Hands down, this was the best experience we've ever had there and we've been countless times. Taylor is easily another reason we will return. The restaurant and staff are really nice. My steak was perfectly done. The crispy shrimp deviled eggs, au gratin potatoes and the drinks were good. The bread was not very good. I wish restaurants would move away from the pull apart rolls. I just want crusty bread with good butter. The creme brulee creamed corn was interesting. I think I prefer it savory. I ordered the Filet mignon and it was good but Perry's steak is better flavor wise. The sides were the most disappointing of all. The whipped Boursin potatoes are almost identical to boxed mashed potatoes. The macaroni and cheese was identical to boxed or velveeta. The red velvet dessert was ok, a bit too sweet and seems more like the frozen chocolate lava cakes you except red velvet. I couldn't believe it, I never thought I would have this kind of review but it is the honest truth. I will not be back here. It is not worth the hype. read more

My partner treated me to Steak 48 for a birthday dinner and we had a very pleasant time. The service was a clear standout. From the moment we walked in, they were welcoming and friendly, the server patiently explained their highlights and recommendations. It's clear the restaurant is very intentional about their food choices. The manager even wrote a personalized birthday card for me and gave us a follow up call the next day to check in on our experience which was very kind of them. In regards to the food, it was delicious but we didn't find it exceptional enough to justify the high price point. The meal started off with complimentary bread service that you could choose with sea salt or garlic parmesan topping. The bread was so fluffy, warm, and comforting. We ordered the Braised Pork Belly, which was surprisingly tender and juicy, and the sauce complimented it very well. We ordered the regular size bone-in KC Strip to share. It was a huge portion and they give you extremely hot plates so that the steak stays warm and sizzly on your plate once you eat it. We were pretty impressed by how juicy and tender it was. The corn creme brulee and Boursin cheese whipped potatoes we had as sides were great complements to the dish. At the end of our meal, they treated us with a complimentary Cookies and Cream Popcorn Sundae which was super unique and really delicious. I want to update my review because my last one was from years ago. I went last night for a girl's night and we had an interesting experience. For starters, they couldn't find our reservation and the lady up front was extremely rude to my friend. She told us she could add us to the long wait list, but we already had made reservations a week prior. After conversations back and forth we finally got our table. It was frustrating. When we got to our table, our server raquelle (idk how to spell her name) was interesting. She was nice at first, but at a certain point I'm not sure what we did wrong because she was so cold and would not give us the time of day? We ordered a bunch of sides, and a 12 oz halal steak. We then added another 12oz steak after discussing how 1 might not be enough for us. When I asked for her to add it on her attitude was a bit much. It made our experience awkward and not pleasant how it usually is. The food was good, no complaints there but the service really got to us. Then when it was time to pay it took 20 mins for her to get the bill and bring our card back. Idk she looked like she wanted us out so we left. Not our best experience at steak 48. F-A-N-C-Y Fancy folk, fancy cars (both revving in and away), fancy place, fancy yet delicious food. But F-A-N-C-Y. Like almost every patron here is putting on a show to go out to eat. Boobs out, jewelry sparkling, dressed to the 9s. For good reason, of course, because this is Steak 48. I had read a very apt article that this is the place to be and be seen and it was spot on. I'm not sure why it's like that but if you don't like that, you might want to pick another spot. But I chose Steak 48 because of all the great reviews and took 3 clients out last night and had a 'good' experience but not 'great'. And that's just based on the dining experience itself. Man, I really wanted to give this place 5 stars for the food and service but while the food was pretty darn delicious, the service really fell short midway through the meal. Like, our waiter just disappeared. Maybe the 7 employees at the entrance to greet and say goodbye to you could have stepped in to clear my plate or ask if we wanted another bottle of wine, an after dinner drink or even dessert (we weren't offered dessert but a few small crunchy chocolate chip cookies like you can find in the supermarket). Anyway, I'm just a little bitter about the service because our waiter was a nice man and very attentive at first but just darn ghosted us and this was a client dinner at a very fancy place and it should have been perfect. Now, as far as the food is concerned, like I mentioned, it