So I've been coming here since High school back in the late 90's. This place is still run by the same family who are super nice and treat you right. They have large portions of whatever you order. My kids love their chili cheese fries which are delicious and loaded with cheese. They are the only ones my picky son will eat. Their hamburgers are hot off the grill and fresh like all of their food. They also give you hot peppers and a secret sauce on request. Prices I feel are comparable to similar types of establishments however I feel this place deserves my money more than the next guy. They genuinely put pride and care into making your food. They have outdoor seating only located next to busy PCH and a busy shopping plaza but it's rare to not see people sitting there. All in all I highly recommend. read more

I went and bought two burgers first an older white lady gives me a small drink instead of my regular large drink that comes with my bacon cheeseburger combo. While im eating i notice hair in both of the sauces they gave me. I go and let her know just so she can be aware and stop giving that sauce out instead she looks at me and says " but it wasnt in your burger only your sauces. I'm currently waiting in the drive through while writing this. So the guy taking orders speaks super quick as if he's frustrated while working. I didnt mind but don't ask what drinks I wanted assumed I wanted cokes and I asked what kind of drinks he had and spoke them super quickly but I managed to understand. My mom that's on the window of the drive through was gonna pay with card and he declined in a way that was taunting and I paid with cash afterwards and snatched the bill and I asked for a bit extra thousand island and just walked off without acknowledging. I've been coming to this Gus since I was a young kid with my parents to get the hamburger special, especial how we call it. Theres nothing super special about it but I like it. Now as an adult I crave one here and there and it hits the spot. The chilis, the thousand island just yum! I recently saw on TikTok chiquis riveras best friend Omi try the chili cheese fries here and I decided to try them out (I only ever had the hamburger special). Went through the drive thru, order taker was Jenny, the heavy weight female. She turned off the speaker and we were not done ordering. We drove up to the window and tried to ask her if she got the rest of our order, she just walked away. She came back to take the payment, I asked her again if she got the rest of our order, she said she turned off the speaker with an attitude and rolled her eyes and if we wanted to order something else to get off the car and come to the front. I told her calmly that we were not going to get off the car because we're ordering on the drive thru. This is a place to go if you want to grab a burger fast. This place makes burgers faster than any other local burger place. Since they have a fast service, your burgers aren't going to be great in taste. Chances are your burger might be cold when you take your food to go. It's a small place with about 3-5 employees so when it gets busy it is going to take a while to get your food. In terms of eating there, I think it is good but just keep in mind it's completely in open with just a roof over tables and surrounded by the drive through lanes. A few weeks back i was coming here every week with my brother and we noticed that the prices would change EVERYTIME and we always got the same thing! 2 double bacon cheeseburgers, 2 large chilicheese fries. Here are the prices i paid during 4 trips. $26.75 $36.50 $32.50 $29.50 And once we downsized to small chilicheese fries and paid $21.75. My father went a short time after and was charged $52.75 for 3 cheeseburger combos. 2 with fries and 1 with onion rings. The customer service here is actually so bad it's laughable. I've attempted to order twice in the drive thru and am met by some angry employee who speaks only two words apparently. We were in Lakewood and my sister kept raving about this place called "Gus Burgers"... talking about how great it was, best burgers ever, so cheap, puts In and Out and Five Guys to shame...... so we made short drive to wilmington for this famous burger to find out if it is in fact all that my sister claimed it was. We went through the drive through. I don't believe there are tables inside. Think it's all outside seating. Anyhow, I dont even know what combo i had. I just said... "i want the burger that has bacon on it." Oh my goodness its HUGE! (that's what she said...) and so delicious. It's their regular bacon cheese burger. They don't skimp on bacon. It's really meaty and heavy. The fries are average. This place has the bomb burgers for hella cheap! My sis is right... It is all that. I won't say any more about that because I want to rate Gus Burgers on their food. It gets five stars because for what it is, it's great. It's a hamburger joint and the burgers are really good. Wow- Gus Burgers has been here so long. My fiance used to come here like almost everyday after high school. The hamburger special used to be like $3 or something. I really enjoy there chicken salad and there breakfast special. And let me tell you that don't play around with that chicken salad. When I mean chicken- I mean chicken! There breakfast burritos here are no good there just full of hash browns really and a super paper thin layer of egg and of course Sausage or bacon . So if you love greedy hash brown this burrito is 90% of JUST THAT! I don't think cheese is put in the burrito. I ordered cheese in my burrito and I didn't notice any so they must have put a very very skimpy amount . So I don't recommend a breakfast burrito from here. Another thing that hasn't change is their intercom, it sounds like you are speaking to a robot in a weather storm, and if you order anything out of the ordinary......like a 2 plain Double Cheese Burger you might get home and discover 1 plain burger just buns and meat patty......No DOUBLE MEAT, No DOUBLE CHEESE.
