Lovely clean atmosphere, pleasant music, NO TV'S, and super attentive helpful server (though service did start to lag at the end, surely because it was only one person). Really great curries and tandoori, the latter of which you might call "Himalayan fajitas?" The family who runs the place is also awesome, I'm happy to support them. Favorite dishes: veggie pakora, chefs special lamb curry, daal (best daal I've ever had!), saag (any one of them). Has nice outdoor seating but there were flies everywhere. I mean everywhere I was swishing them away the whole meal. The food was very very average at best. The garlic naan was very plain tasting and was pretty much white bread with garlic piled on top. The tandoori chicken isn't vary savory and it is served in a hot plate with cabbage and other lame vegetables. All together very very bland. The food ranged from bad to mediocre. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and the chicken korma thali. The korma was ok, but not fresh. It tasted like it was from a package. The vindaloo was bland and sweet, similar to the sauce in a can of Spaghettios. The dal was like water. The naan was crispy, except where it was doughy. I've been here a few times... And every time they've had misleading coupons. They have one right now for 15% off your purchase and no where did it say in any fine print that you need to spend a minimum of $20-- false advertisement. The other times we went they had mango lassi specials and said they aren't doing it anymore-- but still had the sign up for it. And even though all the misleading deals were their own fault they still didn't comply. So don't believe any coupons from them!!! Also, their food is very overpriced. If you want very good Indian food and are willing to drive 10-15 mins go to Shalimar!!! Their food is 50% cheaper and you get so much more!!!! Or even locally namaste Nepal is better. Customer service here sucks, like I said I've been a few times and so have a lot of my Indian friends their always rude and super slow. Ahhh the worst part--- the tables are horrible!!! They are like super glue sticky, it's disgusting! And the utensils are always not washed properly and they stick to the table. So does the menu and my arms... Everything sticks! A humble, friendly family runs this place. Seriously, I've been in Davis for five years and this is still my favorite restaurant here. The Prawn Tikka Marsala is excellent, especially with some naan bread added in. Spicy food enthusiasts would be happy to know they will bring on the heat if you ask them. This food is the opposite of dull, so the unadventurous & homogeneous in taste might want to check somewhere else out! One thing I noticed is that their delivery service can be a bit iffy. It is almost as though they don't want to hire a delivery guy and rely on sending out one of their staff, leaving the restaurant short one person. I got the saag chicken lunch special and everything in it was pretty good. It came with the following: an embarrassing excuse for a starter salad (which wasn't even worth eating), a Nepalese potato salad (which wasn't my favorite but I'm sure some people like it), a garbanzo bean curry (good flavor a but the beans were a bit undercooked), a tandoori chicken leg (yum), a daal soup (outstanding), and the saag chicken. The saag chicken dish was yummy but not what I expected. I figured it would be like traditional saag paneer but with chicken instead of paneer. Rather than the creamy puréed spinach dish I expected, it had whole spinach leaves in it and a lot of filler ingredients like tomato and something else that I thought might be garbanzo. The chicken was cooked well. The service was alright, but I was bothered that the manager told the waitress that I wasn't allowed to order saag paneer on the lunch special, even though they had both saag and paneer items listed on the lunch menu (how hard could it be to throw the paneer in rather than chicken?). Overall, I think it's a great deal for only $8. I give this place about 3.5 stars, but I'll round up because the price is so good for Indian food. read more

Fantastic food! I've been to a few Nepalese places before and this place is, by far, the best. Everything is handmade (you can see them in the kitchen; I love that transparency) and the taste is fantastic. We ordered the vegetarian sampler appetizer, which I highly recommend, and several dishes. It is also great that they have so many vegan options; so often, American restaurants put cream in everything that resembles curry to mask poor ingredients and flavor profiles; not so here. Went to lunch with my friends and we had an awesome experience. I can't remember the name of our waiter but she was super nice and courteous. I ended up having to send my salad back as I didn't realize it was served with meat (I'm vegetarian). She was super sweet and made sure I wasn't charged and quickly got my new entree out. Tried this place out for the first time and overall it was a great visit. My family and I were craving some Indian food and my sister had a coupon and recommended this place. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy. The samosas were very good and I love the chutneys it came with. Delicious mango lassi too! Everyone love their entrees! I ordered the saag paneer, as I love spinach. I enjoyed the flavors and it had just the right amount of spice. It came with Basmati rice. For $3.00 more, you get a small portion of lentil soup, the vegetable curry of the day, plain naan, and dessert. I went that route and I think it was worth it. We were pretty hungry, so nothing went to waste. I did like my sister's garlic basil naan better. Luckily she shared. More importantly, their card machine wasn't reading my card and the attitude was really weird like I was trying to cheat them. To be honest, I expected a lot better when I walked through the door. The interior decor was very Indian, but the tables and kitchen were not the best. They only had a single bathroom near this sketchy storage area, and the whole restaurant in general was really small, although they do have outdoor seating. What really threw me off edge was how slow the service was. There were literally just 2 groups in the restaurant (mine and this group of 4 who ordered well before we came). We had a hotel to get to and they took what felt like 1 hour to get the food ready. We got there around 8pm and I'm pretty sure we didn't leave before 9:30pm. I can't imagine what'll happen if there were to be a crowd. However, the food was very satisfying. My favorites were the bread basket, curry, and momos. If I were to come back, it'd solely be for the food. Even though it was good, this is definitely not an Indian restaurant i'd keep on my favorites list. read more