was some of the best tasting grub I've had at a steakhouse. To start, we ordered six oysters ($33) that came with a ridiculous variety of dipping sauces in addition to horseradish and cocktail sauce. I did appreciate the multitude of dipping options but it did seem, well, over the top, which this place certainly is. The oysters were on the small side but tasty. We also had the Calamari ($27), Crispy Deviled Eggs ($24) and the Pork Belly ($24). The Calamari and the Pork Belly were the standouts for me and very nice. I liked the fried chilies with the Calamari and the flavor of the pork belly. The deviled eggs were just kind of standard topped with a small fried shrimp. They were good...I mean, who doesn't like a deviled egg? But they were average and nothing different than if you made 'em yourself, well, and added a fried shrimp on top. My pre-dinner cocktail was the El Tesoro Old Fashioned ($22) which our waiter recommended and it was fantastic. Even though it's made with tequila, it tasted more like an Old Fashioned and exactly what I was looking for. For dinner, I had the Bone-In Ribeye ($85) cooked rare and after being so underwhelmed at steakhouses considering my wife and I make fantastic steaks at home for much much less, this one actually impressed me. The char on the outside and the flavor of the ribeye was excellent. It was cooked perfectly. I did order the truffle butter ($9) for the table but I was the only one who tried it. It was good but not necessary. My clients ordered a Bone-In Strip ($82), the 12 oz. Filet ($82) and a Bone-In Ribeye as well and all enjoyed them as well. Sides: Au Gratin Potatoes ($24), Crab & Shrimp Mac ($52), Corn Brulee ($21) and the Creamed Spinach and Artichoke ($18). Of all of these, I feel we could have skipped the Au Gratin Potatoes which were actually recommended by the waiter. They were good but not amazing as the other sides were. The Mac was fantastic as was the Creamed Spinach and I enjoyed the addition of the artichoke but I couldn't actually see the pieces in there. The corn brulee....well, that was SICK. So good, almost like a dessert and bruleed on top...really a wonderful dish. Service was impeccable at the beginning of the meal and the army of staff are super quick to clear your plates and sometimes before you're done with them but that didn't bother me too much. What did bother me was that our bottle of wine was not delivered until we were well into eating our steaks (and I had to remind a server for it) and being completely being ghosted for 30 minutes after our meal. After dinner drinks and dessert were not offered. For a place like this and at such a high price point, man, well, things like that just shouldn't happen. I'm even considering taking two whole stars off for the service but I'll be nice and just remove one because I was satisfied with the food. Based on this experience, however, I would not recommend Steak 48. There are plenty of other options in town for a good steak with stellar service. read more

I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday dinner at Steak 48. The ambiance was beautiful and upscale without feeling stuffy. I especially loved that we were seated at a standard table rather than a high top, which made the experience feel more relaxed and comfortable for a longer dinner. Our waiter was incredibly kind and very attentive throughout the evening. The only small note is that the specials were delivered a bit quickly, but that was minor in the grand scheme of things. The cherry on top was receiving both a handwritten birthday card and a birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful and sweet touch and truly made the night feel special. This is one of my favorite steakhouses and I am a steak girly. Steak 48 is top two for me. The ambience is fine, dining, low-lit vibes. My only complaint is their parking situation. It's valet, street parking which is paid, or there's a garage behind the restaurant. I usually valet, but sometimes the line to valet is really long and that's annoying. I'm still drooling over the crab cakes and it's been days since my last visit!!!!! Let's start with the customer service, which was absolutely stellar! The recommendations, the patience and smiles were truly top tier! There is an upstairs and downstairs. We were upstairs and the area is beautiful. There is a bar up there too. I had a highly recommended Chardonnay and it was delicious. On to the food. I started out with my love for the crab cakes and yes!!! They are just that good! We dined at Steak 48 for our Thanksgiving. We had a lovely experience. The ambience is so luxurious and warm. The waiter was very thorough on explaining the menu and specials. The options for steak is the largest selection you will find in Texas. We went all out and ordered h the 46oz bone-in wagu tomahawk. It was easily shareable with 4 people after the rolls and a couple sides. We ordered the macaroni and it was amazingly cheesy. We would definitely visit again and try their dry aged ribeye. This was my very