    cinnamon roll at the beach!
    Jessica I.

It was okay! The staff and ambiance were amazing and I would return just for that. Their courtyard has a ton of seating and is a nice mix of being outdoors, but still feeling like you are in a private area. Great location as well - right next to Mickey's, decent amount of street parking, and walking distance to the beach. I had the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie + cinnamon roll, and both pastries were just okay to me. I'd still come back to try other items and enjoy the courtyard!

Well, this place caught my eye as I biked by! So adorable, fabulous patio. They ran out of almost everything and didn't have matcha, though (thank your, Mike, for reminding me!), so I love the ambiance and the concept, I just think the goods could be better. I'd definitely like to try them again!

Come for the great patio but stay for the baked goods! From freshly made cinnamon rolls to croissant and from pizza puff pastry to breakfast burritos! The bike theme is a great kicker for a cycling lover like me. The service is top and I love the ambiance at the patio. Went twice this weekend!

Yellow Jersey is a must try in HB and a great spot if you're looking for GF options! We got the breakfast burrito (GF tortilla) and a GF spice muffin. Both were delicious! We also loved sitting in the courtyard which was quiet, cute, and perfect for catching up. Service was above and beyond - the owner is so friendly and makes you want to keep coming back!

Run, don't walk, to this place. (Or cycle to be on brand.) FOOD: daily fresh made pastries that delight. I had the Apple tart with an apricot glaze. Super flakey dough and perfect accompaniment to my iced latte. AMBIENCE: Go for the food, stay for the cute as hell courtyard. The owner was friendly created a warm welcoming environment. Chat about his love of cycling or bring your dog and get added to the dog wall of fame. Come early to make sure you get a full selection before they sell out.

I went here for a book event. It's a small cafe in Hermosa. I parked in the metered zone. I probably wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for the audio book event that I participate in. I ordered a pumpkin scone and a latte. Together it amounted to $9. It's not a bad deal. The serving area is small but the dining area is outdoors and it's really cute! Service was very friendly and they very much support our local artists!

Yummy homemade-style pastries with a cute outdoor garden. The cookie and scone were great. It's nice that they rotate the pastries based on the season. I haven't tried the coffee or breakfast burrito yet, so will update the review based on that next time. My main feedback for now is their open hours. It would be nice if they opened a little earlier, at 8 AM at least.

What a cute little shop! Came here with an audiobook walking club (shout out Stephanie and her romance book truck, The Fleuria!) and it was the perfect vibe. The courtyard is perfect! I can't wait to come back and read while I drink my coffee. The sausage egg burrito was so tasty and the frosty on the cinnamon roll, byyyeeee. My partner inhaled the egg bite so I'm sure it was good too. Overall, super cute spot and can't wait to come back!

The spirit of the Hermosa Pie & Cake Company lives on with Yellow Jersey! The shop feels so open and quaint and even has a little seating bar so you can watch the sun rise in the East or the beachgoers walking by. The owner, Mike, is friendly and enthusiastic about this venture and his baked wares which include delicious croissants, tarts, sourdough loaves and cinnamon rolls. He plans on adding more seating in the charming back garden area which will be a great place to sip some of his fresh-squeezed lemonade and enjoy a snack mere steps from the beach. Truly happy to see this location back in use.

Excellent, warm service. Delicious pastries and espresso drinks. Cinnamon roll was so good I wanted another one; and loved that the portion size wasn't gigantic. Brought our dogs and really enjoyed the patio area vibe.

I think these breads and pastries are nice, but what brings the fifth star is when they use their breads for sandwiches. My wife ordered a blanco toast, which had ricotta, avocado, and a bunch more flavor bombs over freshly baked sourdough toast. I highly recommend their 'works" bagel sandwich. I had it on a sesame seed bagel with a very tasty scallion cream cheese. What made it amazing was their use of perfectly ripened, sweet heirloom tomato, thinly sliced red onions, briny capers, delicious olive oil, and fresh dill, that gave perfect balance and perfect seasoning. We sat at a communal bench/table to enjoy our breakfast items (which they stop serving after 10:30); however, we noticed that others were eating some delicious-looking sandwiches served on their fresh baguettes. I know that I have to come back for those!

I sat outdoors and listened to the sound of the water wall fountain installation. Large selection of varying French pastries and desserts that look absolutely scrumptious. It was difficult to decide, but I finally decided and ordered an avocado toast and small latte. Because there was only one other person there, the lady behind the counter said she would find me, which she did. She delivered my drink first. Afterwards, she personally delivered my avocado toast with a side salad, served on a wooden chopping block. It all looked good. Well presented. From the first bite of my avocado toast, it was delicious because of the freshly baked bread. A nice, thick dark bread. It was piled on with freshly chopped avocados that kept falling off the bread, topped with pickled radish, tomatoes, and pine nuts. Parking: There's plenty of free, shared lot parking in the back.

