    Ham breakfast taco 12/6/25
    Emily A.

Didn't know what to expect due to the slightly strange area of The Woodlands this is in, a lot of corporate but sort of open spaces and not much else around this particular street. However it is right across from the hotel I'm staying at the Marriott CityPlace so decided to try it out. Thrilled I did. Offering a bright welcoming atmosphere, not busy at all so surprised at the size of the place, assuming it gets busy during hotel conferences, love the "island vibes" chairs and lights... on to the food they offer a gluten free pita which the employee suggest led I try instead of a smaller corn tortilla for my breakfast taco. Very good, has a slight rosemary flavor which it appears to have in it. I also ordered an NA strawberry mint refresher. SO.GOOD. Gorgeous bar with three small TVs. Just a really beautiful open lots of light restaurant. Nice and welcoming employees. Counter service. I'll probably return tomorrow.

    Gyro Pita (not a fan)
    Dave F.

I had a craving for a gyro so I got on Yelp to search for the goods. I landed on Island Grill. When I walked in, the place seemed a mix of trendy and "cafe-ey." Of course I ordered the gyro. When the food came out, I was so disappointed. The gyro clearly came from a package - from a restaurant supply. My preference is gyro that is freshly sliced from a vertical rotisserie - sliced thin with a slight char. All of the gyro was pretty much equal in size and shape. The tzatziki was also a bit liquidy for my taste. Overall, I was not a fan. While the staff was polite, I was pretty turned off by the default gratuity options when paying. It started with 18% and went up from there. Not a big deal when dining, but the customer must order at the counter, they must get their own drinks and refills, so that default tip setting didn't make sense to me. There are more authentic options in the area. Not a fan.

Seasonal cocktail menu 2025 - yummmm

I love this place. It's funny, since it's not a "nice" or "high end" Mediterranean joint, but it succeeds perfectly at what it aims to be: a quicker, easier alternative to a serious Mediterranean outing that still tastes fresh and well made, is priced fairly, and comes with great service. While literally everyone I've dealt with here is great, Allison is my person. She was tending bar the first time I visited, which was... early 2024, I think? Now I know she does it all, literally. Take orders, wait tables, sling cocktails, clean at the end of her shift... And she does it with a great attitude and customer-centered mindset. She rocks. My regular go-to's are an avocado chicken pita pocket thing, a protein shake, and avocado toast (add egg and feta). Not at all once, of course - each is plenty on its own. And the bar!! Ah, the bar. For a chill, order-up-front-&-take-a-number place, this place has a GREAT bar! Great cocktails. Seriously. I recommend the old fashioned, espresso martini (which I rarely recommend anywhere), and the paloma is pretty good, too. Decent little wrap-around patio, too. I met the "Area Director," Amir, a couple of times, too - cool dude. Fresh, fast, good service, friendly people, family owned and operated. Get some!

    Wild Cod - woohoo
    Melinda L.

Was looking for a quick protein boost after a workout. This restaurant caught my eye because they had a signboard that indicated they serve wild codfish. It was unusual to find a fish pita at a Mediterranean restaurant, especially a good quality white fish. I stood in line and ordered the Wild Codfish Pita with a side of tzaziki sauce and garlic sauce. It took a while for the order to arrive. The Codfish Pita was fresh, wholesome and healthy. The tzaziki and garlic sauce lifted the flavors of the fish pita. The portion was average. The place was almost full but it was still possible to find a high table. Ambiance was OK. The place was bright and large with many tables. The area has limited fish options so I am supportive of the restaurant's offering of wild Codfish. Hope other restaurants start offering more quality fish on the menu. They offer a complimentary serving of yogurt ice cream which was more sweet than tart. It was a good complement to the meal.

We came here towards the end of happy hour and ordered the hummus & veggie. Food is made fresh! So don't come during lunch! We came towards dinner time and waited a bit longer - but it was sooo worth the wait! The food is absolutely delicious! I had the lamb gyro! My husband had the short ribs with double veggies in place of mash potatoes. Woww... super moist! Highly recommend!