first time at Steak 48, and we went with some of our work partners -- honestly, it was an experience from start to finish. Arrival & Atmosphere Parking was easy, and they offer valet if you prefer. When we walked inside, we grabbed a few drinks at the bar before heading upstairs. Every person who brought something out explained what it was, how it was prepared, and made sure we were taken care of. I have been wanting to try steak 48 for quite a while now and on my birthday I figured it was time to treat myself along with my wife and my mother. We were all very excited because we took a look at the menu beforehand and had quite a few things we wanted to try. Upon an arrival we were greeted very kindly and we showed up early for our reservation and were still seated with 60 seconds at 7:30 on a Friday so that was fantastic. The guy running drinks was nice and even had recommendations for us before the server even got there. Our server was very good as well. The low rating has absolutely nothing to do with the staff to be honest with you, you have great people working at Steak 48. The overall problem unfortunately was the food. We started off with the hanging bacon and at first it was very good and had sweet and salty flavors and it was very thick and juicy, but after a few bites it became incredibly salty, so salty it became inedible but we just boxed it up and took it home. The Chicken Fried Lobster was actually very good, top marks for that appetizer. The Entrees however ranged from underwhelming to downright gross. I got one the ribeye on special that night and while it was cooked very well on the inside, the outside was charred and every bite just tasted like charcoal. I got the crab cake Oscar topping with it and at first didn't realize it but the crab had almost an expired taste to it, which I'm sure is not the case but man was it fishy and a very strong odor with it. My Wife got the KC strip with the crab cake Oscar as well, her steak was over salted/seasoned for her liking but I ate it because my steak was so bad I couldn't eat it. My mother got a salad entree, I'm not sure which one it was but she could not muscle it down, the egg they had sent with it was also very fragrant in all the wrong ways. Last but not least, the dessert, the dessert was the red velvet bread pudding, which actually was really tasty, only problem was that there was not nearly enough ice cream and the bottom of the dessert was so hot I had to move it around my mouth and it scalded the bottom of my tongue and I could no longer taste it. I received a call from the restaurant yesterday and I told the lady on the other end that the service was great but we were disconnected before I was able to speak with her, no problem, just saying. On top of that, the plate was so hot that it made the food difficult to enjoy right away--I actually burned my tongue trying to eat within a few minutes. I'd definitely recommend waiting at least 10 minutes before eating. The sides are served family-style, which could be nice in some settings, but transferring them to my plate only made everything even hotter and harder to eat comfortably. Overall, the experience didn't meet expectations, especially considering we spent a couple hundred dollars. I finally made it to Steak 48 to try out their much talked about steaks. The first thing you might notice as you walk in is the wall of nearly 50 vintage meat cleavers. The night I visited, the place was packed, but that's a good sign for a steakhouse. We had a short wait and then we were escorted upstairs. The host leading you to your table upstairs will ask if you would like to take the stairs or the elevator. I took the stairs, good choice, so I can see yet another massive wall of meat cleavers. We were seated in a semi secluded section at the front overlooking Westheimer on one side and the stairwell on the other side. Once seated, they immediately ask if you want white or black napkins. Then I was handed a hand written birthday card, similar to what I had read about In other reviews...which is a nice touch. We decided on the bacon appetizer, a ginger peach cocktail and the 22oz bone in ribeye. For sides, I went fairly classic and did the loaded baked potato and brussel sprouts. This combination ended up being a bacon overload, as I clearly didn't think this through before ordering. Even as a bacon lover, this is way too much bacon for one meal. The ginger cocktail was mostly ginger and not much peach. I prefer it to be peach forward. Unfortunately, the ginger beer in this overpowers most other flavors. They provide a birthday dessert on the house at the end of the meal, which they tell you up front, so of course I tried that. The hanging bacon is just that, 4 massively thick strips of what seemed more like pork belly than bacon with a nice light honey glaze dripping down onto the board as you sit and talk. After another 15 or 20 mins, the main course comes out. The nice thing about fancy restaurants is they do a lot for you. The brussel sprouts were scooped onto my