Visiting from AZ and my brother recommended we try this place for lunch. It's located in a beautiful area and I loved that it has both indoor and outdoor seating options. It's a quaint-looking little place and the yellow umbrellas give off sunshine and happy vibes. It is a counter order type of place, but they do bring your food out to you when it's ready. We decided to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor weather and nestled under one of many yellow umbrellas. Food portions are big enough for sharing, but we didn't know this and we each ordered a different sandwich, which was also served with a green spinach salad and an amazing dressing. Food was all very good. It is on the pricier end for a casual lunch, but if you like sharing, one sandwich is perfect for two. We each ended up only eating half our sandwiches and were given a container to take the rest home (ONE container!). I am shocked I have not reviewed this particular Yellow Vase. We have been here more times than I can count. It is a lovely cafe with a wonderful menu, inside and outside seating, seating area in back for a large group, clean restrooms, cute yellow decor and the most beautiful setting outside under yellow umbrellas surrounded by large local succulents and plants. The food is consistenly fresh and fabulous. We have had the sunny eggs on a grilled baguette with the side salad, french onion soup, eggs & sausage, sunshine pannini, avocado toast and the smoked salmon plate. Everything is served hot. I love love their coffee as well. The Spanish latte is my favorite. Oh and the strawberry salad is one of my favorite salads. We have never been here for dinner but the offerings look amazing. The parking is always busy but we can usually find a spot. I love this shopping center. There is a new ice cream shop right accross the path we will need to try soon. read more

My favorite Yellow Vase location! Was back in my hometown today and decided to stop for brunch with my friend since I haven't been here in years. The ambiance is always nice, lots of beautiful flowers and decor that is true to their theme, and it looks fabulous! You order and then receive a table number and can seat yourself, they also don't take reservations. The line to order was all the way to the door by 11:45am, and it only got busier until we left at 1:30pm. It took 25 minutes for us to order so definitely expect a decent wait, we came on a Saturday. The line was well out the door during peak lunch time while we were eating. Love that this spot has become so popular, I used to come here all the time as a kid and it was never this packed. I got the Chipotle Chicken sandwich which was always my go-to order. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I remembered it being. It was quite dry, barely any Chipotle sauce on there. On the plus side, they were very generous with the avocado which is always appreciated. I also tried the iced honey vanilla latte which wasn't bad. I do wish they had more options for lattes/sweet drinks though. I asked about the Spanish latte and they said it's barely sweet and to get the honey vanilla if I wanted a sweet coffee but I just wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor of the drink. Would definitely still recommend this spot, they have a very large menu and there's something here for everyone. I would love to come back and try something new next time! read more

2/14/26 The staff here makes me want to come back repeatedly. They are just so amazing and friendly. The chipotle chicken panini is so delicious. This is our second time here. We love this spot. I've visited Yellow Vase a couple of times, and each experience has been fantastic! I really love the atmosphere--it feels like stepping into a little European town, with yellow umbrellas, bamboo and rattan chairs, and lush green plants that add to the charm. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and both areas are equally inviting. We tried the Quesadilla ($15), which was absolutely delicious--tender chicken melted with jack cheese and green chilies inside a spinach tortilla. The cafe is really pretty and bright with lots of YELLOW aesthetics, why it's called Yellow Vase. The yellow everything made us feel happy being there. The vibe was chill, cozy and happy. It's a simple concept: get in line, order your food(s), get a number and find a table. The servers will bring out your food items when ready. What we ordered: 01. Raspberry Matcha $7.99 - 3 Stars - A little bit of sweetness, more Matcha taste and barely any Raspberry to taste. Probably would not get again. 02. Yellow Vase Golden Milk Latte $5.80 - 3 Stars - Tasted better than the Matcha, just ok, nothing special. 03. Strawberry Salad $16.95 - 2.5 Stars - Not a fan of strawberries on my salads but my gf liked it. There wasn't enough dressing (as you can see). Definitely had better ones. 04. The Symphony Panini $16.95 - 3 Stars - This had Ham, Roast beef, Turkey, Tomato, Avocado, and Cheese. This was my gf's order and she liked it. The Salmon was perfectly cooked, this was probably the best items out of our orders. PARKING - Park in the parking lot as street parking is limited. Customers from the plaza were constantly leaving so you can find parking. The parking spots in front of the businesses are only short time parking for pickup and drop-offs. LOCATION - Great Gram-worthy location, decor is so pretty and there are BEES flying around due to all of the plants and flowers around the eating areas so just be careful if you are allergic to bees. There are a few tables inside to avoid them and the sun. They have a side section for private events, super cute to have a Baby/Bridal Shower or a Birthday/Private Event. