoleons. Fries nasty. Burger cold.favor bland, expected more, has to use lots of salt to be halfway enjoyable. Ordered a side of Pan Roasted Edamame. Sounds amazing. Can't give a report on quality or flavor.....never arrived in the order. Called the place and asked Louise to please deliver the missing side and replace the cold fries, his response was "come get it". I said "I ordered delivery because I didn't want to drive anywhere for dinner". His response was "we're busy, come get it or call us tomorrow" then hung up on me. Completely FLOORED! By FAR the WORST meal and service I have EVER experienced. We were VERY hungry before ordering, pic below is 54 minutes after meal was delivered. I ate half of mine(left) simply because I was hungry. Wife took a bite, said wasn't worth the price then went to bed. Then plate on far right is my sons, said fries were nasty, short rib was dry and tuff and burger was bland, no longer hungry now. The brussel sprouts is a must get sharable item( super crunchy and goes perfect with their creamy habanero sauce). The Parmesan truffle fries were crispy and unsalted which we loved. The fries are on the thinner side which makes it more crispy but satisfied with one time experience. The Chance Burger definitely has a spicy kick from the jalapeños. Both burger and sammie were finger licking good!!! Portions are just unbelievably huge. I don't think we'll be eating for the next two days. Many years ago, I visited the original Standing Room located in the back of a liquor store in Redondo Beach. Super impressive yet, I have not returned there since it was out of my way. Made a stop at this Torrance location, to pick up dinner. Remembered how amazing the Ca$h burger was and got that for the mister. It has bacon, shishito peppers, American and cheddar cheese, crispy peppered onion, Korean aioli, hoisin BBQ. The mister was very impressed! I got the Classic burger with a plant based patty. The Classic shredded lettuce, sans the onion, tomato, American and cheddar cheese, and lastly Thousand Island. Perhaps I went too basic and give just a 3. Not wowed. I've had 4 star plant based burgers at fast food burger places. Next time, I will try something else- either something on the Sammies menu or the Ca$h with a plant based patty. Truffle parmesan fries were good although they lost their crisp during a-not-very- long 15 minute vehicle trip! I liked the fries a lot better than the Classic burger. Service was courteous and efficient. You order at the kiosk and they text or call out your order when done. Also, they will cook your burger at medium unless you specify otherwise. The food is great. The reason to my 3 stars is because the employees don't know how their own online ordering works. I ordered a Hawaiian breakfast and a quesadilla. The quesadilla was perfect my daughter loves it but for my breakfast item I specifically clicked the no sausage option as I don't care much for regular sausage. But when I received my order there was no Portuguese sausage inside and I went and called them to let them know that there was an issue and the girl who answered tells me it was specified. If you look at the picture I attached it's clearly specified in the options provided by them! You guys need to train your workers to be more knowledgeable of your own services so issue like this don't happen. She even stated to me there nothing she can do on her end. SMH.