plate for me. They indicate that when the steak comes to the table, it will be on a sizzling 500 degree skillet, which I never saw. Mine just came on a regular plate. They don't ask you to cut your steak to make sure its cooked right....luckily it was. The steak was very hot when I took my first bite, which was really nice. I was not that impressed with the brussel sprouts appetizer. Not because I had already eaten so much bacon from the appetizer, just because it had no wow factor and it was small. The steak was cooked very nicely and very tender. The baked potato was large and nicely cooked. It almost seemed like a twice baked potato, but they said it wasn't. Loaded with more bacon, I just ate a little and didn't see any wow factor in this dish. I should have stuck with my original pick and chose the signature potatoes au gratin, one item they're know for. I knew I couldn't eat too much of the main entree, to save room for the dessert, so I didn't. The one thing I did not like was our table position. It happened to be next to the pos system and a bus boy stand/tray where they stack dirty dishes temporarily, and they also plate the leftover food in togo boxes for other tables in that section of 5 tables, so you may have dirty dishes (from 4 other tables) literally 2 feet from your table at a few different times throughout the meal, then also see the bus boy cramming other tables' food into togo boxes. Kind of strange to see right next to your table for such a fancy steakhouse. It comes time to order the dessert and they give me the option to take it to go, or eat it there. They provided me a new plate, silverware and a menu but I never indicated which I would do. Some restaurants have a dedicated "birthday dessert" and for some reason I assumed this was one of them. I looked over the menu because I thought they wanted me to order a 2nd one. They didn't clearly indicate that the birthday dessert was my choice and I could pick from the 6 or 7 different options. The only thing they made clear is that their signature desserts were the red velvet bread pudding and the warm vanilla caramel cake. I initially told our waiter no, I didn't want a 2nd dessert. He then told me that it's my choice. I had already reviewed the dessert menu at home and was favoring the caramel cake, so I chose that one. The dessert is actually a yellow cake with the nuts, caramel and vanilla gelato on top in a small dish on the plate. On the remainder of the plate is fresh whipped cream along with a birthday message written in chocolate. That dessert was really good and one of my favorite items to eat all night. Just when you think you are done, as they bring the check, they also bring out freshly baked small chocolate chip cookies So after a few hiccups, we still ended up having a nice experience and would return to try other dishes. As I was leaving, I walked by another table that had ordered a different dessert which was mounted on a metal stand and each dish was stuck to the stand like ornaments on a tree. Not a stranger to steak 48 live in the galleria area ..just my first review celebrated my nephews bday here was his first time as well as a few other guest first time... valet quick and easy even at the highest peak times. We had reservations everything was ready to go when arrived. Seated us right away . Love the ambiance per usual. Friendly staff. Good service . Food everyone absolutely loved their dishes. Only hang up I had about the food were the meatballs which happen to be what I ordered ..... they come naked with marinara sauce on the side to me very dry not juicy as I'm sure could be . I tried ordering the melted blue cheese to give taste I was able to eat 1. I doubt I would order it again unless they introduce a whole new recipe for it.aside from the meatballs, eveything else was delightful. One other detail when packaging food to go seemed a bit messy. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a really great time overall. Parking was a little tricky, but if you plan on using valet it's honestly not a big deal. The inside is dark and intimate, they do have a dress code (just don't wear athleisure wear). Our server was very attentive without constantly checking in, which made it easy to just enjoy the food and hang out. The food was incredible like always. We started with the hamachi appetizer, which was super fresh and citrusy, and the pork belly appetizer that had a sweet chili-type glaze that I really enjoyed. We also shared the Caesar salad. For mains, we ordered the 12 oz filet mignon and the 12 oz NY strip. Both steaks were cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and had an amazing seared crust on the outside. For sides, the corn crème brûlée is a must every single time. The sweetness mixed with the steak juices is just so good. We also ordered the shells and cheese, which was good but nothing crazy. The creamed spinach and chef's au gratin potatoes were kind of disappointing, the spinach tasted like bacon and the au gratin potatoes were basically just cheesy potatoes. I'd skip those if you're choosing between sides. This was for a table of three, and I'd recommend sticking to maybe two sides and adding another appetizer instead. They also brought out a complimentary red velvet cake for the birthday girl, which was a nice surprise. It's warm and on the sweeter side, but still really good. Overall, great service, amazing steaks, and a solid spot for a special occasion. Would definitely come back. read more