    Gyro Rice Plate

Came in for weekend lunch. Seating was easy but the food did take about 30-40 minutes to arrive because it was busy. No problem, understandable. Gyro Rice Plate - $18 The gyro meat is not the traditional thinly slice meat from a rotating spit. The meat was way too thick and it had a different consistency than what I'm used to. The seasoning was just okay. The rest of the plate was just a random pile of stir fried vegetables that was overcooked and overly soggy. Mix Kabob Plate - $21 Mix Kabob Plate's meat quantity was very miniscule compared to its $21 price tag. The beef was cooked medium well and dry, and the chicken was really dry as well. Meats were way too tough to finish. The garlic sauce was really good, though! The saving grace really was the complimentary soft serve at the end. Not as good as fast food soft serve but still was a nice touch. The ratings are high so I'm convinced I came on an off-day. I came expecting 4.3* Mediterranean food. Left without finishing all my food but was happy with the soft serve.

Grilled Chicken Caesar wrap add garlic sauce and fries
    Karessa A.

I'm not one to order wraps but once I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar wrap 3x in a row! Definitely add garlic sauce and get an extra on the side. Only bad thing to say is it's hit or miss on size/quality.

    Salmon pita

I went here for dinner with my family and the place was ehh... the salmon pita was lacking flavor and my lemon drop was tart with no sugar rim. 3 entrees, an appetizer, 1 alcohol drink and kids meal was over $100. Very pricey in my opinion and I did not think the food was amazing. The service was OK. I went am hope before closing so everyone seemed like they just wanted to go home. I wouldn't come back to this place. There def are better options for greek food.

One of my favorite places to eat. The pizzas are delicious. The quality of the flour and the cheese are spot on. I always have a hard time deciding between the pizza and the Philly cheesesteak.

Glad I was finally able to try out this place! With so many good places in the Houston area, sometimes we take for granted new places, but also want to support the places that we like so they stay in business. So when the bakery I usually frequent across the street was full, I decided instead of waiting or trying to maneuver the inside of the bakery with 3 young children alone, to go over here because they had halal meat (chicken and gyro options). I was really happy that we were able to find close parking on the street but we usually park a little further down in the parking lot behind all the buildings when we visit city place. I heard that there is free parking in a garage nearby but I did not see any free parking in a garage; the only parking garage I saw had a sign that it was employees only. I saw a picture of what I wanted online and went with the Mediterranean plate which I have to say-- is pricey for the amount of food that you get. I expected it to be larger or for this price (almost $20) I expected it to cost less. Either or. The children options are really nice, they got the basics things, my kids were able to get the small pizza and a halal chicken meal that they enjoyed. I liked that they had a couple of different types of teas to try (ginger peach and black current) because it gets boring to only just have a sweet or unsweet tea option at restaurants. I tried the cookie that you get with the children's meal, and it are really yummy, I regretted not purchasing a few of those separately. We especially love the fact that they had frozen yogurt for a sweet treat after the meal. The inside of the place was very aesthetic looking and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.

According to the website Island Grill is open till 9 PM tonight, I walked a mile to have dinner at the restaurant and was informed that it was closing at 7:30 pm. I don't fault management for closing early, but it needs to be posted if you're closing early. I would have gone elsewhere if I'd known they were going to be closed when I arrived.

Dined in for late lunch/happy hour while killing some time. The atmosphere was high class, beautiful, comfortable and casual. Counter service was prompt and efficient. Food was very tasty and satisfying. So many options and choices on the menu that have enticed me to want to return.

I would compare Island Grill to a fast food version of a Mediterranean restaurant and this is not a slight just my observation. The food is decent, you can get a free ice cream cone with your visit and they offer a small bar for the patrons who frequent City Place. On this visit was a slight mistake (maybe), but watch the cash register when you food total rings up; my bill was approximately $42.18 and when the three blocks for Tips came up the one for 10% came out to $6.18. I am still scratching my head on that one.