It was a day with my family, I still remember. And what actually we were looking for is the spicy Vegetarian Momos ( Tibetan Dumpling). Yeti Restaurant is something that fits our day taste. We arrived there around 7:00 in the evening and trust me it's really a busy evening there. At least expecting no place inside the restaurant but yes they made some table arrangements outside. It look so beautiful and feel chill too when expecting spicy Momos in such pleasant outside evening environment. I really like there menu and serving service but the only thing for which I give four star is that it's a managed restaurant even in the small space. Ohh coming back to topic Momos, something I miss in it is spicy taste and one important thing I notice is a oily flavor in Momos which I mean I am not at all expecting. First - the ONLY reason this is a 4-star review instead of 5: teach your staff to stop calling people "sweetie" I love the food here, and you can't beat the value of the lunch special, which is a thali with plenty of options and sizeable portions for under $10. The mild paneer Tikka masala is truly mild, which is something I don't frequently find. The menu is expansive and the food tastes fresh and delicious. The taste wasnt as flavorful as I expected but if you want a lot of chicken, the shwarma and salad had plenty. The restaurant is a converted home and there is only one bathroom so during one of their periodic rushes, you may think about going before you come here. The nan bread was so well done so naturally the MoMo dumplings and everything else fell in line. As in most places the bread signals whether they care (a truly great burger joint pays attention to its bread and doesn't serve bread that doesn't go bad after 7 weeks and is wrapped in plastic) the nan was super nice. I'm not even a nan connoisseur but it's like fried rice that done right: just the right amount of oil, not too much salt. They have proper takeout boxes too! I've only been to Yeti a couple of times (infrequently), but it is one of my favorite places to eat in Davis. I usually only go on special occasions (my birthday last year) or whenever I'm wanting food that I know I will enjoy (in other words, not wanting to take risks elsewhere). On my most recent dinner visit with my boyfriend, we had the Vegetarian Couples Special and everything was really delicious! Not to mention, in great portions too! I think it came out to a little over $40 with tip, which I think was worth it considering how much food we got (we couldn't finish it, so I took it home). We had appetizers, entrees and a small dish for desert. I had it with their house white wine, which was okay. The paneer tikka masala was yummy and their garlic naan was made to perfection! Their service is really good. It's definitely part of the reason why I like to come here. They are attentive (sometimes overly so, but I don't mind) and polite. Like people have mentioned previously, there seems to be a language barrier, so it is kind of hard to get them to explain to you what you're eating if you're new to Indian/Nepalese food. I was really craving Indian food tonight so dragged my husband and baby to this place. We had vegetable pakora, chicken tikka masala, chicken taandori. and a plain naan. Pakora was not too flavorful but fine. The chicken in the tikka masala was really dry and tough but the sauce was very tasty. The best dish was the chicken taandori. It had little charred bits and a nice seasoning. But it is served on a beautiful sizzling iron plate which was full of iceberg salad that just cooked and was rather inedible. The service was nice, a little on the clueless side but decent. The wood tables are a bit sticky and need a good scrub down though. Paid around 40 bucks including the tip we is ok too. This little place has to work hard to stand out in the crowded restaurant scene in Davis. The menu serves traditional Indian cuisine with some Nepalese entrees as well. First you start with a beverage. A reasonable selection of Indian, Thai beers with at least one from Nepal. As with most things in this "college" town, service is low key but prompt. In our party of three, we had Chicken Tikka Marsala, Prawns in Basel sauce and Paneer Tikka Marsala. Two of us had ours a la carte which comes with either rice or naan bread. Our third decided to have it Thali style which means it comes with the rice, naan and a variety of small side dishes. Tip for ordering - make sure you specify your spice tolerance. I had mine medium which was perfect for me who loves putting Franks Red Hot Sauce on most things. All the expected flavors were there. Nothing exotic but nothing that was bland. Helpful service added to the enjoyment of this evenings meal. So, a solid 4 rating for both food and service. Nothing extraordinary but all very good. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go downtown for Friday night and stumbled across Yeti. Courtyard seating was available and the restaurant was romantically light - so we decided to take a seat. We ate dinner, while a band played jazz music in the courtyard. The combination of good food and fun music created an amazing environment. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. We each ate chicken tikka masala with an order of garlic cilantro naan, which is the best naan I've ever had. I also really appreciated the service. The waiter was attentive and was very friendly. The only reason I decided to give Yeti four star instead of five was price. I would love if Yeti offered an affordable lunch buffet like other local Indian restaurants in Davis. We are sitting on the most delightful terrace of yeti in downtown Davis ca. If the food wasn't so dreadfully bad we would be having the time of our lives. This is where I took my mom when she came to visit me in Davis - I think that speaks for itself, right? The samosas and the garlic naan are favorites and I get them every single time, but I like to switch up entrees and try new things. The menu is clearly marked to show which dishes are vegetarian/vegan and which ones can be modified to be so, which is major brownie points from me. The portions are on the smaller side, I always leave satisfied but if you have a monstrous appetite you may not. It's a sit-down, full-service place but it doesn't feel too formal and the prices are really not too high. If you split appetizers and get one entree each you can manage a dinner for two under $25!
