Went there yesterday. Ordered a crew things. The issue was with a double cheese burger combo and a cheese burger combo. The double was no mayo and no tomatoes. The cheese burger was no onions. Picked up order. Checked it real quick thought I had everything went back to work. Found out they only put the cheese burger in the bag but they charged me for a double cheese burger. The other mistake was that the cheese burger was made how the double should've been made. They charged me for a double but gave me a single. I called them to tell them they said I could come by and they would give me another patty to put in the burger that I had and I could pay for another burger (the missing one) so now I have to drive back and forth again and spend another 49 minutes out of work for thier mistake? Stopped by this morning for a breakfast burrito on the way to work. Order Egg and Cheese burrito and menu board says 4.75. Get to window and and charged over $8.00. OK. Not going to complain. Maybe I misread sign. Waited about 5 minutes. Get to work and the burrito has no seasoning. Bit into burrito and got a mouth full of mushy potato with no salt. Keep eating and get to the egg. Again no flavor and a big pocket of melted cheese....no flavor! I understand that you are cooking for the common denominator...mayne most people do not like their food salted, but for 8 bucks? Another one of those hood "greasy-spoon" shops. Restaurants like these make Los Angeles what it is. Make no mistake, this spot is in the hood. The decor of the restaurant is super antiquated; there is a early 2000's retro feel to it. Despite this place being a hole-in-the-wall, the food is amazing and ample in portion size. I got the 3 meat burrito which came with bacon, ham and sausage, eggs & hash browns. I opted for no salsa. The burrito was nice and big but lacked a bit in the seasoning department so I added ketchup for a quick fix. The fries were fresh and crispy. It's my opinion that these little burger joints shouldbe judges by their breakfasts. Burgers themselves tend to be identical, so the real proof is what these guys dobwith fresh ingredients -- eggs. Now, the Yellow Basket's scrambled eggs -- yes, plain ol' scrambled eggs -- are insane. They taste like they are half butter. Which isn't to say they're bad...just make me feel like I'm shortening my life when I eat them. Same goes for the bfast burritos. They are awesomely loaded with goodness. And the bacon is nice and crispy. And oh the cheese. It's really good. And huge. But again. It makes my heart hurt in 20 years. Been coming here for years, the food is pretty consistent for the most part, which I like. The more traditional food items are good: burgers, sandwiches, breakfast dishes, etc. The prices are very reasonable. Today i brought my sister along, we had a craving for pancakes. We both ordered the special of 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon and each had a side of hashbrowns, i had coffee she had Orange juice. It was a large amount of food for $22. I love over easy eggs, they cooked them up just right. Food came out fast and hot, coffee was good and hot. Overall its a good spot. I've been going to Yellow Basket since I was a little girl. Its gone through many many many a management change, menu change, and what not...and I think it's greatness has suffered. The burgers used to be crazy juicy, tasty, greasy--the kind that you're worried you might get a heart attack with. Served of course in a yellow basket, with heaps of fresh onion rings, french fries, and fried zucchini. But now, the menu is cluttered with everything from burgers to burritos, just really lost its focus somewhere along the line. The food now is average. Nothing too amazing about a regular burger and some okay fries. Service is still great and years later the furniture is still the same. Haha. read more

Average buger and fries. - nothing special, but pretty good. BUT, they have Gyro's! ((that got me there) - A Gyro & fries!! I always get that. (comes w/ pickles and mustard, LOT'S of mustard. nice.) came w/ fries and drink for $7.99. the sandwich had a lot of meat. it was salty, fatty and cooked to a nice 'medium.' it was almost like a cured prime rib. it was pretty good. not as good as Johnny's Pastrami or Langers, but still tasty. the fries were standard fare but were nice and hot. if i could build a better sandwich w/ their meat, i'd get some different bread. it was too fragile to hold up the juicy meat and mustard. also, it was a bit too salty for my tastes. next time i'll check out some of the mexican dishes they have. read more

This, along with many others like it has the regular run of the mill char-grilled style burgers, heaping amounts of wedge fries that are a bit over salted but fresh, and a beverage for: dirt cheap. The drive through sucks if you don't have a passenger with you, because the driver has to reach all the way to the passenger side to pay and get their order as it is on that side (WTF???) so be prepared for that. Either way- it is the typical burger shop found in and all around the county of Los Angeles. Decent but nothing spectacular. read more

Nothing pains me more than giving a lackluster review to a long-lasting independent burger joint. We all know they're disappearing from the LA landscape, so each one is to be cherished and nurtured. Unfortunately, at least as far as their burgers and fries go, Yellow Basket just doesn't seem to care. The burger was standard issue, flat and flavorless, frozen patty like you could buy at Smart & Final in bulk for a bunch of kids who won't know the difference. The bun was okay. The fries were lifeless. It was all by-the-numbers, as if no one cared. Perhaps the changing demographics mean that Mexican food is a better order. People seem to like breakfast quite a bit, but I'll never be down there at that time.
