Ye's Ichiban has a very diverse menu but I stuck with sushi and tempura. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Especially since I wanted more sweet potato for my tempura. I really love the tempura - it was nice and crispy and had a flavorful dip! The sushi was OK. The tuna on top was a little soft for my liking. But overall, it had good flavor and good combination of ingredients. I will probably come back and try something else on the menu, especially since it's in my neighborhood. read more

I've lived in this area for 20 years, my previous experience here was not good but that was when they had the hibachi experience open for diners. They still do hibachi just not prepared before you. My meal was DELICIOUS, the portions were appropriate and my sushi was fresh. I now dine at least once a week for dinner, I used to dine an another hibachi place off 6 & West Rd but the quality has GREATLY decreased. My last two meals were un-eatable, heavily buttered and no seasoning. Run over to Y'es Ichiban, they won't disappoint; unless you're looking for a hibachi experience. We stopped there for the 1st time this week and what a nice and delicious surprise! The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. We had the crab puffs for appetizers and it was very flavorful. Stopped by Monday evening around 6:40 PM and had a great experience. The crab puffs were outstanding, easily some of the best in the area and better than Toro. The hibachi New York steak portion was large and cooked well, and the shaggy dog roll was excellent. We also had the udon noodles and a haramaki spring roll, both were solid. Beer was cold and good, service was attentive, and everything came out in a timely manner. One thing that stood out was the cleanliness, definitely better than most Japanese restaurants. Just visited Ye's Ichiban for the first time on a sushi craving, and my husband and I were SO impressed! The atmosphere was clean, beautiful, intimate, and cozy (despite the spacious size of the place). The sushi was really cheap AND really good, which is a WINNING combination! I had the Crunchy Roll and the California Roll, and my husband had the Philly Roll, the Scallop Nigiri, and the Yellowtail Nigiri. We would recommend all of them, and can't wait to come back and try more! And last but certainly not least, our server, Shelby, was very attentive, constantly coming by to see if we needed anything, quick to bring us what we asked for, and very friendly! I think most people may be scared away from a sushi spot like this because it's in a shopping center, but the quality fish is equivalent to your fine dining or upscale sushi restaurant. I've been to a lot of really nice sushi restaurants in Houston like Kata Robata, Kuu, Kaa, Noragami, Ume, MF, Nobu, and more. While all those restaurants are considered upper scale and have a different ambiance, the quality of fish is just as good and fresh at Yes Ichiban, but for a lower price. I am happy to say that my experience at Ye's Ichiban yesterday was much better than my previous visit about a year ago. These five stars are well-deserved! Though the individual hibachi tables are no longer, the hibachi grill was open again (hibachi dishes are made in the kitchen), and the sushi chef was clearly on top of his game! My wife and I ordered the Beef Yakisoba, the hibachi combo with New York Strip and shrimp, and a King Lobster Roll. Everything was great, and the King Lobster Roll was spectacular! That could well be the best sushi I've had! The service was quick. The atmosphere was perfect for either a romantic date or a dinner with friends, and the staff were all quite helpful. Based on the other reviews I'm seeing, my experience isn't an uncommon one. This is definitely worth trying, especially if you live in NW Houston. read more

I recently ordered several sets of sushi rolls at this place, hoping for a satisfying sushi dinner experience, but unfortunately, my expectations weren't met. While the staff was friendly and the ambiance inviting, the food left much to be desired. The rolls had a mushy texture that made them difficult to enjoy, and the rice was noticeably overcooked and bland, detracting from the overall flavor and presentation. Most disappointingly, some of the seafood seemed to be substituted with lower-quality or unidentifiable ingredients, which felt misleading for a sushi establishment. When I returned two sets of rolls to the restaurant and explained the problem, the manager said it was how most customers like sushi. Really? They should try sushi at other places to see what real, professionally made sushi tastes and looks like. What is even more discouraging, in response to my 1-star review on Google, the manager of Y'es Itchiban called me "a disrespectful and rude customer". Frankly, what I find truly disrespectful is trying to pass off subpar ingredients as authentic sushi. I appreciate the effort that goes into running a restaurant, but I believe there's significant room for improvement in the quality and authenticity of the dishes. read more

Visited during lunch time with my coworkers, we all agreed that the place is nice and not too loud or quiet. Hibachi side is closed but it's no big deal, we just sat at the tables and the chances of someone bumping into your chair are low as the space between tables is very spacious. Food was really good, I had the fried rice with steak, it was a pretty big portion. The side salad dressing is pretty good too. Our waitress was very nice and attentive for the amount of table she had at the time. We didn't have any issues while paying either, tips were included on the final receipt, with option to leave additional if you wanted to, otherwise you just sign and go, no math needed this time. Price is very reasonable for the amount of food and taste. I ordered the shrimp and calamari combo, and the meat came out drowning in oil. The fried rice tasted more like soy sauce than actual eggy fried rice. The soft shell crab was decent. The hand rolls were big but loaded with rice rather than the filling. My server was nice and accommodating. The restaurant needs to be cleaned better. The "clean" table was grimy and when I placed my menu on the table, a big spot of sauce in the corner that went unnoticed during the cleaning got onto the menu and spread everywhere. read more