Steak 48 Houston was fantastic for my husband's birthday. Service was spot‑on as always -- our server checked in just enough, and the whole team made the night feel special. I started with their Old Fashioned (excellent), and the chicken‑fried lobster was crispy and delicious with that aioli. My filet mignon was perfectly tender, and those warm rolls are impossible to resist. We shared the Brussels sprouts and au gratin potatoes, both great choices, and enjoyed a glass of Belle Glos Pinot Noir. We finished with the warm caramel vanilla cake -- amazing. The ambiance was perfect too, with the Galleria skyline at sunset and a great mix of 70s/80s R&B and rock. We both had a perfect evening. read more

I decided to celebrate my boyfriend birthday here. Everything was awesome. We parked on side of the street for free. We were greeted and guided to our table upstairs. Our waiter was super attentive. The hand written birthday card was a bonus. The food was delicious. We did not have one bad thing. My boyfriend was amazed at his steak. I had the pork belly and it was soooo good. Came to Steak 48 in Houston for my birthday dinner and had a great experience. My boyfriend and I shared a ribeye (medium-well). I'm not even a steak person -- I usually order chicken -- but I actually ate a good amount and really enjoyed it. We ordered the sweet potato soufflé, mac & cheese, and corn. Everything was equally good. The sweet potato soufflé was smooth, creamy, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. The mac & cheese was rich with nicely toasted breadcrumbs, and the corn was solid. Only disappointment was the rolls. They weren't bad, just nothing special. Texas Roadhouse still has the best rolls . Service was top tier, and overall Steak 48 absolutely delivered. It rivals Little Alley Steak in ATL, which says a lot coming from me. Great birthday dinner. read more

Tonight, I had the 8 ounce steak cooked medium rare. My table shared Brussel sprouts, corn cream brûlée, & hassleback potatoes. We do split complimentary rolls, fried deviled eggs and crispy shrimp from the appetizer list. All tasted amazing!! Dessert was Warm Caramel Cake which was Fabulous! Perfect location for a date night or special occasion! We made reservations the same day on a Sunday night. We arrived and was greeted by valet who parks your car as part of the experience. We were sat upstairs and were given the option to use the stairs or the elevator! Talk about luxury and accessibility! We started with drinks and I had a wonderfully made old fashioned with a monogrammed ice cube. We were welcomed with warm bread and got a few appetizers including deviled eggs and pork belly. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I got a steak while my date got fried fish. I am not a seafood eater but it was actually the best fried fish I've ever had. My steak was cooked excellently. We had many sides including mac and shells, asparagus, and sweet potato mash. I have no complaints, criticism, or comments. I was absolutely blown away how good this meal was from start to finish. Unlike any other steak restaurant I've been to. We were given cookies even after not ordering dessert as we were stuffed! They have excellent individual restrooms with beautiful full length mirrors and perfect lighting. I took the best photos! To top it all off the restaurant called me the next day to thank me for dining with them. I was so touched by this simple but deeply thoughtful gesture! Steak 48 stands out against the rest. First time eating at a restaurant like this. Made a reservation and the process was pleasant. I got a call prior to my reservation as well as a follow up call after the reservation. Order the butchers cut steak and the crispy shrimp. Steak was a solid 8/10 and the shrimp were a 8/10 as well. Parking is not bad if you opt in for valet. Dimly lit and quiet. read more

Loved this place! We went for a birthday and started off with a hand written note from the manager which was so thoughtful. Our server was great, super knowledgeable about allergies (one of us is GF) and the whole menu is marked so it's super easy to order! Also loved my cocktail, got the California citrus martini and it was amazing and they refilled me directly from the shaker which I loved! Food was delicious and loved the vibes, only giving 4 stars because of the price... it's pricey but worth it! read more