Our order included brisket, chicken kabab, beef kofta (cut perfectly into two pieces each), rice, grilled vegetables, green salad, hummus, and fresh bread. The food arrived warm, beautifully packaged, and right on time. Delivery fees were very reasonable, and Ramez went above and beyond by setting everything up on the serving table so elegantly, it truly elevated the entire experience. I placed the order on short notice, yet he delivered big results. The meats were incredibly tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The hummus deserves a special mention, it was one of the best I've ever had, and that says a lot coming from someone who is Middle Eastern. Both kids and adults loved the food, and we received so many compliments throughout the night. This was more than just catering, it felt personal, generous, and made with care. Ordering from Ta'bleyah will now be a tradition for us every New Year's Eve. Highly, highly recommend!

Brisket slices and pita bread. Some of the dishes are spicy like the spicy hummus, spicy chicken dish, and their hot sauce. Some of the compartments were not all that hot, like the butter chicken, the day I visited. It was bland anyway, very different than the Indian version, so I don't think heat would have helped much. At the end was dessert time. They have about 5 desserts. I tried the roll with lots of peanuts, the baklava, the sweet bread and the flan. I have to say I liked the baklava the best as I figured I would. Service was friendly though.

This is the case with Lama Mediterranean Cuisine in The Woodlands. My wife had a doctor's appointment at 2 pm and we live about 35 miles away, I figured go early and get some lunch and then get to the doctor with a full stomach. We put the address into the GPS and pulled right up in front of the restaurant. While it was nice weather outside, we decided to sit indoors and I am glad we did because I noticed some diners outdoors were batting away insects. Our server, Abraham came quickly and took our drink orders while we studied the menu and admired the beautifully decorated interior of the restaurant. Blue is a strong color they have used effectively, there is a large dinging room for a big group just off the main dining room and a bar at the far west end. We ordered some appetizers and they came out quickly, We had a small order (4 pieces) of the Fried Hallumi Cheese and also Kebbeh. Both came with a small sampling of cucumber, tomato and red onion which paired well. The Kebbeh had the most fragrant seasoning, I believe a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and clove. The serving sizes were ample and after trying some we both agreed to save room for the entrees we ordered, my wife had the Gyro Sandwich and I had the Chicken Shawerma, both were wrapped in a super fresh pita that had to be house made. My wife had the regular fries and I had sweet potato which were cooked perfectly, so light and crisp. We couldn't resist ordering some baklava to go, my wife thought walnut sounded good but our server said he felt the cashew was the best so we ordered that. When he brought it out, he said that there were 2 pieces of the cashew but he also added one of walnut at no charge, what a treat. We will be coming back here, the restaurant overall was super fresh and clean, service was great and the food was fantastic.

Inside is elegant and well decorated with glass tables and large rugs everywhere. Looking at the menu, it's a mix of various cuisines, but they do separate out the Persian dishes which are somewhat similar to Mediterranean ones just cost a little more and have different spices altogether. If you visit on weekend nights, you'll likely get to see belly dancing here. I settled on the chicken shawarma wrap, even though it costs a few dollars more than the chicken pita. It does come with one side for $21,and I chose French fries. It tasted pretty good, but you do have to get used to the pickles which gives the wrap an overall weird taste. These are not your typical pickles which go well with American fried chicken sandwiches. A Mexican tortilla is used as a wrap here instead of the bread they use for wraps in other Mediterranean restaurants in Houston. If I wanted a chicken burrito, i would have dined at a Mexican restaurant. The fries are previously frozen ones and lightly seasoned and really only decent when hot. Unfortunately this is one of those restaurants which takes care of newly seated guests and large parties but ignores the tables of 1. Not my fault I only have one in my party. They seated me in the corner and another gentleman came about 20 mins after me and I never saw a waitress go to his table after being served his entree either. The chef or kitchen hand is the one who brings out the entree from the kitchen here and my waitress never showed up until they try to take your plate away. However, I was still eating and also waiting for 10 mins on a refill. I can only eat so much before needing to take a sip of a liquid...but if you come with a party of one here..you will likely be waiting awhile. The lady taking my plate wasn't even my waitress either. Meanwhile, for the gentleman sitting outside alone, I observed his drink to be empty a while and they weren't refilling his either. He finally leaves and goes to a cash register to pay. What? A semi-fine dining elegant spot with mandolin playing in the background has a cash register where you have to go up to pay? What is this world coming to? With these prices, they should roll out red carpet from the front door to your table each time you walk in....and surely make the waitress do something for once and take your card and swipe it herself at the cash register which shouldn't be in the middle of the damn room. Sort of defeats the purpose of being elegant. Did I mention the glasses are plastic here too. If they want to be refined, try at least using glasses for drinks.