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Super friendly team and always smiling. FOOD - Not the best you've ever had but just mediocre Brunchy items. You really come here for the vibe and aesthetics. I liked how the vanilla cake was moist. This is a really quaint brunch spot with a casual yet sophisticated feel. You order at the counter, get a number and your food is brought out to you. This Yellow Vase doesn't have an ocean view like their other location but the courtyard space and outdoor area is very picturesque and spacious. The decor inside is French-country chic with a lot of artificial flowers and yellow colors. Outside, there are real plants to enjoy. The bad: I was going to buy an apron there but it was a little under $60. I felt like this place had fewer pastries and cakes in their display than the one in Rolling Hills. My husband didn't care for the flavor of the almond latte because it said it tasted artificial. The vanilla cake was moist but a bit plain. My husband and I visited Yellow Vase Cafe today around 10:45 am and ordered the salmon benedict, which came with a side green salad. I had only taken two bites when I noticed a medium-sized green insect crawling inside my food. I immediately brought it to the waiter's attention. Instead of taking responsibility or showing concern, I was told that it must have come from outside. Nothing was done after that -- no replacement plate, no offer to fix the situation in any way. The lack of care and response was extremely disappointing. Finding an insect in your food is upsetting enough, but the way it was handled made the experience much worse. It was surprisingly packed for a weekday, but then again it was around lunch hour. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not terrible, just unexpected. The cashier wasn't rude per se, but let's just say enthusiasm wasn't on the menu. We all gravitated toward classic brunch fare, and I played it safe with an omelet. It was tasty... I think. Honestly, I can't remember it. What I can remember, in vivid, borderline-romantic detail, is the creamy shrimp pasta we ordered to share. We were torn on whether pasta was too heavy for a post-hike, pre-noon meal,(we decided to order it as sharable), but spoiler alert: it was 100% worth it. I'm still dreaming about it. 7/14/24 Needed an escape/getaway from the heat--this place is perfect. It's a scenic drive coming to the Palos Verdes Estates area & two of my favorite places are here, next door to each other. Today , Hubby decided to try the one I had the other time, salmon lemon capers (with asparagus) and I wanted to try their burger. Both of us were very pleased and satisfied with our orders. Hubby really loved the salmon lemon capers (his favorite is the grilled asparagus!) and he said he'll order it again next time. I had gotten the SPANISH LATTE (hot) so good 10/10 would buy that again, my friend had gotten the MATCHA LATTE she said it's like a 6/10 barely taste the matcha, she had gotten a FRENCH TOAST and she said 4/10 wouldn't order it again and I had gotten a BREAKFAST WRAP (breakfast burrito) 5/10 was nothing special the vegetables were cold with a hot egg in it no flavor. Don't think the ratings here do this place justice. Had a pretty good experience here and the seating is nice. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it's self serve. You order in the front and grab a number then find an available seating. Here is what I tried out. Raspberry Matcha - This was decent. Raspberry flavor wasn't that strong and it tasted like a lot more matcha. It was overall okay. (3.5/5) Spanish Latte - This was nice and delicious. Came with latte art as well. (4.5/5) Pene Pesto with a Chicken - Definitely my favorite. I was surprised that this was actually good and the price was pretty reasonable. Would recommend! (4.5/5) Yellow Monte Cristo - This was solid. Basically French toast sandwich. Was simple and good. (4/5) Overall this is a good spot for a chill and relaxed environment. I feel so bad because this was a terribly disappointing lunch. Due to the polarizing reviews, I was hoping my experience would land positive, but that did not happen. My friend and I ordered the smoked salmon plate, the mini? wedding cake? pastry (I forget what it was called, but it was just like a lil ball right behind their selection of macarons), the fruit tart, the golden turmeric latte and a matcha latte. The smoked salmon plate was pretty sad. The baguette was stale and wasn't ACTUALLY a baguette, but a bolillo of sorts. I must say, the smoked salmon portion was generous, but other than that, the whole sandwich lacked seasoning and proper construction (everything was just messily piled on top). The wedding cake... item... tasted doughy and just... not nice. Both lattes were mid. The matcha had lost its flavour, possibly due to poor production. The fruit tart was the only item that was semi-okay. It wasn't too sweet, but it still wasn't anything special. The way the cafe works is very similar to how Urth operates: you order your food, you're given a number and the server brings it out to you. Overall, this place is nice for a visit and if you're only getting a coffee/drink. I wouldn't bother ordering the food or the pastries. Payment system was broken, so I had to try my card twice and I got a text both times saying I was charged. Cashier insisted she deleted the first charge but I don't understand why that had to happen in the first place. But actually that's not the main reason I am leaving one star. Three times I asked, NO FOAM in my cappuccino. Three times I repeated it. Cashier acknowledged it and said ok. They proceeded to bring me the foamiest cappuccino I have had in my whole life--which would have been ok if that's the only way they could make it, but she should have told me that instead of agreeing to my request. Both of the above are minor inconveniences, but taken together, they negate the experience I was hoping to have given the beach side ambience of relaxation and serenity this place purports to provide. If you can't get simple things right like your payment system or the foam in your coffeemaker, you should not be in business.
