1st time here. A friend invited me to join her, and said it was where many of her co-workers ate. The short version is: my meal was very sub-par, and way over-priced. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I would rate the Cupertino location a solid 4 stars and this is just a little bit under, but I'd round up to a match. I described it to my wife as - if I was closer to one location, I'd eat there. On to the food: The proteins are the star at Yiassoo. From the gyro meat that's sliced thin and full of flavor, to the grilled chicken souvlaki, to the juicy steak souvlaki- this place is great for these straightforward Greek style meats. The rice is a surprise here as well - it's not simple steamed rice, but more like a seasoned rice pilaf. It's legitimately craveable rice and is perfect with their proteins. Their Greek salad is solid but unremarkable, mostly a lot of tomatoes. The French fries at this location are a little greasy but still satisfying. Location wise, there's plenty of seating and it's relatively nice for a counter ordering quick dining spot. Plenty of parking in the back and convenient location. Service was great, no complaints. Overall only thing bringing the score down is the food - it's pretty great and satisfying, but it's not exceptional. Eat here with the right expectations and you'll be happy. read more

Casual Geek restaurant on Bascom, perfect for when you want a bite to eat without any fuss. The menu is pretty straightforward and their portion sizes are large enough to share I believe. We tried the lamb, chicken, beef in a variety of different ways (plates, gyros, wrap) and everything was great except the lamb. If you're looking for some bomb gyro wraps, you have to check out Yiasso in Campbell. I went on a Friday night, there were people eating but no line at the register. You order at the register & they bring you the food. We got 2 gyro wraps, each wrap costs about 13$, an order of fries to share, loukoumades, and a piece of baklava. All in all is was about 43$ The gyro wraps were a hefty size and loaded with meat and other ingredients. I would definitely get it again. Gyro was perfectly thinly sliced and the tzatziki was incredible! The fries were eh, straight from the freezer fries and we all know fresh cut is the best. I would still get them again tho lol Loukoumades (like little greek donuts if you don't know) were so incredible! I feel like it's a rare find so when I saw them on the menu, I knew I had to get and they were delish, crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle! Baklava was incredible too. We went on a Friday night and it was chilly, but they have outdoor seating with fire heaters going which I appreciated. If it was a bit warmer, I would've sat outside! I've bookmarked this place forever ago but never had the chance to try until recently. We came around ~2pm on a Saturday, and there was still a steady stream of customers with to-go customers. Delicious Food! Wonderful Service! Comfy ambiance! My Business Partner/Best Friend/Sister/Buddy and I use to come here religiously, at least once some times twice a week for years. Lisa would order the lamb plate and I would order the #28 (Veggie Plate). We stopped coming since they had changed the cheese in the white sauce and it didn't quite taste the same. Today I thought I would stop in for old times sake to see how the food was. I am very pleased to announce that the white sauce tastes like it use to. Very tangy and rich in flavor. My lunch was again very tasty as it use to be. Wonderful fresh salad, yummy dolmas, the falafels are delicious, the humus is as good as before, and the spanakopita is spectacular as before. The only thing I'm missing is the company of my buddy, Lisa. I wish she was here to enjoy this delicious food and wonderful cheese sauce she loved so much. This is a great place! I have been coming to Yiassoo for years. It is a family run business with nice outdoor covered patios for dining. The interior is also nice with comfortable tables and chairs. The food is freshly made. No pre-packaged gyro meat from the refrigerator òr from the back room. The giant gyro wheel is in plain view, and the salads, rice, and other items are fresh and delicious. Even the pita bread is served warm and fresh. The great desserts are also a must try. I have tried many other dishes, all are excellent. Since it is family run, EVERYONE who works there provides outstanding service and really cares. Even though it's an older place, it is kept in great condition and always clean, including the restroom. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant! read more

I'm a bit lost for words because I grew up close to where this spot is located and always heard many good things about it. Maybe the experience I had was a one-off, but I can't say that I'd readily give Yiassoo another shot if I was in the area again. I got to try the chicken souvlaki plate and the spankopita. Spankopita is not my favorite food but I felt that it was done well enough here--a good balance of spinach filling to phyllo dough with good flavor. The chicken on the other hand was considerably dry. The tzatziki sauce was lacking in flavor, the fries were a bit soggy and the pita bread was just alright. I wouldn't personally get this menu item again. What really confused me was the Greek salad that came on the side. It was a mix of green peppers, olives, cucumbers, and sliced up larger tomatoes, with a white colored sauce on the side that I presume had feta in it. This is not my personal favorite combination of components for horiatiki salad and the whole thing was just so strange that I can't say I gave it a try. The food is solid overall. I used to get gyro sandwiches but since I caught vegetarian I've ordered my way through various veggie options. My wife - who is not a vegetarian- loves their vegetarian combo plate and she orders it every time. On this last order last night I got the Vegetarian (Gyro) Sandwich. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by this place over the years, well today was the day to finally stop in. The outside looks a little weathered and the building has seen some things in its time if you know what I mean. Walking in, everything looked clean and tidy. French fries: cooked to perfection, crispy, light with great flavor. 4 stars #3. The Gyro: with tons and I mean tons of meat, Tzatziki sauce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and some kind of cheese cut into a small bar "I swear it is feta cheese but not sure" anyway as you take the first bite you get the warm meat then this nice freshness of the cucumber and the creaminess of the Tzatziki playing off each other inside my mouth. They also give you ketchup, a bottle of some kind of white sauce and a bottle of red homemade hot sauce to put on your already great gyro. Overall experience 4 stars, if you haven't been.... I regret not reviewing this place earlier. Solid Greek food and my usual goto is the Gyro but a friend of mine recently recommended the salmon. So, today I ordered a salmon salad and I also regret not trying this earlier! Delicious, warm, moist, grilled salmon on top of a bed of cool, crisp salad. I'm so glad I gave this place another try. The first time I ordered take out b/c of the pandemic and ofc the food was ehh and I was disappointed. I didn't want to write a review for my takeout experience then. I finally returned and ate outside their patio. Idk what we ordered the first time, but we have returned a few times since dining indoors is open again. They have a nice front patio with a few tables. Anyway, we ordered the gyro salad, gyro sandwich (my fav!), and the combination plate. Everything is so good and the meat portion is very generous and meat is tasty! Portion size is big and definitely sharable with others. I suggest you order a few items and share with your friends or whoever so you can try more! I recommend ordering ahead and you can just pick up and still dine inside or dine out in their patio, especially if you're planning to come during lunch time cause it can get busy. Give it a try!