Dress code: Business Casual, with emphasis on dinner jackets and upscale attire for patrons Ambiance: Dimly lit, great date spot, wine cellar has a slew of wine/brew selections (basement of restaurant) Food: Steak is the restaurant's main attraction, and the restaurant takes pride in using local farmers and aging processes to serve the best cuts of meats Service: Impeccable--you will have at least one to two waiters/waitresses assigned to you for any need, including cutlery replacement and tablecloth recovery. Made a resy ahead of time via open table. It's been at least 6 years since i've been back and I can see why it's still sitting pretty. We were seated upstairs, which the hostess's walked us to the elevator and took us to our seats. Started off with a classic margarita with tajin on the rim and it was made pretty strong (good thing). For apps, they brought out some complimentary garlic butter and sea salt bread and we ordered the pork belly (baked nicely and sweet chilli flavoring over a bed of spinach). For my main, I got the Bone-in Veal Chop (cooked as a nice medium rare, super tender and seasoned well), Seabass (very flaky and great texture from the crumbs), Bone-in 22oz rib-eye w/ truffle butter on the side (seasoned and cooked to perfection/juicy and the truffle butter was a great addition). For sides, I deff recommend the corn brûlée (exactly how it's named) and the fire roaster cauliflower (had a nice creamy sauce it sat on top of). I could've probably went without the crab and shrimp mac (the crab had too much fishy/sea taste, did not fancy that). Ended with a complimentary birthday dessert - Red Velvet Bread Pudding (a must have), can't beat the combo of icecream and a warm bread pudding. Our server was Andraes and he was attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Had some great recs as well. Atmosphere is very fancy. You may even run into some celebrities. So this was a pretty underwhelming experience, not going to lie. I've been wanting to go here for a long time and I've just never had the chance, but I did end up going on Valentine's Day this year and it just didn't quite meet my expectations. Firstly, I'll say the ambience and inside of the restaurant just wasn't quite as lively as I was expecting and maybe that's not really what they advertise it as but that's just what I thought. It just felt like any other restaurant that you can go to and I feel like the steak 48 name definitely is associated with being a little bit more special than any old restaurant and that's just not how I felt about the ambience. My food was unfortunately just pretty mediocre. The first steak that they brought for me to me was overcooked and just was not flavorful. It wasn't seasoned enough. It was juicy, but it just didn't have much flavor at all. I really wouldn't have enjoyed it if that's all that I stuck with. I also got mac & cheese as well.. obviously this isn't like a soul food restaurant so there's no reason to expect it to be the best mac & cheese ever but it was like the most plain mac & cheese that I've had in a very long time. It was very creamy, but it just wasn't really like cheesy and again just wasn't really seasoned enough to me. I felt like I needed to add more salt and pepper just to give it any sort of kick and without it it just completely felt like a waste of time to eat. I did eventually express my thoughts towards my meal because my waiter did ask and that brings me to my next point, which is that the service was really good. Our waiter, I could tell, genuinely cared and immediately got me a new steak per his recommendation and it did taste much better. Still not the best steak I've ever had, but it did taste much better than my last one for sure. I was actually able to enjoy it. He also got me a free side so I was able to try the corn crème brûlée as well and that was actually pretty good. It was really sweet, which is to be expected. I did feel like it was a little bit runny, but it was actually good. I will say out of everything I ordered that was probably the best thing on the menu for me. The manager also came by our table as well. I guess our waiter explained that I had an issue and he wanted to understand what was going on and he also seemed like he really cared too. He was actually the one that initiated me getting a side and so that definitely again showed that they cared. It really made me feel better because it was a little annoying at first to want to go to this restaurant and I've been wanting to go for a long time and then when I finally did, it just didn't meet my expectations. It was also Valentine's Day too and it's an expensive restaurant so putting all those together you of course wanna have the best experience ever and it just didnt meet that but service wise I will definitely tell them they completely blew it out of the water. By the end of our meal they actually did not charge me for any of my steaks and did not charge me for of course the extra side they gave me and I was in complete shock. Of course it's expensive so I would expect that they wouldn't be willing to take off a whole steak but they did and so I really appreciated that and that definitely made up for a lot of my initial concerns. read more
