Sesame naan and garlic naan
Stacey F.

This was our first visit! The short of it: Food was okay, had lots of flavor, and the ambiance could use some work. 3.5 stars for this first trip. The full story: There was another group in the restaurant who seemed to be enjoying themselves and their meal. I loved the music playing in the background and it was at a volume that was festive but still low enough that my hubby and I could still converse comfortably. Loved that! The place itself was a bit shabby and haphazard. The floors are badly scuffed, the decorative mirrors were grimy and full of handprints, and you couldn't quite decipher if this was an order at the counter and go kind of place or a nice sit-down restaurant. Service was okay. One hostess clearly was willing to answer questions and provide support when asked, but didn't go out of her way to ask or offer herself. But no one was unpleasant or unkind. Food came out piping hot and smelled great! The curry dishes don't come with rice (didn't know), so we belatedly added an order of saffron rice to our goat karahi and chicken tikka masala. The goat curry had a really yummy, spicy sauce, but the goat meat came on the bone in small pieces that were a devil to get off. I'm not sure if we should have picked them up with our fingers and eaten them like spare ribs? It was awkward. The tikka masala was not our favorite. It was a little too sweet and had the opposite issue with the protein--the chicken was so overcooked that it turned to mush in my mouth. The saffron rice was mushy, as were the chickpeas that were in it. The vegetable samosas had really tasty filling and were broiling hot. The texture of the dough was a bit mealy, like cornflour paste, but was really flavorful. The star of the meal were the two orders of naan. We got garlic and sesame and they were to die for.

Lahori Garlic Naan

Super excited to try this spot after first hearing about it. Sadly and unfortunately, I had to give this place a 2/5 star. The flavor of the food was pretty good, but there were plenty of misses too. The Lamb Kabab Karahi and the Special Lahorian Chicken Karahi tasted like the same sauce. The chicken in the Special Lahorian Chicken Karahi was half bone. The garlic nann and mango lassi were good. Altogether, I probably wouldn't want to dine in again because the service was very underwhelming - so much so that I was inspired to write this review. Don't get me wrong. The food is still good, but I'll likely order to-go, and I'd avoid getting the chicken unless you're looking to boil some chicken broth.

Excellent service and delicious foods. Found a good place for Indian cuisine in woodland

Chicken tikka Masala

Yummy & spicy food,, the food came out very hot. The naan was good & tasted great with the Chicken Tikka Masala and Goat Karahi. There was a non spicy & spicy option. We chose spicy and we could feel it in our stomach bc it definitely has a kick. It was a little too spicy that I couldn't taste the flavor much but it was still good as is. The Goat was definitely spicier than the Tikka Masala The service was friendly in suggesting for newcomers & the setting was clean.

Pani Puri

The other night we happened to be in woodland at dinner time so we checked Yelp to see what awesome restaurant we might be able to visit for a memorable culinary experience. We all agreed on Max Taste after reading the reviews. The 4 star rating is based on the quality and taste of the food. The service was not the best and the speed at which the food came out was kind of extended. When the young man taking our order arrived at the table the first thing I asked for was two vegetable samosas. Then I asked for some guidance on the menu. At that point a more mature, friendly gentleman came to the table to help describe some of the dishes. We decided to try a traditional Indian appetizer called Pani Puri, which turned out to be pretty good; (this came out about 10 minutes after we ordered). We ended up ordering chicken malai boti (pretty good), chicken tikka masala (excellent!), Lahori chicken Karahi (good), a seekh kabab (okay), rice, butter naan (good), and garlic naan (awesome). They don't serve ice water, so you have to buy bottled water. The food takes quite some time to come.... And some of it never makes it! I asked the boy who started taking our order about the samosas, and he said we didn't order them. At this point entrees had started coming so I said don't worry about it and decided to skip it. Overall the food was good, with a couple of excellent items. The staff was hit and miss. Not very attentive, but they will accommodate if you ask for specific items like napkins or flatware. I will probably be back because those excellent items really were excellent!

They have very good food very clean The Workr is good all they talking good I really like spicy food. That's my favorite restaurant.

It was one of those nights, out with the boys. Looking for some to eat, this time in woodland. Although popular for their Hispanic culture we were feeling adventurous and sought out to explore a different type of cuisine. MAX TASTE stood out to us with their bold name. So we promptly made our way there. Upon arriving the vibes were immaculate, with the best love Hindi song playlist playing in the background. Plenty of options, a little bit expensive but what really threw me off was. the MAX WAIT TIME. We did wait quite a bit for the food to be done. Food was great tho and I recommend. Take it from this football state champ himself (pic attached).

Woodland staple! Best halal spot in the area. Very spicy, kinda pricey but always worth it!

Outstanding and delicious food for great price. Malai boti is a must and fresh butter naan are just out of the world.

Visited July 18 2026. See my receipt…read more I have been wanting to try something different and this certainly hit the mark! It is located in Yuba City ( few doors down from Huckleberrys). I am finding that I like Naan and so I ordered 2 chicken naan tacos with All The yummy toppings they have ( included..no extra cost). The tacos are vibrant with color with corn..cilantro I think..and so much more. The naan was fluffy and slightly toasted. It was tasty! The only issue is I asked for white meat chicken but I got dark meat which I can't stand! I picked out the chicken and basically had a vegan taco. My boyfriend ate the other one and he loved it ( he likes dark meat). There are alot of options at this Indian infused restaurant. They have inside seating as well. Drinks are also available. The gentleman that prepared my tacos was very pleasant! Place is very clean inside!

We took quite some time to choose something as the staff answered our questions and made suggestions. I wish we could say that we have a picture of our food but upon receiving it we devoured it. We got the chicken naan tacos which seems to be the new comers bread and butter. I tell you what, the reviews do not lie. We will be back.

As a former UC Davis student and current Davis resident, it's crazy to see how far Shaws has come!…read moreI remember when Shaws and star Ginger were the only food trucks on campus and it was such a great meal at a good deal. Now they have their own storefront with a ton more options to customize your meal, and more options and things to order overall. The storefront is not huge, but I don't think it needs to be. It's clean and pretty well organized. The service is also fine. I ordered a combo rice bowl and was glad to be able to add extra toppings like tomatoes in the such. Now, the one thing that they don't do like the old truck used to do is load up with sauce. The old truck used to drown your bowl in sauce whereas now they're a little more conservative, but I imagine you could ask for more if you wanted more. The bowl itself tasted good. It's not going to be the best Halal food that you'll get in Davis or anywhere else in the world, but it tasted nostalgic, and I really enjoyed the whole thing. My husband who is currently on campus more than I am noted that the storefront gives you more food than the food truck at the silo. He also said that the food tasted better here.

The fries, on the other hand, were genuinely great. Parking lot is undersized for the number of businesses in the mall -- plan to arrive early or come by bike.