DineLA Food & Drink Order ($15): Breakfast Plate: Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes with 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (sunny-side up) $15.95 Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte $6.95 Server/Bartender: Andrew I have been a long time fan of Kirari West Bake Shop when it opened with much fanfare as a 100% gluten-free Japanese bakery with treats that defy the common undesirable traits of gluten-free goods: dense, dry, &/or gritty. When Kirari West Bake Shop (refer to Review #290) opened sister bakery, Confections by Kirari West, a couple of years ago, I bookmarked them for a visit but didn't get around to it until I saw them on 2026 DineLA. The confections bakery also sits in King Harbor Plaza, but south of its sister between Glaze Craze & King Harbor Spa, serving all-day breakfast, burger, sandwiches, & pizzas with teas, coffees, & smoothies. According to Andrew, KWBS bakes bread for CBKW & CBKW bakes treats & doughnuts for KWBS. Still not quite understanding the difference because KWBS also serves breakfast but in sandwiches & french toasts, & paninis, sandwiches, & salads. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Initially focused solely on baked goods: artisan breads, scones, & Bake-At-Home gluten-free flour mixes, CBKW has evolved their menu to include sandwiches, pizza, quinoa bowls, & smoothies. The DineLA menu offered 3 options, & I deliberated between pancakes & chicken burger. I chose the Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes because they looked fluffy & divine in the owner pic; it includes 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (cooked sunny-side up). And picked an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte with less ice for my drink. It was quiet for an early lunch, & a couple of ladies walked in after I finished ordering. The bakery cafe has its cozy charm with a lovely black & white mural on the right long wall that's great for selfies or social posts. There's 4 2-tops & counter seating facing the plaza/parking lot, no restroom (assuming sister KWBS will let you use theirs), & plenty of parking though it'll be challenging during lunch & dinner rush with so many eateries in the plaza. Andrew makes an awesomely refreshing Strawberry Matcha Latte that rivals those from boba shops! Balanced sweetness with earthy, grassy matcha & generous dollops of real, sweet strawberry purée... soooooo good! Though smaller & a bit pricier than boba shops, it's a top-notch drink. My pancakes came shortly after; smells great but looks nothing like the pic, not fluffy, not golden. I love eating pancakes no matter the time of day, & these Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes had comforting notes of cinnamony warmth with random sweet bursts of blueberries. The texture is notably moist & airy, & not reminiscent of typical gluten-free foods which are dry & dense. Typical bacon & eggs, nothing unusual... I prefer thick cut bacon & on the crisper side, but the eggs were perfectly cooked, the whites were set with a runny yolk & crisp, brown edges. It was just enough to satisfy my hunger & quench my thirst. I'm lucky that I don't have any food allergies or restrictions. People with celiac disease require a gluten-free diet, & cooking/baking challenges stem from the lack of gluten for moisture, elasticity, & structure. Customers should know that Confections by Kirari West is a dedicated gluten-free bakery, so there's no worries of cross-contamination. I don't know how Chef Hiro Saito creates this tasty, gluten-free deliciousness here & KWBS... he uses high quality rice flour instead of wheat to create his delectable pastries. On 07/2025, CBKW along with sister KWBS were both designated as a Blue Zones Project Approved Restaurant. This means they're certified to offer healthier, longevity-focused menu options based on plant-slant & whole-food principles like those in Okinawa, Japan or Sardinia, Italy. Quality ingredients... craftsmanship... & sincerity... check, check, & check!! Yeah, I got you in my corner Confections by Kirari West! Last weekend we took my in-laws to see the water and check out the area when they were visiting and when it came time for lunch Cafe Bonaparte was the place they chose. This cafe has a very beach style vibe and a menu that seems perfect for breakfast and lunch if you are in the mood for salads, baked goods, and sandwiches so that's exactly what we ordered. I kept it simple and ordered the Chicken Panini which has Marinated Chicken Breast, Melted Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Brown Mustard, and Mayo. I also got a bag of chips on the side but those were just lays so let's keep that out of the review. The food came out pretty quickly (that tends to happen with sandwiches and salads) and it was a perfectly fine panini. Even though the food was good, it didn't have any qualities that stood out, but it was solid and that's really all I can think of saying. Overall, Cafe Bonaparte is a solid little spot for sandwiches and salads. The service here was solid, the place itself has a nice environment, and it's location right next to the beach will have be back in the area many times, and maybe, just maybe, I'll have to check out the large baked good selection in the front.