It absolutely was. The food and service were outstanding. They were out of doner when we arrived, but honestly, everything else we tried more than made up for it. Within about 10 minutes, the restaurant was pretty packed, so we clearly just arrived at the perfect time. We started with a bread basket served with fresh breads and an incredible tomato oil--simple, bold, and completely addictive. We had falafel with a creamy sauce (possibly yogurt or garlic-based) and stuffed grape leaves with olive oil, both beautifully done. Every dish came with fresh lettuce, lemon, thinly sliced onions that had clearly been soaked to remove the harsh bite, and a bright pickled cabbage that tied everything together perfectly. We also had lahmacun, which was deeply flavorful and incredibly satisfying. We were treated to complimentary Turkish tea and a meatless dish on the house, and I have to say--if you don't eat meat, you are not missing out on flavor at all. I grew up a meat eater, so I was genuinely surprised by how rich and delicious it was. I only wish I remembered the name so I could order it again. And then dessert... kunefe. Crispy shredded pastry, warm cheese, pistachios--easily one of the top 10 dishes I've ever eaten in my life. I usually hate mint in food, but two of the dishes included it and completely changed my mind--fresh, balanced, and done right. This place is a true hidden gem and one of my favorite dining experiences. I will absolutely be back, even if it's out of the way. Highly recommend.

We've been coming to Zara's for about a year now, and it's been our go-to spot for Mediterranean…read morefood since moving to the area. The atmosphere feels warm and authentic. Very homey and family-oriented. My favorites are the gyro plate with salad and basmati rice. For anyone who loves hummus, I recommend branching out and trying the muhammara. Roasted red pepper, garlic, pomegranate molasses, walnuts...it's a hidden gem, I don't even know how those flavors work together. The halloumi cheese is good; it tastes just like a mozzarella stick without the breading, my go to low carb option. On the flip side the rice pudding was a miss for me. The rice was al dente and the pudding itself lacked flavor. The beef shawarma had decent seasoning but came out dry and chewy. What I appreciate about Zara's is the variety. There's a wide selection of dishes, so there's something for everyone, and the drink menu is just as extensive. They don't serve alcohol, but the mocktail section is worth a try. If you're into hookah, they offer that as well. My biggest gripe is consistency. When the food is good, it's really good but there are times it feels like it's been reheated, and that's disappointing. When I first found this place, it was always spot on. Lately, not as much. Cleanliness is another concern. My husband once spotted a roach by his side. One roach wouldn't normally bother me..it happens..but after reading several similar reviews, it makes me question the cleanliness. All in all, Zara's is a great low-key neighborhood spot but not everything on the menu is a winner. I never had a problem with the service, and when there was something wrong they're more than willing to accommodate you and rectify the situation.

First experience - great! Second - not the best but palatable. This experience - absolutely not…read more Beyond unacceptable and appalling! It's one thing to have someone debate with you about whether or not the meat is undercooked, it's an entirely different thing to find a roach in your child's food... yep, a baby ROACH. See picture for reference. It wasn't on top either - it was buried in the rice, crawling around, alive and well. Enough said. Will NOT be returning. Ever. Shame on you Zara's.
